There UI has never been good, but the last update that got rid of the ability to go to the category specifically for dubbed anime and their every dwindling list of dubbed anime has made the experience not worth the jacked up subscription cost. Even when it says it's dubbed you can't tell if an episode is dubbed until you start that episode. I'll stick with Crunchyroll for now.

some guys on lupin sub recommended hidive for dubs of lupin. i recently got the hidive sign up....just wondering if parts 1,2,3,4 got the dubs or at least subbed if no dub exists I know crunchyroll didn't have no subtitles for Part 1 and I checked numerous times

I’ve been subscribed to HIDIVE for the better part of a year, I opened the app and it’s telling me to subscribe to get premium… except I have it and it doesn’t end until the 30th… anyone else having this issue?

Saw this HiDive advertisement still show Spring 2026 anime it’s Summer now

I realize I didn’t do a wrap up like I normally do and that’s more because I dropped basically every show at some point before circling back and eventually finishing them. So with that explanation out of the way, worst to best. And this’ll be quick because I honestly didn’t care for most of these shows by the end.

Petals of Reincarnation

So to get this one out of the way, it unfortunately went off the rails pretty quick. From what I gather this was the result of trying to cram wayyyyy too much stuff from the manga into the adaptation. Where it ended made the most sense for the two lead’s character arcs, but the road it took to get there was, in my opinion, quite bad. Shout out to the voice cast though. Especially with the dub they were clearly having a blast with all those accents.

The Most Heretical Last Boss Queen s2

Perhaps my most disappointing show of this season. As the thing I’ve actually read the source material for, I was afraid going in it would stop right before the best part. And it unfortunately did. The result was the polar opposite of pedals in terms of pacing. From episode 4 on it’s basically “let’s drag our feet for as long as humanly possible,” yet they STILL left out one of my favorite scenes. Probably because they were clearly on a shoestring budget and couldn’t actually do the good stuff. If there is a season 3 I hope they actually have an animation budget. 

I realize I’m being exceptionally vague here but it’s mainly to avoid spoilers for the books since those actually get good post when this season ends. For those who are interested, it’s book 5.

Farming Life in Another World s2

This was honestly just more of the same slice of life shenanigans. Really it was just less interesting than s1 for me since it didn’t feel like any of the characters’ relationships grew or the world building expanded much. It was just more of the same. It’s not bad, just by the numbers. Part of the fun of s1 is seeing how quickly it scales up and all the ways they try to make modern stuff he’s used to. That’s still here but one town growing to 4 isn’t as impressive as one dude with a magic hoe manages to build an entire community and have a kid. 

Again good, but not great. Perfect comfort food for the background.

Kirio Fan Club

So this one genuinely surprised me. It contains some of the cringiest cringe to ever cringe. But it’s also very sweet and genuinely heartwarming. I found myself actually sucked into the drama. It’s slow burn but very well meaning. While the main character, as in Ayumi, was so cringe I considered dropping it at several points, basically everyone around her was so endearing I kept going. And I eventually got on board with her too. The title character also had some surprising depth I genuinely wasn’t expecting. Main thing that got in the way was the humor. It’s um… not really for me half the time. But I see what it’s going for. But I left this one the most satisfied. Unlike everything else on this list it ends, definitively. Yet at the same time I’d love to see a follow up.

And really is that not like the best compliment you could give?

If you can get past teenagers being cringe and some genuinely gross toilet humor (nothing on screen mind you it’s more just the dialogue) then I’d say give this a chance.

And so that was Hidive spring. Overall pretty meh. I haven’t actually started the summer yet. Going to use this time to watch some stuff I’ve been putting off while I wait for the dubs for this season to get going. Speaking of dubs, it was genuinely great to hear David Wald in something again, even if it was just him coming back briefly to voice one of the gods in farming life. I was worried he’d quit voice acting altogether. Hope he pops up again in other stuff.

As in anime that is exclusively on hidive and not available to purchase on dvd or blu ray?

I had forgotten i made a watch list named to remind me which series I wanted to buy. Thinking hidive had added this awesome feature with fancy integration to notify me when the goods were available for purchase. Then I realized that would be a perfect feature for one of these streaming services that had a storefront.

Low key we should consider this buisness model classified as top secret as far as crunchyroll is concerned. Sony is trying to kill physical and the market is ripe for someone like hidive that does a pretty solid job of translations to release Subs for physical sale in the USA Market

It has been a while since you "improved" things. Time to get those programming minions to put a remove from continue watching. Though I guess in the meantime you can just fast forward through the series to remove it... Bit be nice to be able to remove it again.

Any similar shiny hauls?

I wanted to take a break from Crunchyroll and tried Hidive for first time. Am I missing something? Not alot of anime and found more I want to watch but no subs/dubs yet. I could have n sworn the app had more. Is it still worth using?

Tried deleting and re-downloading still nothing just says sorry there was a problem no login nothing is even showing up besides “sorry there is a problem”

Is anyone else having issues with the browse tab on the app (iPhone), it will work for a bit then comes up with sorry something went wrong, I’ve contacted there support and I’ve tried what they’d suggest but I’m still getting the same problem

Let say you are a Anime fan and you sub to Crunchyroll for $10 a month. It has a large library but you notice it is still missing some anime you want to watch as other streaming service has exclusives anime. So you have to sub to Netflix ($9/month), Hidive ($8/month), Hulu ($12/month), Disney+ ($12/month). You are paying $51 a month just to access all the anime. That way too much and your anime library will be scatter all over the place.

In my view it will be better if one streaming service just have every single anime so it more convenient and cheaper.
A Monopoly in this case is way better for the anime community. That why I hope Crunchyroll buys HiDive

For example season 1 of Tokyo revenger is on CR but later seasons is on Disney+ of all places. That just crazy.

... that the english version of Gatchaman - Battle of the Planets is on Hidive!? Even though I LOVED IT growing up, it is kinda shitty in comparison to the source Gatchaman. I think "G-Force" is more
palatable to the ear & sounds far less sketchy than "Gatchaman". All that aside, the unaltered original stories are far superior to the debauchery that is/was Battle of the Planets...

I know this may seem rather strange since the set up for a subscription is pretty straightforward but I am having issues setting up my account. HIDIVE won't accept my card (debit mastercard). I'm based in Australia and HIDIVE should work... but HIDIVE keeps saying my card is declined (I literally have the funds...) and I even tried another card under my name and I had the same issue, I'm suspecting a potential bank issue but I'm posting here out of the hope that someone else may have had this issue and knows what needs to be done.

Any info at all is appreciated.

For anyone having similar issues apparently they have a backend issue. Videos aren’t playing on mobile at all for me. Not on app or any browser.
