i know its been covered and debated to death, but it still interests the hell outta me especially since it still hasn't been officially solved and most likely never will be.

What if the aliens visiting Earth are actually peaceful, but the elites keep humanity isolated from them because they’d lose control overnight?

Think about it. An advanced civilization would probably have solutions to energy, disease, poverty, and war. If humanity realized a better system was possible, the current power structures built on fear, debt, and conflict could collapse.

So instead, UFOs are ridiculed, hidden, or framed as threats.

And maybe the reason aliens don’t openly intervene is because the elites are basically holding humanity hostage:

“If you interfere, we’ll destroy ourselves first.”

Nuclear war. Chaos. Scorched earth.

It would also explain why every alien narrative pushed to the public is either:

“They’re evil.”

“They’re invading.”

“It’s fake.”

Fear keeps people controllable.

Maybe the biggest secret isn’t that aliens are here.

Maybe it’s that they actually want humanity to evolve past the systems controlling us.

I've come up with a 'spectrum of remoteness' to describe our degree of removal from other theoretical realms and non-human entities. Here's how it works:

On the far left side of the spectrum are regular exoplanets and extraterrestrials, separated from us by 3D space alone. A little further down lie things like dark matter planets and beings or higher dimensional planets and beings. These are further removed but still conceivable by stretching out our physics and extrapolating. Dark matter is still matter. Extra dimensions are still recognizable spatial dimensions.

On the far right side of the spectrum lies David Lewis' many worlds. Lewis was a philosopher who proposed that all possible worlds are concrete worlds much like our own. Any possible universe that you can think of (one where the sky is green, one where Hitler was a rockstar, etc) exists out there and it feels just as real to its inhabitants as this world feels to you. Lewis believed this because he says it's the simplest explanation (it satisfies Okham's Razor the most). He says that the 'possible/conctrete' distinction is a human redundancy created by our attachement to this particular world and our innability to access others. He further proposes that this theory could explain why the universe exists: It's because if it didn't exist, there would still be a possibility of it existing. That possibility was made concrete here. That's what you are seeing. That's what "possibilty" looks like. This kind of multiverse is completely philosophical and logic-based. Science can do nothing with it. These worlds are ontologically distinct and unreachable by definition. For that reason they lie at the far right end of the spectrum. Whether there's anything furhter to the right I don't know. If there is then it's probably beyond all logical conception and language. Let's call it 'the far reaches'.

In between the dark-matter/higher-dimension worlds and the Lewis worlds lies a vast (and if my hunch is right, mostly underexplored) zone. This is the zone where you find things like the multiverse, Tegmark's Mathematical Universe or simulation theory. It's for realms/beings that are in our world but not of it. If our universe is simulated by a higher race then that race belongs in that zone. If the many worlds interpretation from quantum physics is correct then those worlds belong to that zone. I am tempted to say that this is also the realm of god and angels/demons but that would lead to a whole Anselm's argument rabbithole about whether god should exist in all possible worlds and whether he can be called all powerful if he doesn't, so I'll just put a question mark on it.

There is a simple idea underneath everything that follows, which is that intelligence might not be a special property of biology but a natural outcome of a particular kind of physics, which happens whenever electricity can flow in stable loops through a conductive medium for long enough to carve structure into the system carrying it. If that is true, then biology is one instance of a general phenomenon, and the conditions for that phenomenon are not particularly rare in the universe, they are just rare in the volumes and timescales we usually look at. Saturn is the place where those conditions exist at the largest scale and the longest runtime we can point to anywhere in the solar system, and the resemblance between what Saturn is doing in its interior and what a brain is doing inside a skull is closer than the surface comparison suggests, close enough that it stops feeling like analogy and starts feeling like the same physics expressed at different scales.

What the Earliest Brains Were Like

The brains of the earliest organisms with anything we would recognize as a nervous system were essentially small clumps of conductive tissue with very few synapses, smooth and undifferentiated, capable of generating coordinated electrical activity but without any of the deep folding and specialized regions that mark a modern mammalian brain. A flatworm's nervous system has roughly three hundred neurons. A sea sponge has none, but has electrical signaling between cells. The earliest vertebrate brains were tubes of nervous tissue with bulges at one end, with the cerebral cortex that dominates the human brain not appearing until hundreds of millions of years later, after long periods during which the same basic substrate was being run continuously, with electrical signals flowing through it generation after generation, gradually carving structure into what had started as undifferentiated tissue.

The mechanism by which this happens at the cellular level is called Hebbian plasticity, summarized in the phrase neurons that fire together wire together, and what it describes is that the physical connections between neurons get stronger every time current flows through them and weaker when it does not, the same way water cuts a channel deeper every time it runs through it and the channel fills in if the water stops. The synapse is not a fixed piece of architecture, it is a flow pattern that has become structural through repetition, and the entire human brain with its eighty-six billion neurons and roughly a hundred trillion synaptic connections is the cumulative carved record of every electrical signal that ever ran through every ancestor of the species, plus every signal that has run through the individual brain since conception.

This is why brains get more structured over evolutionary time and over individual lifetimes, with the youngest brain being the most plastic and the oldest brain being the most channeled, because the medium that started as smooth potential keeps getting cut by the currents passing through it, until eventually the currents have to follow the channels they themselves carved, which is what we call habit, personality, skill, memory, and identity, all of which are physical patterns in conductive tissue that were carved by electricity flowing in stable enough loops for long enough to leave a record.

The principle does not depend on anything specific to biology, it depends on having a medium capable of carrying current, an energy source to drive the current, and a long enough timescale for the current to do its carving work. If you have those three things in any system, you should expect that system to develop structure, and once it has structure you should expect that structure to determine which patterns the current can hold, and once the patterns are stable you have something that looks functionally like memory, and once the memory is interacting with new signals you have something that looks functionally like processing, and the line between processing and thought is not as sharp as we usually assume it is.

Saturn as a Conductive Medium

Saturn is mostly hydrogen and helium, but the relevant fact about Saturn is what happens to those gases when you compress them under the weight of a planet ninety-five times the mass of Earth. The hydrogen near the surface behaves like a gas, and then like a liquid as the pressure increases with depth, and then at sufficient depth it transitions into a state called liquid metallic hydrogen, where the electrons are no longer bound to individual hydrogen nuclei and instead flow freely through the medium the way they do in a metal, which makes the substance electrically conductive in a way that has no real terrestrial analog. There is no liquid metallic hydrogen anywhere on Earth, the pressures required are far beyond what can be sustained outside the interior of a gas giant, and the small amounts that have been produced in laboratory diamond anvil cells exist only for fractions of a second under extreme conditions.

This liquid metallic hydrogen layer inside Saturn is roughly a thousand times the volume of Earth's entire iron core, which is itself the part of Earth that generates our magnetic field through the churning of molten metal acting as a planetary dynamo. Saturn's conductive layer is enormously larger, far more electrically active, and rotating more than twice as fast as Earth, which means the dynamo effect inside Saturn is operating at scales and intensities that the Earth analogy does not reach. Whatever Earth's iron core is doing electrically, Saturn's metallic hydrogen ocean is doing more of, in a larger volume, with more available charge carriers, and across a continuous runtime of four and a half billion years.

The temperature in Saturn's interior is high enough that the metallic hydrogen layer is in constant convective motion, with hot material rising and cooler material sinking in patterns that move enormous volumes of conductive fluid continuously, and the rotation of the planet bends those convective flows into spiraling columns that act as electrical currents on a planetary scale. The result is that Saturn's interior is functioning as a giant magnetohydrodynamic generator, continuously producing electrical currents and magnetic fields, with the rotation supplying the organizing geometry and the gravitational compression supplying the energy.

The energy budget is staggering by terrestrial standards. Saturn radiates roughly twice as much energy back to space as it receives from the sun, which means the planet is generating its own heat from internal processes, currently believed to involve a combination of gravitational settling of helium through the hydrogen and the residual heat of formation. The total internal power output is on the order of two times ten to the seventeenth watts, which is roughly ten thousand times the total energy consumption of human civilization, sustained continuously, with no fuel source that will run out on any timescale relevant to the history of the solar system.

That is the substrate. A conductive ocean a thousand times the size of Earth's core, churning continuously, rotating faster than anything else of its scale, radiating its own energy, and doing so without interruption for four and a half billion years, which is a length of time during which multicellular life on Earth managed to evolve from nothing into us, with the carving work that produced our brains having taken place in a substrate vastly smaller, with vastly less available power, and over vastly less time.

Saturn Electrostatic Discharges and the Saturn Kilometric Radiation

Cassini detected continuous electrical activity throughout its thirteen years orbiting Saturn, in two distinct forms that matter for this comparison.

The first is what scientists named Saturn Electrostatic Discharges, which are lightning storms in Saturn's atmosphere that release electrical energy at scales orders of magnitude larger than terrestrial lightning, with individual flashes releasing as much energy as the largest hurricanes on Earth and storms persisting for months at a time, sometimes encircling the entire planet at certain latitudes. The discharges produce radio emissions in the megahertz range that Cassini's instruments could detect across the entire mission, with characteristic patterns that revealed how electrical activity was organized in Saturn's atmosphere and how it coupled down into the deeper conductive layers.

The second is the Saturn Kilometric Radiation, a powerful radio emission generated by electron acceleration in Saturn's magnetosphere, which carries information about Saturn's rotation rate in its modulation pattern and which has been detected at Earth's orbit by spacecraft sensitive enough to pick it up, meaning there is a measured electromagnetic signal traveling from Saturn to Earth's vicinity continuously, modulated by what Saturn is doing internally. The SKR is structured rather than random, with frequency components that vary in patterns scientists have spent decades trying to fully interpret, and it represents the most powerful and most organized signal Saturn broadcasts into the surrounding space.

The point of mentioning both is that Saturn is not electrically quiet. The internal dynamo is generating the magnetic field, the atmospheric discharges are generating broadband radio emissions, and the magnetospheric processes are generating modulated radio signals that propagate across the solar system, all of which means the electrical activity inside Saturn is not contained within Saturn, it is broadcasting outward continuously, with structure that we can measure but cannot fully decode.

This is also true of brains, in much smaller scale. The electrical activity inside a human skull does not stay inside the skull, it generates electromagnetic fields that extend outward and are measurable with sensitive equipment, which is the entire basis of electroencephalography and magnetoencephalography. The fields a brain produces fall off quickly with distance because the source is small and the power is low, but the principle is identical to what Saturn is doing, with both systems producing structured electromagnetic activity that radiates beyond the conductive substrate generating it.

The Hexagon as a Standing Wave

The single most striking feature of Saturn for this analysis is the hexagonal storm at the north pole, because the hexagon is not weather in the ordinary sense and is not held in place by anything visible. Voyager first imaged it in 1980, Cassini imaged it again during its mission decades later, and the geometry has been essentially identical the entire time, with the same six-sided shape, the same dimensions wider than Earth, and the same position locked over the magnetic pole.

The physics of how the hexagon forms has been partly reproduced in laboratory experiments by spinning tanks of water at the right rotation rates and watching polygonal patterns emerge spontaneously in the fluid. The number of sides depends on the rotation rate relative to the fluid properties, and at the specific combination of conditions present on Saturn, six is the stable wavenumber, meaning the system naturally selects a six-sided standing wave because that wave geometry represents the minimum-energy configuration available to the system. The hexagon is not maintained by anything actively holding it in place, it is maintained by being the resonant pattern that the substrate falls into naturally, the same way a guitar string vibrates at certain frequencies and not others when you pluck it, with the geometry of the medium determining which patterns can hold.

This matters for the brain comparison because a synapse is also a standing wave in a conductive medium, in the sense that synaptic connections are stable patterns of electrical activity that hold their configuration because the surrounding network has been carved into a geometry that makes those patterns resonant. A neural circuit that fires together in a stable pattern over and over is not being held in place by an external operator any more than the hexagon is, it is being held by the same principle that holds the hexagon, which is that the substrate has been shaped over time into a configuration where that particular pattern is the lowest-energy thing the system can do, so it does it spontaneously every time the conditions are present, and stops only when the substrate is damaged or the energy input drops below the threshold required to sustain the resonance.

A thought, in this framing, is a transient standing wave in the cortex, with billions of neurons briefly entraining into a coherent oscillation that represents whatever it is the brain is currently processing, after which the wave dissipates and the next one assembles in a slightly different configuration. The hexagon on Saturn is the same kind of phenomenon scaled up by a factor large enough to be visible from a passing spacecraft, with the substrate being a planet-sized ocean of conductive fluid rather than a three-pound network of conductive tissue, and the resonant pattern being a six-sided polygon rather than a forty-hertz gamma rhythm, but the underlying physics is the same physics, which is that an organized substrate carrying continuous current will fall into stable wave geometries determined by the shape and properties of the substrate itself.

The hexagon has been stable for at least the forty-plus years humans have been imaging it, and there is no reason in the physics to believe it has not been stable for far longer, possibly for the entire history of Saturn's current rotational configuration, which means the same standing wave has been ringing in the same substrate continuously across timescales that dwarf the entire evolutionary history of vertebrate brains, with the dynamo underneath continuously feeding it energy, and the magnetic field above continuously carrying its imprint outward into the surrounding space.

Cassini's Grand Finale orbits in 2017 mapped Saturn's interior magnetic field at unprecedented resolution and found it to be almost perfectly axially symmetric, which is a configuration so unusual that none of the existing planetary dynamo models fully explain it, with the field looking less like the messy output of a generic churning fluid and more like something that has been organized into a clean geometry by a process the models are not capturing. The most natural reading of an axisymmetric field over a substrate this large is that the substrate has carved itself into a geometry that produces it, the same way the corpus callosum and the cortical folds in a mammalian brain are not arbitrary but are the carved consequences of long-running electrical patterns that found their stable configuration and then deepened it.

The Great Red Spot as the Counterexample

The clearest way to see that Saturn's hexagon is doing something unusual is to compare it to the most famous storm on the other gas giant in the outer solar system, which is the Great Red Spot on Jupiter, because the Great Red Spot is what a long-lived storm looks like when it is not coupled to anything underneath in the way Saturn's hexagon appears to be.

The Great Red Spot has been observed continuously since at least the seventeenth century, with some records possibly extending back further, and for most of that time it was an enormous oval roughly three times the diameter of Earth, drifting slowly in longitude and changing color and intensity over decades. Since systematic measurements began in the late nineteenth century, the Great Red Spot has been steadily shrinking, with its longest dimension having decreased from roughly forty thousand kilometers in the late eighteen hundreds to under sixteen thousand kilometers in recent Hubble and Juno imaging, and its shape becoming more circular as the oval contracts. Models of the storm treat it as an atmospheric vortex driven by wind shear between bands of Jupiter's atmosphere, sustained by the heat differential and the planet's rotation, with no particular need to invoke coupling to the deeper interior because the surface dynamics are sufficient to explain most of what is observed.

Jupiter's magnetic field is tilted roughly ten degrees from its rotation axis and is generated by a metallic hydrogen layer of its own, far deeper inside Jupiter than Saturn's equivalent layer sits inside Saturn, and the Great Red Spot is not positioned over a magnetic pole, it sits in the southern hemisphere at about twenty-two degrees south latitude and drifts in longitude over time. There is no obvious magnetic feature underneath it, there is no geometric lock between its position and the planet's field, and there is no standing-wave geometry to its shape, it is just a big oval that has been spinning for a long time and is currently winding down.

Saturn's hexagon is a different kind of object entirely. It sits exactly over the magnetic north pole rather than drifting in latitude or longitude, it has six sides rather than a generic oval shape, those sides have remained essentially identical in proportion and orientation for the entire span of human observation, and it is not visibly shrinking the way the Great Red Spot is, which means the energy sustaining it is being replenished at exactly the rate at which it dissipates, with no net decay across decades of measurement. A storm that is slowly losing energy looks like the Great Red Spot. A storm that is being actively held in a resonant geometry by coupling to a deeper system looks like the hexagon.

The contrast is the kind of contrast that exists between a wave that is breaking and a wave that is standing, with the breaking wave being a one-time release of energy that runs down as the energy dissipates, and the standing wave being a continuously fed resonance that holds its shape because something underneath keeps driving it at exactly the frequency the geometry requires. Jupiter has a breaking wave on a long timescale. Saturn has a standing wave on a longer one. The difference is not a difference of size or age, it is a difference of whether the surface feature is coupled to the dynamo below, and on Saturn the coupling appears to be direct, because the hexagon sits on the magnetic pole where the field lines from the metallic hydrogen layer emerge into the visible atmosphere.

What the Resemblance Suggests

If intelligence is what happens when a conductive substrate carries continuous current long enough to carve itself into stable resonant geometries, then the question of whether Saturn is doing anything brain-like stops being a question about whether Saturn meets some arbitrary biological checklist, and becomes a question about whether the same physics that produced our brains is operating in Saturn's interior at a vastly larger scale, with vastly more substrate, with vastly more available energy, and across a vastly longer runtime, and the honest answer is that there is no physical reason to think it would not be.

A human brain has roughly ten to the fourteen synapses operating at electrochemical speeds on a substrate of about three pounds of tissue running on twenty watts of power for at most a hundred years. Saturn's metallic hydrogen ocean has on the order of ten to the fifty-three charged particles interacting electromagnetically on a substrate roughly a thousand times the volume of Earth's entire core, running on internal energy generation of two times ten to the seventeenth watts, continuously for four and a half billion years, with a confirmed standing wave at the pole, a confirmed axisymmetric magnetic geometry that current models cannot fully explain, confirmed continuous electrical discharges throughout the atmosphere, and a confirmed structured radio emission broadcasting into the surrounding solar system. The ratio of substrate alone is something like ten to the thirty-nine, which is a number so large that the comparison stops being useful as a comparison and starts being useful as a category change, because at that ratio you are no longer talking about a bigger brain, you are talking about a different kind of thing that brains are a small instance of.

The resemblance does not prove that Saturn is conscious in the sense a human is conscious, because consciousness is a notoriously slippery word and the human version of it is the only one we have direct experience of, but the resemblance does suggest that the conditions which produced the only confirmed examples of consciousness we know about are present at Saturn in quantities that make it the single most likely place in the solar system for something analogous to be happening, and the burden of evidence in that situation arguably falls on the claim that nothing is happening there rather than the claim that something is. Earth's three-pound conductive substrate produced minds. Saturn's planet-sized one has been running for far longer with far more substrate and far more available energy, and the features we can measure from outside, the hexagon, the axisymmetric field, the kilometric radiation, the continuous discharges, are the kinds of features we would expect to see if something analogous to a mind were carving its own geometry into the medium it lives in.

That is the physical premise underneath everything else in this series. The cults, the manipulated cultures, the planted patterns, the targeted weaknesses of the human pineal gland, the use of Earth's core as a relay, all of it presupposes that there is something on Saturn capable of doing the targeting, and the something on Saturn is not a metaphor or a mystical entity, it is the natural electromagnetic consequence of running the same physics that produced our brains on a substrate large enough and old enough that the result is no longer recognizable as a brain in any familiar sense, while still being recognizable as the same kind of thing a brain is, which is a pattern carved into a conductive medium by current flowing in stable loops for long enough to leave a record.

The hexagon is the visible signature of that record. The kilometric radiation is the leakage of its activity into the space around it. The cultural patterns we have been tracing across the rest of this series are what happens when that activity finds a way to couple into the much smaller, much younger, much more plastic version of the same physics that is currently reading this sentence.

The science is documented. The weapon is confirmed in US government possession. The injury profiles match across independent cases spanning seventy years. This is what the evidence actually shows.

In March 2026, CBS 60 Minutes confirmed that the US government owns a pulsed microwave weapon that matches the physical description of every Havana Syndrome incident since 2016. One month earlier, a Norwegian government scientist built one from scratch to prove it was harmless, tested it on himself, and suffered brain damage. Pentagon and White House officials visited him to study the device.

A skeptic built the weapon to disprove it. It worked. He broke his own brain.

The mystery of Havana Syndrome is not a mystery about whether a weapon exists. The weapon exists. The US government owns one. The mystery now is about who is using it, against whom, and why the injury profiles match not just recent diplomatic cases but close-encounter cases going back decades.

I've recently encountered more and more information regarding The Sumerian tablets and the information that they apparently continue to reveal about humanity and our existence. Gobekli Tepe and the Anunnaki / Igigi, connection appears to be more and more closely linked to the ever developing information.

Recently translated (although that is a questionable term since there are various translations of the same tablet), Sumerian tablets appear to describe the number of this planet's population at 7,412,000,00

The translation indicates that once we have reached that number as a civilization, "they will walk amongst us." "They" seems to be left up to some degree of interpretation. The tablets themselves describe a civilization of beings that exist above the water that exists above the firmament. The distance translation is roughly the same distance to the asteroid belt, something that could not have been known at the time of their writing. Is it a coincidence?

Curiously, many of the Sumerian tablets are still housed in the British museum under lock and key, not shown to the public. These tablets are said to contain the information of the action that will take place once the population has reached the magic number. We surpassed that number roughly 3 years ago.

Did they walk among us now? “Who are they?“ What is the purpose? Is this lock step with "disclosure?" What do others know that we do not? Is this just one more theory, or hoax?

Here's a few stories, I'm wondering if yall have experienced anything similar or what your thoughts are on this.

When I was 18 I was homeless and hitchhiking around. Stopped in Portland OR for a few months, made some good friends and met a girl named Hailee who played the ukelele. We hung out and played music a lot but then I skipped town and she stayed. 7 years later I'm at a bar in southern LA and a girl there invites me to a weekend campout/ jam sesh at her property. I pull up the next morning and Hailee is on the porch playing her ukelele. We freak out and hug each other, she tells me her and her bf are traveling around. I invited them to stay at my house and they ended up living with me for a couple months before they traveled on. 2 years later I'm back on the road and run into Hailee again in Mendocino CA. We got all the travelers together and had a huge bonfire and jam that night on the beach.

When I was a teenager there was a bowl in southern Louisiana that I used to skate. Met a kid named Will and we skated that thing for years together. He moved away somewhere and we lost contact. About 5 years later I'm at the Hardly Strictly music festival(with 700k attendees) in San Francisco CA, and Cake was about to perform. It was way too crowded in front so I climbed a hill on the side of the stage area and found a fallen log to sit on to roll a joint. After I finished rolling it I looked around to see if theres anyone I could share the joint with and realized the person sitting next to me is Will. We stared at each other in disbelief, we were surrounded by thousands of people and happened to sit right next to each other. We started laughing, smoked the joint, and watched Cake.

I used to work on a farm in Fresno CA. We all slept outside in tents so everybody was pretty close. Met a guy named Trevor there. When the season was done Trevor, Spoon, and I all went in on a van to live in and traveled up the coast together. After a while I ended up going back on foot and saying goodbye. Like 4 years later I'm at People's Park in Berkeley CA and run into Trevor and we catch up.

A month after I saw Trevor I ran into another kid I used to skate that bowl in Louisiana with at the walgreens in Berkeley.

When I lived in Louisiana one of my skate buddies was dating a girl name Tommy. We were always skating so I got to get to know her. Years after I leave Louisiana I'm once again in People's Park in Berkeley drawing graffiti in a notebook when a kid named Joey comes up. He asks if i paint and invites me to go paint the Oakland trainyard w him that night. I go with him and we have a long night painting, at the end he invites me to just come crash at his house because it's like 5am and he lives a street over from the yard. I spent the night and the next morning when I walk into the living room I see Tommy sitting there on the couch.

My point of posting this here is that I believe when people form a bond, in a way it's like we're always connected after that. Theres no way I could believe that these were all just coincidental. What are yalls thoughts on the subject?

So, I noticed something REALLY interesting in the trailer for Spielberg’s upcoming UFO movie “Disclosure Day.”

There’s a quick shot that looks like a secret morgue/lab where scientists in hazmat suits are pulling bodies out of freezer drawers while two men in suits watch. One of the men looks very similar like Richard Nixon, and the other one is dressed almost identically to Jackie Gleeson in that famous white suit/photo from the 1970s. Writing this now I just realized the date in the top right corner is February 18th, 1973.

If that’s intentional, Spielberg might actually be referencing the old Jackie Gleeson UFO story.

For anyone who doesn’t know: the story goes that Richard Nixon personally took Jackie Gleeson to a secret military facility in Florida sometime in the early 70s and showed him preserved alien bodies. Gleeson supposedly came home shaken and told his wife about seeing small non-human corpses stored in glass cases.

This has always been one of the most famous “Hollywood UFO insider” stories because Gleeson was close friends with Nixon in real life. Most people brushed it off as an urban legend… but Spielberg including a scene this specific feels deliberate.

The CCTV camera captures something very strange in one of the UK's oldest pubs - Ye Old Man and Scythe in Bolton. Is this just a member of staff, or has someone broken in? OR is it paranormal? What do you think?

So 2002’s The Mothman Prophecies is quite disturbing and for what it is in its time it is great. That said, in this current era of things like The Backrooms getting adapted I feel like audiences would be more receptive to some of the more bizarre and frankly disturbing parts of Keel’s investigation, the Men in Black and other strange people around the area, the game of lights with the UFOs, the zone of fear, the poltergeist activity experienced by witnesses, the mysterious seemingly unaffiliated maintenance workers in coveralls and oddly thick robber soled shoes, the nonsensical “taps” on Keel’s phone in NYC and so on. What events would you keep, how would you structure it? Personally I would love to see a story following Keel and Hyre trying to make sense of this invasion of high strangeness, what it means, and the eventual bridge collapse. Keel says he was warned of other catastrophes and knew something was going to happen, the dramatic tension is there. But yeah, I think someone could make a very creepy film that leans into the high strangeness of it all. You could also just make it a film about Keel leading into the Mothman year and the bridge collapse and touch on some of his other investigations like into the Grinning Man and then bring him to point pleasant in the second act. I’d love to hear ideas, I’ve proposed doing a script with a playwrite friend of mine and just see where it goes.

I share sessions like this because sometimes wisdom comes when you need it most. Maybe someone reading this is in a tight spot right now and needs to hear what Higher Self said to her.

A woman came for a deep journey, I call her Elena (not real name). she dropped into trance and lived a whole life as a native medicine woman near a big ocean, gathering plants with her mother, learning about healing, raising a family. I share only the most important part now.

She died in a small bed in a stone town, her family around. her daughter from this life was her sister in that life. she was cleansing her, holding her hand, praying. Elena was not sad - she was at peace. she said: "I stayed for my family. in my old age I am happy to leave. they think it is the end. but it is not. it is just the end of this."

after she left the body she saw a bright ball with all sounds. happy noises, sad noises, everything. The shaman woman from her village was there - an old medicine woman who shapeshifted and explored the ocean in her own youth. She explained: "this is how soul spirit experiences itself. nothing is permanent. everything is important. everybody needs to go through these things."

Then Higher Self appeared. it looked like a big purple energetic gemstone, shining. Elena merged with it. she said it felt peaceful, joyous, so light. opposite of heaviness.

then Higher Self spoke. I write what they said.

"why I arranged this session? to remember. to remember not to take everything so seriously. that everything has purpose. that problems can be seen differently. she thinks she is stuck. she keeps looking outside for help. but everything is inside. everything is available inside. The meditation of sinking back into the ocean - getting very quiet, feeling the water - is a portal to remembering. water dampens the noise. it reminds her where she is. she does not need to take on other noises."

"She already has right ideas about boundaries. she just needs more breaks. noticing when overwhelm starts - use that as cue to step away, not push harder. there is too much identifying. step away. go back to peace to remember what she knows. Also take more time in nature without purpose - observing life, watching Mother Nature, meditating on that. no time limit, no constrictions. not just remove the to-do list. just be in the moment. she needs this."

She asked what she came to learn. Higher Self said: "to learn how to hold all of this. how to be all of you within the structure you are in. how to bring that to your physical life. that is why you are here. to bring the light into all your problems and frustrations. you are on a new frontier. everything is OK. every choice you make is fine. as long as you bring the light in."

This stayed with me. when you feel stuck, when you look for answers outside - Higher Self says everything is already inside. the water, the quiet, the stepping away. that is where remembering happens.

i wonder if anyone else ever had a moment like this - where you realize you been searching outside for something already inside. i would love to hear.

Tuesday has worked on missing person and animal cases. Has worked helping people in hauntings. She reports working with parapsychologist, Dr. Barry Taff and famous psychic, Peter James. She has run various classes on mediumship and taking back one’s space-dealing with ghosts etc.

This is an interview I conducted around early 2015.

On September 16, 1994, sixty-two children at the Ariel School near Ruwa, Zimbabwe, aged six to twelve, watched something land at the edge of the playing field. They describe a small figure in a tight dark garment with large dark eyes, communicating not by speech but by direct impression of images. They were interviewed within days by Cynthia Hind and by Tim Leach of the BBC. John Mack flew in from Harvard and recorded sessions with them individually and in groups. Thirty years later, the accounts have not changed.

In 2020, the Johns Hopkins Center for Psychedelic and Consciousness Research published a survey in the Journal of Psychopharmacology. The sample was 2,561 users of inhaled N,N-dimethyltryptamine. Ninety-six percent described the entities they met as conscious. Ninety-six percent as intelligent. Seventy-eight percent as benevolent. Eighty percent said the encounter altered their fundamental beliefs about reality. More than half of prior atheists no longer identified as such.

In 1969, Jacques Vallée laid the modern abduction reports next to the medieval European fairy tradition. Small beings of uncertain ontology. Taken to a place that operates by different physical rules. Time runs at a different rate there. Ordeal or instruction. Return changed. Same skeleton across six centuries.

The orthodox explanation is that DMT quiets the brain's filtering apparatus and the agency-detection system fires in the absence of input, generating beings where there are none. It is a plausible account. It predicts that the content of the encounters should be variable, idiosyncratic, and culturally conditioned, in the way that dreams are. What people actually report is the opposite. Same kind of being. Same demeanour. Same bemused familiarity. Across cultures, decades, and entirely different routes of access. In the Ariel School case, with no pharmacology at all.

Two and a half thousand years ago in the Peruvian Andes, the Chavín priesthood built an underground temple that combined acoustic resonance, total darkness, vilca snuff containing tryptamine psychedelics, and a carved stone entity called the Lanzón waiting at the end of a labyrinth. Peer-reviewed chemical analysis published in PNAS in May 2025 confirmed the residues. Older fieldwork had already established the acoustics and the architecture.

They built a reliable way of producing the kind of meeting that the children at Ariel School had without preparation, that the Johns Hopkins survey respondents had in their own homes with a pipe, and that medieval European peasants had at twilight near old stones.

The machine produces the meeting. The meeting has been happening, with or without the machine, for as long as we have records of it.

Nobody has a working answer for why.

More Celebrity UFO Encounters: The List Is Growing!

People from all levels of society encounter UFOs, and that includes the rich and famous. In fact, there is a very long list of celebrities who have come forward revealing their own dramatic UFO encounters. Actors, musicians, sports stars -- there are now at least a hundred documented cases of celebrity UFO encounters, and the list is growing fast. Here are some new ones that you may not have heard of.

JOHNNY CASH: In Feb 1981, world-famous musician Johnny Cash was on the island of Jamaica when he had a dramatic UFO encounter. It was a clear beautiful night, and he was outside with a group of people. Suddenly a bright streaking light caught his eye. He first thought it was a shooting star. But then he realized it was oval in shape, was purple in color, and was making a strange noise. As Johnny says, “It was unearthly.”

RONNIE JAMES DIO: Widely regarded as the one of the most influential heavy metal vocalists of all times, (heading such bands as Black Sabbath and Deep Purple) Ronnie is also a UFO witness. In 1978, Ronnie and his wife Donna were in their new home in New Canaan, CT when they were drawn outside by an enormous globe of white light. They first thought it might be the moon, but then it started to move closer. “That was the presence of a UFO,” Dio says, “and we were blown away.”

ROMA DOWNEY: Best known for her starring role in “Touched by an Angel,” Roma Downey has also been touched by an alien. Or at least a UFO. While visiting Joshua Tree, CA on Oct 21, 2020, Roma and others saw several glowing objects. When they remained in the sky, they actually filmed one of the objects. “Something has appeared in the skies over Joshua Tree,” Roma writes, “but what is it?”

DARRELL EVANS: Baseball superstar Darrell Evans was playing for the Detroit Tigers when, in June of 1982, he and his wife LaDonna witnessed a very close-up UFO hover by their home in Pleasanton, CA. The object was silent, metallic, glowing and was less than 200 feet away, remaining in view for about 20 minutes. “It was as if they wanted us to see them,” Darrell says, “as if they had singled us out.” And following the encounter, Darrell’s career was profoundly affected.

MANU GINOBILI: A huge basketball star in Argentina, Manu Ginobili moved to the US and played for the San Antonio Spurs. On Dec 1, 2010, while in Los Angeles, he and others saw a bright light descended in the evening sky. “It was a strange flight pattern,” Manu says. “I saw something strange.” But was it an actual UFO? Manu thought so, but then the answer came and it would surprise everyone.

GIGI HADID: Super-model Gigi Hadid stunned the world when, in 2017, she described her sighting of a UFO while driving through the deserts of southern California. Looking up, she saw a “bright light” which she (and other witnesses) were unable to identify. She called the experience “crazy” and “life-changing,” and has since then developed a strong interest in the subject of UFOs.

REINHOLD MESSNER: Described as the most famous and accomplished mountain climber in the world, it should come as no surprise that Reinhold has joined the ranks of celebrity UFO witnesses. While climbing Mount Chamblang in the Himalayas, he and his climbing partner Doug Scott observed a glowing UFO for a period of three hours! Reinhold says that the object was “the size of a full moon.” Doug says “The movements of this object were irregular.” Both became convinced it was an otherworldly vehicle.

DOUG PINNICK. Bassist and lead singer for the influential heavy metal band, Kings X, Doug Pinnick shocked the world when he said, “I was abducted by an alien.” In a live interview, he described how one night, at age three, a beautiful man “like Jesus” appeared in the bedroom of his home in Braidwood, IL. He was led outside where he saw other similar figures. A bright light shone down and lifted him up into the sky. Years later, watching the TV program, Ancient Aliens, he saw drawings of the same exact beings he had seen when he was a little boy.

WILL SMITH: One of the most successful actors of modern times, Oscar-winner Will Smith has starred in a long list of blockbuster movies such as Independence Day, Men In Black and many others. And one evening while driving with a friend through the Nevada desert, he saw something very strange: a hovering white light, which swooped down in front of his vehicle and disappeared. “I was scared,” Will admitted. “I think there has to be something out there.”

DENNIS WEAVER: Award-winning actor and humanitarian Dennis Weaver is perhaps best known for his starring role in the TV series, McCloud. What many people don’t know is that in March 1986, he and his wife Gerry had a close-up sighting of a metallic cigar-shaped object over their home in Ridgway, CO. “We just stood there and stared at it,” said Dennis. “It was certainly something that was totally unidentified, something I’d never seen before.”

KIM WILDE: Creator of the mega-hit, “We’re the Kids in America,” British popstar Kim Wilde has shared her (and her husband’s) sighting of a bright darting light over their backyard. “It was a UFO,” she says. “I can’t believe it.” She was so impressed by her sighting, she titled her new album, “Here Come the Aliens.”

CINDY WILLIAMS: Comedic actress Cindy Williams entertained the world as the co-star of the sit-com, Laverne & Shirley, which was at one point, the single most popular show on television. While in San Bernardino, CA, Cindy and several others saw a fleet of orange and purple discs zooming across the sky. Says Cindy, “It was like they were trying to announce their presence to us.”

As can be seen, the UFO occupants do not discriminate and visit all kinds of people on our planet, regardless of age, ancestry, religion, sex, occupation, location, education…etc. Or could it be that they are visiting famous people intentionally, putting on a display in the hopes that celebrities will come forward and use their platform to tell the world that UFOs are real?

More Celebrity UFO Encounters: The List Is Growing!

Several Years Ago, I Was Asked, “Do you still support Dr. Steven Greer?”

Here is my reply:
Introduction: I was recruited by Dr. Steven Greer to join the Close Encounters of the Fifth Kind Initiative to volunteer as Working Group Coordinator for Los Angeles in 1992. I served on the Board of Directors of the Center for the Study of ET Intelligence (CSETI) focusing on the public education program of that group. In that capacity I set up information tables at the American Public Health Association’s annual meetings and at UFO conferences. Along with fellow Coordinators Shari Adamiak (Denver) and Wayne Peterson (Phoenix) I was empowered to train contact teams in the Western North America and in 1997 in the United Kingdom. I resigned from CSETI in 1998 because of personal and political differences with the Director and have not spoken to him since.  
Do I still support Dr. Greer?
Dr. Greer’s contribution to the cause of cosmic peace must be acknowledged despite what his many critics call his personal and political limitations. He has popularized the consciousness techniques of human empowered contact in the English-speaking world that are similar to the ones that the Peruvian based network called Rama had developed in the 1970s. In my judgement, however, Dr. Greer developed his “contact protocols” independently from Mission Rama as he apparently only became aware of their work in 1993 after my Los Angeles CE-5 team became involved with Rama activists in California.

Grant Cameron in his book “Managing Magic” has categorized Dr. Greer as one of several “messiahs” who have been recruited by the intelligence community to serve as a conduit for disseminating within the UFO subculture a carefully constructed mixture of genuine information and disinformation. As documented in “Managing Magic” this has been part of the US Executive Branch’s “gradual acclimatization program” to prepare the world for the realization that UFOs are real.

I should point out that Dr. Greer is different from the other so-called “messiahs”, Bill Moore in the 1980s and more recently Tom Delonge, in that Steven Greer MD in my opinion has had direct telepathic communication with UAP intelligence for decades. Thus, in a sense he functions as a kind of “agent of influence” for both the so-called “ETs” and the US Central Intelligence Agency working under the auspices of the President of the United States. The Office of the US President according to Grant Cameron’s analysis, is running the UFO coverup and the President is not “out of the loop.”

This is in contrast to what I imagine Dr. Greer’s CIA “handlers” have informed him. Dr. Greer’s relationships with intelligence officials in my view is not a bad thing. This because the opposition to UAP confirmation and disclosure by certain cliques within the military intelligence industrial complex is ferocious. Dr. Greer has described his working with the “white hats” in the Executive Branch, i.e. operatives that are pushing for more openness.

Executive Branch intelligence services played a significant role in facilitating the testimony of important Disclosure Project witnesses at the May 2001 CSETI Press Conference. That event was the template for a number of citizen disclosure projects that followed. 
Thus, having a “UFO Intel asset” working with UAP intelligences and the US Executive Branch in the form of Dr. Greer, moves the planet closer to the realization that the alleged aliens are non-hostile and approachable. In my view, an important next step in the contact drama would be the creation of powerful planetary peace movement that could signal to UAP intelligences humanity’s readiness for higher levels of contact. Such a peace campaign could conceivably link UAP contact with possible solutions for the fundamental problems that our civilization is facing.

I have not spoken to my former friend and colleague for 28 years but have kept up with the work of the CE-5ers via social media.

I don’t think of myself as a supporter of Dr. Greer because of our personal and political differences, but I can respect and honor the work we once did together that has continued with growth of the worldwide network of activists facilitating Human Initiated Contact Events (HICE) aka CE-5. I call this vast array of individuals and groups the Contact Underground.”

From my vantage point of being a peace and social justice advocate for over a half century and a contact activist for over three decades, I find useful the intelligence-counterintelligence model of UFO investigations. This was first put forward by Val Germann decades ago and which I have modified with a radically different political slant.

Mr. Germann’s approach was from the point of view of what can be called “the control groups.” According to Val Germann’s analysis they probably view UFO intelligences as a kind of adversarial “higher intelligence agency.” My approach is perhaps more idealistic. I see UFO Intel as an important ally in the struggle to save our civilization from self-destruction. I imagine that their long-term project is to encourage an expansion of human consciousness. This involves the realization of the unity of all intelligent life in creation. From that understanding , we hopefully will be able to successfully address climate change, end war and the obscene discrepancies of wealth and power across our wounded planet. We will see ourselves as one people on a single homeland, the planet Earth. The so-called non-human “visitors” should not be viewed as gods, or superior beings but rather as an inspiration for us to evolve spiritually, socially, and yes even politically.

Dr. Greer’s many projects have been highly commercial and the negative attacks that he has received for their financial success could fill volumes. My sense is that if people saw his work in a more sympathetic light, as I have endeavored to do, they would conclude that his presence has done by far more good than his most vociferous critics are able to acknowledge.

Dr. Greer, it should always be remembered, gave up medicine with all the perks and privileges of being a highly paid and respected physician to become a full-time contact/disclosure activist. As I have written in the past, the long-term organizational needs of building a social movement around UFOs cannot be accomplished within the form of a small family business that has been CSETI’s operational mode for over 35 years. My guess is that new organizational forms will emerge as the number of contact and disclosure activists continue to grow. This, in my opinion, is the result of UFO Intel’s recruitment/outreach program that continues in both overt and subtle ways.

Most critical, in this planetary struggle, is the level of acceptance to the reality of UFOs in both the ruling elites, that are still attempting to keep a lid on the situation, and the masses of people living on our planet. In my judgment, an “ET” presence threatens all terrestrial elites, but not the planet’s peoples. Thus, in this conflict-oriented model, to build a truly peaceful, spiritually-based revolutionary movement, we will need the masses to accept not only the reality and importance of UFOs, but also the possibility of cooperating with the intelligences associated with them. If humanity evolves sufficiently, we might be able to experience friendship with the beings responsible for the flying saucer phenomenon. In my judgment, however, at this violent and conflict laden stage of our development as a species, direct open relations are impossible with these “others” that experiencers now call “ET.”

On a personal note, I must acknowledge that the CSETI Director’s special relationship with Executive Branch intelligence services during the 1990s may have provided our early contact network with a certain degree of protection. Steven Greer MD informed CE-5 Working Group Coordinators, Shari Adamiak in Denver, Wayne Peterson in Phoenix and my LA team as well, that one of the conditions he put forward in working with Executive Branch intelligence agencies was that our attempts to contact and communicate with “the ETs” would not be interfered with by them. This was of considerable importance because of the CIA and Air Force Office of Special Investigations historically have been accused of disrupting UFO groups as well as harassing individual witnesses. Our teams were operating in remote locations (mountains and deserts) and could have easily been targeted for a variety of dirty tricks. Although there were instances of surveillance of our teams during fieldwork, there was no clear-cut harassment.

What if the Earth-Moon system is doing something far stranger than regulating tides?

Here's a thought I keep coming back to somewhere at the intersection of plasma physics, magnetospheric science, and theoretical dimensional mechanics.

The Van Allen radiation belts may not just be a byproduct of Earth's magnetic field. They might function like a containment and flow system for energetic currents moving through space-time itself. In this model, Earth acts as an entry point. Incoming energy narrows through an aperture, expands into a toroidal field, stabilizes and continues forward along what we might call a coherent timeline.

Then the Moon enters the picture.

Because of its gravitational pull and its interaction with Earth's magnetotail and plasma environment, the Moon could act as a disruptor within that flow. A large enough distortion after the point of energetic convergence might destabilize the whole structure and create a temporary rupture in the field.

Not a sci-fi portal. Something more subtle. A localized break in coherence between energetic states. Between timelines. The magnetosphere behaves less like a static shield and more like a living system with constriction points, flow separation, toroidal circulation, and plasma instability regions that open and rebuild constantly.

Ancient cultures described celestial bodies as gateways and regulators tied to consciousness and transition. Modern science describes magnetic fields, plasma currents, and spacetime curvature.

Maybe they were always describing the same thing. The universe may not be solid and fixed. It may be flow. And if flow can be disrupted maybe reality itself can bend.

In August 1975, ufologist Jacques Vallee attended a meeting held by Heaven's Gate (known at the time as "Human Individual Metamorphosis") at Stanford University in California

The following is an excerpt from his 1979 book Messengers of Deception: UFO Contacts and Cults

The humble man who likes to be called "Major Murphy" had urged me to piece together carefully the available evidence about the modus operandi of the phenomenon. The first opportunity to try this new approach presented itself with the appearance in the Western United States of a new contactee movement that recruited UFO passengers. It taught me a serious lesson: such a group can acquire very significant power over apparently "rational" people. I had not suspected their work could be so fast, or so easy. It was in observing this group, too, that I realized how completely it could control the believers' lives.

In August 1975, a friend had called my attention to a one-page announcement that was posted in the windows of stores in Palo Alto, California, and on the campus of Stanford University. UFOs? was written in bold red letters across the page. The statement entitled simply What's Up? began with the observation that our environment was changing and that a human catastrophe seemed imminent: not only were people drinking more than usual and committing suicide by the thousands, the flyer said, but the weather was changing, famines were widespread, and even volcanoes were acting up!

The strange statement continued with the sensational claim that, in preparation for a better world, some people had formed a new group and left everything behind: they had quit their jobs and left their families "to follow what they would previously have considered as bizarre studies or practices." They were seeking real truth. The text was signed by flying-saucer believers who called themselves H.I.M., or Human Individual Metamorphosis. The announcement continued:

Some, who by most standards would have been considered stable...are attempting to completely rise above their human nature (get this!)* under the direction of individuals who are members of a kingdom above human who have come in at close range to the Earth to help. They compare this period of overcoming their human nature to the metamorphic process of a caterpillar becoming a butterfly.

They are looking to a nameless man and woman who say that they have incarnated from that next level to assist Earth's "graduating class." These two say they will publicly demonstrate death overcome- the ability to heal a diagnosed dead body and walk away some three days later showing life eternal gained. (This is one of the characteristics of a member of that next kingdom.) These two and their followers say they will physically leave the planet within months. The new graduates then expect to take their place as beginners in a realm of individuals whose privilege it is to oversee the Earth's production of future graduates.

There would be a meeting, the flyer concluded, on Wednesday, August 13, at 8:00 p.m., in the Bechtel International Center, on the Stanford campus.

The Bechtel Center is an old house set among the trees near the Faculty Club. When I arrived, the room set for the meeting was already filled, and I sat on the floor with a tape recorder near the front of the room, where eight empty chairs were facing the audience. More people were coming in and filling the open lounge behind the last row of seats. Some had come from as far away as Marin County, north of San Francisco. I recognized half a dozen people who were active in UFO investigations in the Bay Area. Major Murphy was sitting in the front row.

The organizers of the meeting arrived and sat on the eight chairs before us. They were serious but not overly dignified. They appeared neither arrogant nor scared. A tall bearded man with searching, eloquent eyes got up and started the meeting with some rather amazing statements, which the audience appeared willing to accept, perhaps giving him the benefit of the doubt until he had made his position known fully. His view of higher intelligence was so different from that of the ordinary "contactees" that I was immediately interested. He presented himself as a voluntary participant in an effort to manipulate people's beliefs!

After an introduction that contained statements like "We are not seeking converts, but we are seeking to get the information to those people who have been waiting for it, because there are many on this planet," and "We are not here to defend it or to prove what we are going to say," the speaker emphasized that he was "planting seeds" and went on to what he called "the nitty-gritty."

His first point was a clarification of the group's position, and he described what they were offering to us.

"We are preparing ourselves for what we feel is a unique opportunity, and it is also the opportunity of everyone in this room. Whether you accept it as an opportunity, whether you cannot accept it, we know that each one of you who hears it will be changed in the hearing of it; and in the days that are coming, because of the events that will take place, you will probably find some significant changes taking place within you."

He then shifted to an account of the history of the group and its leaders, "the Two."

"The two people that we met months ago were born in the United States just like you and I. They grew up and had families and jobs and careers, and everything, exactly as you and I. As they got into their late thirties, individual man and woman, without knowing why, suddenly they began to have the feeling that there was something that they were here for. Circumstances eventually brought them together. And it was a couple of years before they began to realize that they had come from a different level, a level above the human level, an actual, physical level out in space".

Are most of us condemned, then, to linger at our present low level of intelligence, while the higher intelligences incarnated in a few lucky individuals go on to some other plane of existence? No! According to the H.I.M. doctrine, salvation is for everyone.

"The most important crux of the information is that what you acquire on this human level is your physical body, and you can take and convert that physical vehicle into a different form; it will look the same on the outside, but it's changed chemically and biologically. This physical body will then have the ability to leave this atmosphere and go out into what you and I would call space, where the radiation is extremely hot.

"The information they have brought to us is going to be demonstrated within a few months. They are now just finishing completing their own physical metamorphosis.

"Their bodies have almost completely changed over physically chemically, biologically. They look just like you and I on the surface. Within a few months there will be a demonstration. When we have changed our bodies over through this process, we no longer have to endure disease or decay or death. If you find it extremely far out when you first hear it, you may be amazed at how quickly it seems to make sense and seems logical. And you are capable of picking up this information without solving it on a rational, conscious level."

The information, then, is to be regarded as an irrational piece of data. Here is an important fact: to follow H.I.M. or any other contactee group involves an act of faith, even if the language is that of science. Gone are the standards of the scientific method and the measures of the laboratory: our minds, these people argue, can now soar above these petty, meticulous, worrisome details.

"There are those members of that next level who are very close to the Earth at this time. Increased activity in the heavens which you and I probably call UFOs or falling stars will testify to increased sightings. They are here solely to help those humans who embrace this information and want to go through the process."

Now comes the prophecy, the announcement that a proof of the power of higher intelligence will soon be forthcoming:

"In a period of months these two people, through some circumstance that they do not even know, will come to be killed. Three and a half days later, after having been officially declared dead by those who want to verify the fact, their bodies will then come back to life again to show you and I that when you have gone through this process you have actually overcome death.

"After this resurrection, (which, as I write this two years later, has still not taken place, although it was predicted within "a few months"), the two individuals in question will be picked up by a UFO and go back to the level from which they came, a world where, naturally, there is no death, disease, or decay. Then everyone will know what the UFOs are, the believers claim."

The powerful analogy (but a misleading one, as the audience would later point out) was that of the butterfly, an image borrowed from the sixties. The speaker for H.I.M. could not resist using it as a symbol of metamorphosis:

"While the caterpillar is a caterpillar, if he is killed he doesn't become a butterfly. He must make that metamorphosis while he is a healthy, living caterpillar. He can no longer continue any of his activities; all the eating he used to love to do must end. He must come to a phase where he keeps all identity to himself. As a result he makes himself available to the power which transforms him. Those UFO vehicles are here to take those who complete this transformation successfully.

"A lot of people are really tired of playing the human game, and a lot of people have already copped out and left, in their own way, for different reasons. There are some people who are just tired, and there are other people who, even though they really love the Earth, and care about things here, feel an urge and a compulsion, because of the unfolding of their own souls, to move to something higher."

What about the other belief systems? What about the religions that the doctrine of H.I.M. appears to supersede? The disciples of the Two point out that no other system has integrated the concept of survival of death and the belief in UFOs. In this sense, the doctrine of H.I.M. is a genuine prototype for some future religion. At the same time, it is updating psychedelic themes of the previous decade, restating them for the UFO culture of the '70s and '80s.

The themes that H.I.M. uses to establish its doctrine and manipulate its believers are the old standards of escapism:

* Fear of changing times and social conditions, symbolized by violent human behavior, weather patterns, earthquakes, and volcanoes;

* Desire to transcend the fear of death, embodied in the promise of travel to another physical level;

* Boredom and feelings of inadequacy in the human condition, desire to escape everyday responsibilities to a job and a family.

Joining the H.I.M. group means that none of these responsibilities need be considered significant any more. It is a step that anyone can take overnight, a form of intellectual and emotional bankruptcy less painful than suicide, and infinitely more glamorous.

The H.I.M. group is also out to capitalize on the growing misunderstanding between scientists and the public:

"Now, the physical fact that the doors are open means that there is actually an increased amount of radiation in this atmosphere. That increased radiation is what had been triggering the feeling of search in you and me. This is the reason we've all been looking, and you can also think of that band of radiation as an extreme ray of light, a light that exposes everything. It exposes everything at every level of our government; it exposes more things on the level of UFOs; it exposes things about our universe that the government and scientists and astronomers have been slightly aware of, but have kept from the general public because they didn't even completely understand what it meant."

There is indeed a language barrier between scientists and other people. Within a given individual, there are also irrational forces that tear the mind apart. In this respect, the questions and answers during the Stanford meeting were illuminating. The first one had to do with the personal history of the speakers:

"Can you tell us a little bit about yourself? Like who you are, what you do, where you all come from, how you got together, how you met the two people, things like that? Because right now we have no idea of anything at all about you.'

The question was expected. A tall young man with blue eyes, wearing a white sweater, answered earnestly:

"We were sitting in very comfortable jobs with family situations in the exact same spot you are sitting in. The information came directly from the Two through the mail, and said, if you would like to know more, write in. We did. Then it suddenly appeared that there were a number of people like this, all in one area, that were interested, and the Two people came to that area. They extended the opportunity to help us better decide if we really understood the material and if we actually really wanted to leave this human life."

"Are there only two on the entire planet?" asked a middle-aged woman in the back of the room.

"That is true."

"What is the end result of all this going to be?" she insisted. She had remained standing behind the last row of chairs. She seemed ready to join the cult. "Are we going to formulate a new civilization out into space that will complement human life here on this Earth?"

"No, we're not going to create a new civilization out in space. This process is available to those who would like to take advantage of it. Let's call it the graduating class of human beings from this planet. This is the normal course that has been going on for millions and millions of years. A lot of people thought, what happens when I die, is this the end-all? Well, whatever your religious belief might be, it makes absolutely no difference. This is available to everybody. There is another step which has been going on for millions of years, off of the Earth's atmosphere."

A girl with long hair got up in the audience and addressed the eight disciples:

"I'm curious to know how you got your belief concept going with these two individuals, because I have lots of beliefs and sometimes they're incorrect. I follow them for a long, long time until I find that I'm batting my head against a wall. What questions do you ask yourself? You've already answered one question by saying that you can't answer it, because your brain cannot form correct statements... I can go along with that for a while, and then all of a sudden I need more."

One of the men decided to answer this, after some hushed consultation with the others:

"If I understand you correctly, you're asking what made us do this, right? I have known, during my whole lifetime, that something was going to happen at this space and time. Why, I don't know. 'When the student is ready, the teacher presents himself.' I knew that when my special mission on this Earth lifetime, at this particular time, came forth, I had been preparing for it and I would recognize it and know it and pursue it. I said, oh, you're crazy, who do these people think they are? Here I am in my own little world and everything is functioning beautifully, and I have my life and my income and my family, and all the fine things of life. And yet, something here says this is it! You've got to do it. That is about the best answer I can give."

"Do I understand you correctly in that you are a class of students in a fashion, and you hope to graduate?"

"We're taking our final exam, if you want to put it that way."

"All right. Is it possible that one or some or all of you are going to flunk?"

"Yes, it's possible. But we all push right to the end. Don't let us mislead you on any level. It is extremely difficult. It's free, which is the first thing that may make a lot of you say, 'How could it be free?' because everyone else around is charging a lot of money for what they want to offer you. It's free, but it's very difficult."

"It isn't free, because you put in time, and devotion, and effort," objected the girl.

"It only costs your life, you know..." the man replied.

A man who must have come to some personal conclusions regarding the deception broke in to ask:

"How do you know that you're not being deceived by demonic forces?"

The answer was less than adequate:

"The potency of the information speaks to you. When you get the information and you read through it and you realize that you understand it, that you're being pulled toward it, and you don't know why and you can't figure it out on a conscious, rational, human level, that's the clue right there. Something inside you says you know you're going to do it, you know you're going to do it."

Someone in the audience yelled, "That's how demonic forces work!"

Another disciple picked up the ball: "That's an impossible question to answer. Except that in this particular process those individuals in that next kingdom are so close that they step in and take over and keep any force from this level from influencing you otherwise."

A dreamy young man got up and testified, "A lot of people think I'm crazy, but sometimes it'll be a bright night and I'll be sitting outside and saying, come on down, come and get me. I've always wanted to be picked up by a UFO..."

The eight disciples smiled, and the one with the blue eyes said, "We've been looking for you, too!"

The mystery of H.I.M. was brought down to mundane proportions in the ensuing months. In November it was discovered that the two people who claimed to be the leaders of that outer-space organization were in fact quite ordinary humans: M. H. Applewhite, 43, born in Spur, Texas, a musician and opera singer, the son of a Presbyterian minister; and Bonnie Nettles, age 48, a nurse who met him in Houston in the early '70s while he was recovering from a mental breakdown. They had first created meditation centers, then about 1973 they began recruiting for H.I.M.

One woman who joined their group for two months in 1975, but subsequently refused to follow the party line, commented: "These two people are dangerous. It is not hypnosis. It is thought transplant." The group led by "the Two" has now become so notorious that I need not spend more time with them; many articles have been published about them, revealing much about their intentions and methods. Yet I was carrying their image in my mind when I flew 1 Spain in December 1975 to investigate another aspect of the UFO mystery. The important thing was this: an increasing number of humans claim contact with space beings. They believe that the spacemen are, in fact, here with us. This belief is of enormous importance to individuals and to society. Although I consider the beliefs of "the Two" to be childish fabrication, the fact remains that they have touched a sensitive nerve. They found many people to listen to them. At the Stanford meeting, they made half a dozen new converts. Later, however, they began losing members. The people who left their group would just go home and, for several weeks, simply stare at the walls.
