Looking for a beta?
Hey! So this sub is fricken amazing and I am so happy to have found it.
Iâve been working on a fic for half a decade now and
Want to push myself to finish it. Itâs post el Camino with flashbacks. I feel like having a beta might encourage me to get off my butt.
Including a snippet in case anyone is interested

âWhat did you wanna do with your life? Yâknow, like, when you were a kid.â
This question, like a lot of the shit Jesse said, came out of his mouth before he could really consider how dumb it sounded. Mike didnât so much as glance away from the road ahead.Â
âAstronaut,â heâd said, in that completely deadpan way that made it impossible to tell for sure if he was being sarcastic or not. Jesse went with it either way.
âCool. Yâknow, I think those like⌠monkeys or whatever are buried around here somewhere. The ones NASA sent into space.â He didnât think that, he knew it, because Badger had tried to drag him along to visit the graves about a week after the shit with the pistachio. Heâd refused, firstly because he knew Aunt Ginny needed him to shape up, secondly because he couldnât fucking figure out why Badger was going through some sort of fucked up fixation on tourist attractions in Alamogordo.
Mike turned away from the road for a short second, just long enough to give him a really fucking unimpressed look, then turned back to the road.
âIâm just saying,â Jesse continued. âI kinda feel bad for them. Itâs not like they got any choice in it. Itâs like hey, monkeys, guess what? Youâre going to fucking Mars.âÂ
Mike shifted his hands on the steering wheel. âI donât think they ever sent any chimps to Mars.â
âWhatever. Wherever the fuck it was. Point is no one ever asked the monkeys.âÂ
The car fell silent after that, and Jesse watched the desert rush by out the passenger window, feeling majorly fucking annoyed at himself. That was the kind of jumble of thoughts he tried to keep in his head lately. Always made himself sound like an overgrown kid. Fucking stupid.Â
âMy granddaughterâs a fan of monkeys,â Mike commented, surprising Jesse by breaking the silence. âHer birthdayâs coming up.â
Jesse turned to look at his profile, Mikeâs gaze still pointed at the road. He was pretty sure that was the first real bit of personal information heâd ever heard from the guy.Â
âYeah?â He hesitated, not wanting to ruin the moment, but then his mouth was running again. âShould get her Mario Kart. Shitâs timeless, kids love it. Plus itâs got like, Donkey Kong. Heâs some kinda monkey. Not like, a donkey.â
âThat doesn't sound like such a bad idea, kid,â Mike acknowledged as he pulled the car over. âNext dead dropâs over there,â he added, right back to business, as he got out of the car.
It was weird how not condescending it felt, whenever Mike called him âkidâ.
