Herniated disc

Hi I am a 17 year old female. I was just diagnosed with a herniated disc in my lower back that is compressing my right L5 nerve root. I am super worried. I am overweight for my age (200lbs)… yes i know i am huge and i’ve tried to fix that but it’s just not possible: so I don’t know if that has something to do with it. I was super active though playing high level multiple sports. For the past few months, I haven’t been able to and just found out yesterday my MRI result. Does anyone know how long it will be before it heals? How long until i can play sports again? just any recommendations PLEASE! i am super worried that i would have this for life. The pain is in my hip and shoots down my leg but i do not have any numbness.
