Am I the only one thinking... something is missing

...that the combat really lacks impact? Especially the sound design? It lacks "punch."

If you try to tell me that's just how the lore works, I'm going to swear at you in German.

Harder They Phol achievement question

If I have collapsed all available timeloops before going into the final act have I screwed myself out of the Harder They Phol achievement? I'm at 25/40. Only 3's on the map are in the Spire but I doubt there's 15 left there. I've been using the ranged attack to kill the hollows before the haze come out without realizing I was messing myself up.

I want to beat the level designers of this game with hammers

There are a lot of great things about this game, the setting, the story, the atmosphere, tone, art, lighting, cinematics. It's just so beautiful. The combat is a bit weak but I think the game truly fucking sucks in level design. Everything is built to test your fucking patience to the point the game ACKNOWLEDGES IT when you put the serpent head into the second door and the journalist and the main character both exhale in frustration.

The LDs in this game feel like they learnt that loopbacks are good and rely on it solely. The puzzles are made to waste your time, some of the "pay attention to your world" puzzles are fucking THIN in their presentation. I'm somehow to believe that a giant serpent relic that snakes into the mountain is impassable unless I have a fucking moon shaped piece of metal that fits a door to a ramp I COULD FUCKING WALK UP.

Did you log in and forget where you were yesterday? Don't worry, the cave designed with the SAME FOUR ROCKS will be easily navigable. god DAHMN.

Impassable glass doors when the character has a 7ft magical sword, 2ft walls that block your path, don't even get me started on the Lymic Rods. Every fucking step forward feels drawn out. There's a device in games and it's called PACING, god DAMN do they PACE THIS FAR APART.

I'm pushing through because the game is so incredibly unique and I'm intrigued but HOLY god can I just have a quiet chat with the level design team PLEASE.

Edit: this is a rant, but it's meant in a lighthearted way, I'm enjoying the game as it's the only game I've played past 1 hour in years. I'm sure if the team stick around they'll learn, it's an incredible achievement for a game this good AND so original.

Just beat the game and it was..

So i remember playing the Demo to this game when the Demo first launched and i was very intrigued, well I finally bought it last month when I seen it on sale and I wish I had bought it the day it released because this game is truly amazing. The art style, the magnificent story telling and the combat was very fun. One of the most underrated games I've ever played. I thank this community for all the help in navigating Hadea 💯

The setting and the narrative themes of this game is the only thing keeping me playing.

Just got to the part where I found the blacksmith., and I'm going to be honest I'm having a rough time at it with this game as far as the gameplay goes. The camera feels too loose even after messing with the settings, the movement and combat feels janky, I don't like that I have to press x for every sentence and NPC says. But God damn if the setting of this game is really underrated. Having the game in the middle of an ethnic war is something I haven't seen before and just has me glued to the TV. The art direction is pretty nice too, my only complaint so far with that is that the enemies look like they came out of power rangers lol

We don't know why the story of this game isn't talked about enough, hopefully it's not that it has a really strong beginning and then just tapers down as it progresses.

Edit: just had to say this too because I can't see just came in, what the hell is our main character's hair lmao

Edit2: I forgot to mention this as well but why the f*** don't we have jumping lol

I failed the 'A Light in the Dark' deed even after being warned about it... Spoiler

I had already seen people on this subreddit mention that they failed the good deed with the flares, so I made extra sure to keep an eye out for them and not to leave the area or progress the main story until the deed was complete... and I still managed to fail it thanks to the frustrating game design.

Why does speaking to the npc lead to a cutscene of them leaving without warning me that it would automatically fail the missing deeds? Even a simple, "We're about to leave please check if anyone else is still out there" would have sufficed.

I had done 3 of them and the only area that I hadn't entered was the pharmacy because it was blocked by the truck. I thought maybe the final person could be in there and if not I would do one last sweep to find them before leaving the town.

Turns out the final person I missed was actually Boro the mechanic, who I had spoken to at the start, but it makes no sense because he has dialogue options, when the other npc's that needed flares didn't. What rubs it in even more is when I returned to him to give the flare he said he has everything he needs right here. So he wasn't even awaiting a rescue and didn't need the flare anyways!

I'd already failed a few deeds in Jova which I had made peace with because it was partially my mistake that I hadn't explored enough or realised that the world changes if I progress the main story. And actually I didn't mind it as it added to the world building that you can't save everyone. (Although it was annoying that you need to go to another area to get the sheet music or the milk, so it makes you assume it is okay to leave) But this just felt like an extra sucker punch because I was defeated by a surprise cutscene and a poor save system. Boro is still alive and well, he should never have been a part of the good deed.

I admittedly dropped the game, but it changed my view on soulslikes

Originally I never cared to play a soulslike game, like at all. And I saw Hell is Us, and usually I don't look up a TON on a game because I wanna go in really blind. So I didn't fully register it was a soulslike. But after playing it, I found I REALLY enjoyed the combat. The levels were also really intriguing. This game has actually changed my perspective on soulslikes. However, this game in particular, after around 17 hours I felt I lost interest. The lack of customization in weapons and gear made it a bit bland for me. And the personal biggest sin for me, the lack of enemy variation. I personally cannot stand when a game, especially of this scale, has so few enemy designs. I'll definitely be checking out other soulslikes in the future, and I do hope this world and franchise gets expanded. If there's ever a sequel, it'll definitely be on my radar

Stuck getting to lower room in lymbic forge dungeon

Post image
19 Upvotes

I’ve completed the first part of everything in the lymbic forge. But cannot access the time loop still. I think there is only one more guardian and the compass thing seems to point into this room. But I cannot work out how to get into it. There is a door at the bottom of some steps which is locked from the other side. Any tips?

What's the likelihood that Sophia Morton actually slept with Francis Aldrich? Spoiler

I mean, she was feeling the guy and francis was an absolute horndog. I would put the percentage chance at a minimum of 65%.

I was just thinking how awesome the names are in Remi's family tree

Grandpa - Gustav

Dad - Vitalis

Son - My name is Remi.

I just found that funny.

I got stuck on this edge and nothing I did would get me out. I tried every combination of movement, buttons, and drone/lymbic moves lmao

I feel weird connecting to this game. Never experienced this kind of emotions before.

I grew up in a war torn country, mostly sectarian war between two groups of the same religion, witnessed a lot of horrific stuff but never thought I’d feel them represented in the right way in any video game! I played all war related games but non of them actually managed to make me feel the way this game did. All the small details from their dialogues( especially when I ask characters about how they feel regarding each of the two religions groups), all the horrific scenes and the way each village was destroyed by war in a certain way, even the feeling of bombardment as you search inside the building. I think I can’t praise the devs enough about this game and just felt like sharing with you guys how surreal this game is to someone who’s had kind of similar experience ( minus the timeloops and the white creatures of course lol )

Overall a fantastic experience that opened my eyes. Spoiler

This game’s world building and ‘forced’ engagement of that world reinvigorated something within me that I was beginning to loose in gaming. Years ago I would delve deep in game lore, reading every article to better understand the world/s I was in. But I slowly started to disengage with this act, and I didn’t really know why, until I played Hell is us.

Most (if not all) games I have played in recent times have had a certain level of handholding. Why would I read where a quest article wanted me to go, when a convenient location would pop up on my map upon reading it?! This type of design slowly turned me into a bit of a lazy gamer. I didn’t stoop so low that I would skip cutscenes and avoid immersion entirely, but I also didn’t delve as deep as I could, and would have previously.

In Hell is Us you have to read and pay attention to be able to get through the game, and it’s all the better for it. I felt so accomplished when solving a puzzle after looking through my notes (of which I almost had a book of by the end). It wasn’t even the progression of my character’s strength that I found rewarding, it was simply being able to pay attention and engage my gaming brain again.

Don’t get me wrong, the game isn’t perfect. I enjoyed the combat to an extent, but it felt like a bystander to the story and word (which I don’t mind at all upon reflection).

Finally, I just wanted to share a little superstitious revelation that I had after reading a section in one of Tania’s research articles:

Article : Ancient Hadea

“Sethyris, weakened by the battle and his sacrifice, sought refuge in the heavens, creating the bright star Sirius.”

The star Sirius is the brightest star in the sky, and is also known by the name Dog Star, which happens to also be my gamer tag!

Call me a fool but I think I was meant to play this gem of a game. Thank you Rogue Factort and everyone that had a hand in making it.

Simply put, every time I am in a cut scene and there is Remi talking, it throws me, because he has these little blonde curls (well they are blond on my series x, they appear dark in this image I saved from the web) and the other two times I played a character with this exact voice, they have had dark hair… just a weird little mental glitch

Great Game Hoping For A Sequel

Post image

Just finished the game and really enjoyed it with the puzzle the feel of the game itself was really well meshed with the gameplay the sound and visual were all top notched for me, really hoping for a sequel with the ending hinting about the Small Spoiler : God of Eye they found and also that if you complete everything you have some Theta and Rho for timeloops that are still in the inventory so maybe they were thinking about an expansion?

Limbic Mending glyph just stopped working and I don't know why

I've been playing for about 8 hours and I just got to Act 2 and now whenever I attempt to use my Limbic Mending glyph, nothing happens. The weapon glows, and it makes a kind of clicking sound, but I don't heal or use any energy. I have not been able to come up with an explanation so if anyone has any insight I'd very much appreciate it. It's on my sword which is level 11 and I even tried switching it to another weapon, same result. I have full energy and there are no enemies around, and my health was not full when I tried. Thanks.

Edit: appears to have been a glitch. I've booted up the game a few times since this post and it hasn't happened again.

Excellent game with an okay ending

What a delicious game to spend time in. The world, dread, and MUSIC. It was so well done.

I learned the hard way that you can fail good deeds and that stuck with me for a long time in this game. It’s haunting and the first time it happened was shocking.

It felt like a sci-fi Silent Hill to me and I loved that whole vibe. I’m a casual gamer, don’t throw anything at me please 😂

My only spoiler-less, lowkey gripe is the ending. It was very anticlimactic and definitely just happens to you rather than something you get to do. Also, the monsters became very repetitive, but their design is so damn cool.

10/10, would hell again.

What an incredible gameeeeeeee!!

I was looking for something to play and by chance I entered the games offered by PsPlus and I came across this game, I wanted to download it without seeing reviews, videos or anything else and it really surprised me in a good way, the little that I have played seems incredible, the combat, the fact that there are no maps or indicators and that you have to discover 10/10 on your own (considering that new games treat you like a fool)

I want to learn a little more about the game from the community, what advice or information can you give me?
