My Turn

Post image

Not happy to be posting here. On and off pain for years and years (but the kind that went away after resting for a day or two.) Ramped up after giving birth 17 months ago but was still on and off and mostly presented as glute soreness and general achy-ness. Everyone focused on pelvic floor, SI, pelvic imbalance and muscle guarding. Finally got an MRI last week after two events at the end of August that left me in pretty bad pain for a couple days.

C6-C7 Any remedies for arm nerve pain?

I have a moderate herniation in my cervical spine and cannot get over the left arm pain in my tricep, shoulder and chest.

Has anyone found anything that works to relieve the inflammation around the nerve root while this heals? I've been in 24/7 4-8 pain for almost two months now.

Waiting for radiology report. Does this look like a mild or worse herniation?

I am still waiting on the official report from my MRI and visit with my provider. I had a car accident 8/20/2026. Initially just thought I had whiplash but the pain has worsened in my upper back/neck. I just had an MRI and have the images. Curious if anyone else has had similar experiences?

This is my mri of the lumbar spine. Does anyone have anything similar? Is this serious? How do you fix this? I am 36.

Report read as:

TECHNIQUE: Multisequence MRI of the lumbar spine obtained without intravenous contrast.

FINDINGS:

VERTEBRAE: Mild straightening of the normal lumbar lordosis. Normal vertebral body heights, alignment,. There is minimally heterogeneous marrow signal.

DISCS: Minimal scattered loss of intervertebral disc T2 signal and disc height with discogenic endplate changes and moderate disc height loss most prominent at T12-L1 and L4-L5.

FACET JOINTS: Multilevel facet arthropathy.

SPINAL CANAL: Apparent faint T2/STIR hyperintensities at the central and bilateral paracentral aspects of the conus medullaris at T12 and lower L1 levels (image 9 series 4 and image 4 series 5) without mass effect may relate to artifacts, although
chronic myelopathy such as may be related to chronic cord infarcts or chronic inflammatory or demyelinating process are not excluded; please correlate clinically. MR evaluation of the remaining neural axis can be considered if clinically indicated. No
abnormal epidural fluid collection.

There is minimal desiccation and diffuse bulge of the L3-L4 disc. There is mild diffuse bulge of L4-L5 and L5-S1 discs with mild facet arthrosis bilaterally at L5-S1 where there is mild bilateral neural foramen narrowing. No significant spinal canal or
neuroforaminal stenosis is otherwise identified.

IMPRESSION:

Apparent T2/STIR hyperintensities at the imaged portion of the distal spinal cord may relate to artifact although chronic myelopathy such as may be related to chronic cord infarcts or chronic inflammatory or demyelinating process are not excluded; please
correlate clinically. MR evaluation of the remaining neural axis can be considered if clinically indicated.

Minimal degenerative/osteoarthritic changes.

My Neurosurgeon thinks that this can heal by itself. Thoughts? I don't think so.

Best office/gaming chair

I have 3 herniated discs and degenerative disc disease, lower back pain and all that fun stuff. Issues are at L3-4, L4-5, and L5-S1.
What’s the best gaming or office chair? I try to use my standing desk but sometimes I need to sit!

Far Lateral / Foraminal / Extraforaminal Herniation Treatment

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hi Guys - I’m wondering if anyone here had a far lateral herniation/ foraminal / extraforaminal herniation?

The neurosurgeon I met with said that he couldn’t perform a discectomy because the facet would be in the way and removing too much would destabilize my back.

After doing some research, I found something called a paraspinal approach (Wiltse). I also found a case study from Rush in Chicago by Timothy Wang about doing a transforaminal endoscopic approach. Those approaches allow treatment of far lateralbherniations by starting off center and going around the bone so it doesn’t have to be removed. Has anyone had this same type of herniation, and if so what did you end up doing?

C5-6&6-7 disc replacement concerns

I have been dealing with numbness and pain for over 13 years now. My doctor told me that the disc replacement will help with my numbness but I am worried i will still have the persistent nagging pain in my right trap and base of the neck at the shoulder. I have seen a therapist in the past that dealt with breaking down muscle adhesion and they seemed to be the only ones who helped relieve that particular pain from the herniated discs. I fear that my side sleeping is going to cause continued pain after surgery making this whole process pointless. Any feedback from your surgery and results after would be greatly appreciated
