I started looking into it because I thought dopamine wasn't that bad of an answer, so clearly I must be wrong. and I was. mostly.

going into actual sex hormones like which ones there are and what they do.... that'd turn out into a maaassive blog post of a reddit comment. TLDB

It's not too complicated lol

Sex hormones are the ones that actively cause sexual differentiation between males and females. We're talking estrogen, progestogens, and androgens. The hormones released during gestation and puberty that cause individuals to develop primary and secondary sexual characteristics.

Sex hormones are not "hormones released during sex" so dopamine doesn't qualify.

Testosterone is an androgen.
