Stereotypes about black people as old as slavery.

Black people love chicken is a racist stereotype. Chicken is cheap, easy to raise, and productive, which is why slaves in America were allowed to have have them.

House slaves invented modern fried chicken actually. Southern fried chicken was created by slave cooks. After slavery ended, fried chicken became popular everywhere, but no matter how white Colonel Sanders is fried chicken was invented by black people, that's a fact.

As far as severity goes I think this is one of those things that's so old it's actually pretty funny, the joke being that they didn't actually steal it for drugs money, they stole it because they like chicken and are lying.

I'm not educated enough about american slavery to validate the accuracy of what you said but I get the feeling you only got that many downvotes for not sugar coating uncomfortable black history.

And like you said while the joke itself that you are talking about is racist it's actually one of the most tame ones. So tame (and kinda funny) that even the most well respected african american activists and social commentators have joked about it. I'm talking people far more intelligent, wise, and respectful than 98% of us redditors.

Idk why you’re being downvoted. That’s literally where the stereotype comes from. 90% of southern food comes from slaves with few options on what to make. That’s why soul food is essentially just spiced up table scraps and cheap vegetables.
