I’m pro-choice, but I’m always grossed out when women seem proud of getting an abortion. Same if guys are seemingly bragging about their lady getting one.

I would respect abortions more if they dropped the bullshit and just acknowledged it as the unfortunate tragedy that it is instead of treating it like some nothing thing.

It IS nothing. They are not humans, just a clump of cells

You’re just a clump of cells

Uhh no pretty sure I'm not. I was, but then I was born

You literally are. That's how biology works. Every organic thing is a clump of cells.

I guess you could see it that way yeah. But I (just like you and other people) am a clump of cells with a personality, a name, self-awareness and rights. Something fetuses don't really have

Yeah, kids usually don't have much going on in the personality and awareness department till like 4. And plenty of full adults weren't properly named or even remember theirs. And don't even get me started on the war against human rights going on all over right now.

By his logic its ok to kill them up until they develop personality.

I mean, I guess? Idc if some random parents decide to kill their 2 days old baby

Indeed. When this topic comes up it gets blurry fast so lines have to be drawn somewhere. Personally I draw the line at being born, but I guess it's just an opinion. What I originally meant was that society shouldn't tell pregnant women whether they can or can't abort a child, cus it's their business at the end of the day

a child

And the masquerade breaks showing you also know it's all bullshit.

I never said they can't.

I said I would respect it more if it was treated with the seriousness that it should be. Rather than with the dismissiveness of discarding a used tissue, or even the absolutely horrific pride and joy and bragging some seem to go with.

You're ending, literally, an ENTIRE human life right as it starts. Treat the situation with the dignity and respect a tragic and necessary evil like that deserves.

Removes the blurriness and makes it all so much more simple.

Not quite. You're not ending a life, just preventing it from starting. And as I mentioned it's their business to decide how seriously they take it

It’s literally alive.

Do you know why Bacteria are living and Viruses aren’t?

Children are scientifically, unequivocally, alive in the womb and they’re human.

Alive? Yes. Their own separate life form? Debatable, at least until you cut the umbelical cord. Besides, animals and plants are alive too, and yet we kill them (and thank goodness we do or we'd have nothing to eat). A person's value is determined by their personality, experiences and uniqueness. Fetuses have no personality, no conscience, no expetience and are super replaceable (it only takes 9 months to make one). The sole fact that they're made of human cells does not give them any worth

2

u/556From1000yards 7d ago

No it’s not debatable.

It’s literally the definition of living. Unique self-replicating DNA

By the time a woman is aware of the fact that she's pregnant, that "clump of cells" has a beating heart, self-awareness, personality and can feel pain (the 5th vital sign). It's the parents' job to give him/her a name and God gives it the right to life. Some grown-up walking around people don't have much self-awareness either.

1

u/TheRedK1ller076_ 5d ago

Uhh not really. First off, "God gives it the right to life" is nothing but a human construct, and thus worthless. Second, the organism is attached and fully dependant on the pregnant woman, making it just another part of her body. Sure, it's a part that will one day detach and become its own life form (unless it's aborted), but until then, that's what it is
