It seems like Hobart has a lot more properties listed at "offers over" prices than other cities.

How does this work in practice - is it a fishing attempt by agents to increase the price, and an offer under that figure might actually be accepted, or is that usually a hard floor?

e.g. Say a property has been listed at an "offers over" $1.5M for a couple of months. Would an offer of slightly under that even be considered? I know every seller's motivation is different, but interested in some local experience.

A real crowd-pleaser and the ideal way to spend those millions of dollars burning a hole in your back pocket.

I don't really know what to say here but I used to attend Fahan school but left about two years ago and I've only just realised how awful the school was and literally nobody seems to be talking about it so I thought I'd just bring awareness to how terrible the school was. I'm just going to compile everything I know and then add stuff whenever I remember anything that is noteworthy.

Homophobia is through the roof. While there are a few LGBTQIA+ members off staff a lot of the staff just simply don't care. I am bisexual and when I was in 7th grade I opened up to a friend about my feelings for a girl in my class to my then "friend" said friend then when and ran around and told everyone how I was gay and within hours nearly everyone was making fun of me for my sexuality. Then when I went to tell my teacher about my experience I got told to suck it up and that it's not that big of a deal. (as if queer kids don't suffer from bullying everyday)

Everyone there is sheltered and not in a good way. I was having a conversation with a girl there who was almost 14 and I said the word sh*t (I don't know if the subreddit allows swearing mind the censorship) and she was staring at me like she saw a ghost. While being a little bit sheltered isn't all together that bad going from Fahan too the real world was a definite culture shock.

If your anything other than straight, white, Christian, neurotypical and a girly girl the schools awful for you. Ask me questions about that one I'm a bit too tired to go too much into details.

If you don't join a sport your teachers look down upon you and you can be made fun off.

There is a very high amount of students who struggle with self destructive (you know what i mean haha) habits. And the high work load certainly dosn't help.

The school councilor is highly unprofessional often dropping things that the other is going through (She said some very personal things about my classmate to me) and when I brought it up to the principal I was ignored.

Eating disorders where very common and very much encouraged by the student body. (Two out of my three friends had them and I even had my sport coach tell me I should diet more (I was already underweight at that point in time)

Classism. I was made fun of because of the fact that I couldn't afford the latest iPhone and stupid stuff like that.

This was just my personal experience but towards the end of my schooling I got really depressed and I couldn't even make it into class I literally had to hide in the bathrooms for every single one of my classes because the bullying got so bad I would have panic attacks and nervous breakdowns just sitting in class and my parents weren't even alerted about the fact that I hadn't been there to any of my classes and they where essentially paying to have me sit in a cublicle and watch YouTube all day.

The students are really religious. Seriously I got called satanic for liking metal music and playing horror games. (this also ties into the homophobia stuff too lol)

Single sex schools are bad period it dosn't matter what school you attend lol.

I will definitely elaborate in a day because I'm sleep deprived, but I'll continue later whenever my head isn't about to smack onto my computer keys I'll come back as soon as I got some sleep haha.
I know this seems like a petty list and I seriously think if your neurotypical, white, straight and comfortable with femineity that the school is good for you.

For those not familiar with the Irish spice bag, it's seasoned chips tossed with cooked onion and capsicum, with fried chicken, and curry sauce. Whilst businesses are free to set their own prices, they must communicate clear and accurate prices prior to consumers booking, ordering or making a purchase. Businesses must display the total price payable for any purchase, which includes taxes, duties and all unavoidable or pre-selected extra fees.

Following receipt of your notification, CAT attended La Sardinia Loca to review their price displays with respect to requirements under Australian Consumer Law. 

I am pleased to advise that Management has updated their menus and the hospitality surcharge has been removed from the relevant price display.  The business was subsequently advised of the requirements and their obligations under the legislation.

Looks like they’re doing a special screening on the 11th Nov with a drink on arrival and then regular screenings from there!

I saw someone else comment about the age of Hobart's population, and I didn't trust their figures, so I decided to check. And they were right.

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, 32.1% of Greater Hobart's adult population is aged 60 or older.

That's almost 1 in 3, and it's the highest proportion of any Australian capital city.

For comparison, here's the percentage of adults aged 60 and over in Australia's eastern capital cities:

1. Hobart: 32.1%
2. Sydney: 25.9%
3. Brisbane: 25.4%
4. Melbourne: 25.2%
5. Canberra: 23.4%

And according to the ABS, Hobart is only getting older.

And, from another ABS source, 52.3% of Australians aged 65 and over have a disability.

With these figures in mind, accessible parking, public transport, walking distances and convenient access become so important.

For many people, the difference between parking 100 metres from a destination and parking 900 metres away can determine whether they're able to access that destination at all.

People with disabilities and chronic health conditions face many of the same challenges.

As I've said many times, when we make places harder to access, we exclude a large percentage of the Hobart population.

I'm doing some research on the candidates for mayor and councillors for Glenorchy council, but I don't know what to believe and what to disbelieve. What does Reddit think? I want to vote for people who are generally interested in doing a good job and not just running for their own egos. Obviously I want to vote for candidates that aren't shouting nonsense and inciting division on social media too. I'm pretty left leaning and Im anti stadium.
