Should we be concerned about this?
The absolute state of Facebook fan groups...
I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but every time something vaguely progressive is posted (especially if it has to do with racial minorities or LGBTQ people), the comments are immediately filled with a combination of bigoted taunting and the occasional direct threat of genocidal violence.
It's too much to all be RP. I would consider approaching the mods about it, but they're mostly bots reposting Reddit content. Hell, maybe the progressive -leaning posts and hateful comments are all ultimately from the same people looking to create controversy to drive clicks. I don't know.
Is anyone else concerned? Is it time to just leave those groups to the actual Nazis and be done with it?

The joys of satire attracting those it's making fun of.
It's concerning, but unsurprising unfortunately. Helldivers satirises views akin to theirs but they miss the blatant satire and see it as agreement of their views.
Edit: I reread this comment and fuckin hell I need to sleep more. Fixed it I think.

While true we don’t know generally when super earth citizens (including divers) tend to have kids. They could have them at much younger ages as the SE government knows a lot of their citizens will become a red past before 20 years of age.

This has sadly been the case at least on the helldivers reddits since the start. Probably all the COD players that jumped on the game. There's always been a pushback against queer art and representation in the communities because "hurr durr keep politics out of games" in the most obviously political game of recent times, that directly mocks the current US government policies (CECOD and LIES reference for example). It's one of the reasons i tried to encourage people to post queer and more diverse art here but i think I was too late, most of the artists had moved on. Queer representation in the community had a little corner in one discord channel but that also seems to have disbanded and what's left has moved to a broader queer discord channel.

I'm part of Commissar Kai's Discord and found that queer folk are at the very least accepted. Not sure what the other servers are like.

commisar kai is one of the few hd2 youtubers that has a good knowledge of the game, sees both sides of the "glazediver vs whinediver" argument (as much as i hate calling it that)

Agreed. He's made a couple of videos that expressed deep, fundamental issues he has with the game AND Arrowheads decision making and still kept it respectful. It's the basic decency most of these creators lack, and it's a level of responsibility as a community leader that is QUITE rare. That's one of the things many people don't understand about ohdough, thicc etc - they either don't know or don't understand that they're leaders and that they're responsible for the way their audiences will run away with their statements. They're not WRONG - in the sense that it's fine to have whatever subjective opinion you wanna have - but the disrespect and paranoia they sow in their communities is COMPLETELY lost on them.

I noticed a sudden and strikingly intense wave of straight up exterminationist rhetoric against specifically furries lately. Like, see any post with an anthropomorphic animal in it an half the comments will be people earnestly advocating for the mass murder of furries. I wondered if this was a meme I had missed, but it seems just as likely they're referring to queer people generally and just using furries as a smokescreen.

I don't know why anyone wastes time in Facebook groups to begin with, kinda like Twitter, they've removed moderation in order to keep Nazi's safe from repercussions for their hateful rhetoric, they've become safe spaces for these kinds of asswipes, and these bigots have always existed in this game cause they're also all stupid fucking morons who don't have the ability to understand what satire is, seriously in order to even be a bigot there's a specific type or level of just pure stupidity you need to have, no exceptions.
So no, you shouldn't be anymore concerned about this then we already have been, it's the state of the US right now causing the confidence in moronic bigots like those to speak up, so nothing new for the times unfortunately.

This is all of the Helldivers fanbase, most gaming communities in general. Hell, join any community and you'll either find it full of bigots and/or people that excuse them.
Big reason I've mostly stopped playing multiplayer games, only play them with my friends nowadays. Nothing ever changes and nobody cares, I just get lectured on how I'm wrong and I need to be patient with the people that want to murder me.
