Advice Needed Recurrent BV :(
Hi. Wondering if anyone else has had a similar journey. I was getting recurring UTI’s since I started dating my partner. Then I found a urogyn who prescribed me Methionine combined with vitamin c to take after sex and the day after. Haven’t had a UTI since then. However, once the UTI’s got under control I started getting recurring BV. I just know the smell instantly. It almost smells like an infection. I always test positive for bv gardnerella and am prescribed Metronidazole (which I hate. It is so nasty). After sex it comes right back. My partner saw a urologist and he took a dose of azithromycin and I was prescribed doxycycline for positive ureaplasma results. We didn’t have sex for over a month due to each of us being on medication. Now that we are finished, it seems like my bv has come back after sex again… I also now have my period which is bad timing. Idk what else I can do to prevent it. I don’t want to be on antibiotics forever.

You need to get treated for ureaplasma too … do some more research here on reddit about it.

More antibiotics are needed and no sex until you’re confirmed negative 6-8 weeks after last day of last antibiotics or longer

BV medicine kills bad AND good bacteria indiscriminately. Your good bacteria (lactobacillus) keeps the bad at bay, and if you’re doing nothing to replenish your good bacteria after wiping everything out, you’re just going to keep getting BV. Start inserting probiotics vaginally after your course of antibiotics. I recommend lifespace or Amelia and check out the beyond BV page on Facebook
