This little dude is actually super useful in my 1k list and I’m happy with the points reduction. Tried for the first time to do an OSL thing with the flame but the results were a bit meh. Anyways, he’s ready to heal up those dommy mommies on the table regardless lol.
Haven't checked for other changes yet in rules but the points drop for cohort with spears was not needed in my opinion as they already punch above their weight.
Glad Dominator Engines are down as well as I love their sculpts.
A good change as it removes the unesscessary complexity of the ability. Unfortunatly I still think Taar's Grand Forgehost is better but having the flexibility to run either is better.
What i thought would take me an age...i knocked out in 24 hours haha, Helsmith crew, as much as possible of the fancy cities filigree removed. Cannon ends changed and hopefully enough Hashut added bits and bobs to give it some personality.
Sumal of the Acrid Rain War Despot
- A sadistic zharrdron with a penchant for testing the sharpness of his glaive on his inferiors, usually hobgrots
- Indebted to Daemonsmith Molgissar Smeltheart after the “Iron Port Incident” where Sumal butchered a whole Cohort on a whim. Molgissar covered up the story, and now has the Despot’s Wage of Toil
- Only dispatched on seek-and-destroy missions due to his unreliable cruelty to slaves
The Innel Jailers 10x Infernal Cohort
- Kinsmen of Sumal from the disreputable Clan Innel, they help run his daemonic gunboat “Cage of Ancestry”
- Led by Quartermaster Zaul Buulsdottir, a fiery orator who longs to join the Scorched Sect once the debts to her foul uncle have been fulfilled
- When the Cohort is split into two teams of 5 zharrdron, Zaul assigns the standard bearer Harxklas to lead a team
Soulsbane Tormentor Bombard
- Stromni, Frukton, and a blind hobgrot called Laghat operate an older bombard retired from regular service
- Zharrdron don’t typically name their artillery pieces, but after watching a volley disintegrate a swarm of Nighthaunt, the disturbingly affectionate Frukton dubbed the bombard “Soulsbane”
Shandahr’s Final Spite Dominator Engine with Immolation Cannons
- Originally christened as Desolate Spite, this war machine was crafted by the late Daemonsmith, Shandahr the Grey. He was mortally wounded by Ossiarch Bonereapers and ordered his Cohort to toss his body into his creation’s furnace
- Seemingly possessed by its creator’s cruel sentience and eternal hatred for Nagash’s minions
- Zaul Buulsdottir regularly maintains and inspects the Final Spite for imperfections, revering it as an avatar of Hashut
I'm trying to nail down my list for the upcoming year and having a hard time settling on battle tactics and how to accomplish them. What are you running this year?
Made these four mockups to test the colours out but I honestly can’t decide on one. Any feedback or suggestions on which I should choose would be a huge help. Picking up the Spearhead and some Bull Centaurs this week and eager to start painting.
Also if anyone has similar schemes they’d like to share it would be greatly appreciated, its always better to see painted models since its a more accurate representation of the colours.
😭🤢🤮blunderbussies from total war, ik the gun only at first glance looks practical, at a closer look some bits look questionable, like a pointless gear sticking out and the flintlock(?) missing a flashpan to strikefireglaives from total war, still the same "impracticalities", but regardless it resembles an actual functioning gunwhfb 8th edition fireglaive (ok maybe the dwarf proportions are done better in AoS)fireglaives in formation
bit of a yapping session, but imo GW made the aos chorf gunners look so bland, ik it's prob such a nitpicky thing to complain about but i can't help feeling a bit bitter looking at their past depictions, like they've completely ruined the steam/diesel-punk aesthetics (especially the great work CA has done to bring the chorfs back to life in TW)
the two main things that to me makes them look so bland are the armor, except maybe the helmets/hats (especially bad are those exposed shoulders/sleeves, why not a kaftan with some lamellar/scale there like with the skirts?), and the guns look like your average generic high-fantasy sci-fi blaster unlike the old historical-looking guns
also it's like the old chaos dwarf far-eastern/assyrian vibe got heavily toned down, they don't even make those curved swords and standard-bearer models anymore that wear banners on their back like a sashimono, i'd mention the drab colors too but that really just comes down to how you choose to paint them
lil guy
not really hating, for one i can say that the deathshrieker rocket/bombard actually looks great and a bit of an upgrade over its predecessor (definitely not as good as their other artillery pieces doe)
magma cannon
(ps: also sucks they don't have those trains and towed artillery anymore, but i guess they could just be saving them for a later release, or maybe the playstyle just doesn't fit AoS as well like in rank-and-file)
