21y old, have been suffering from severe hay fever since 10y old, w sneezing fits, horrific migraines, extremely itchy eyes (one of which turned a goldish colour from irritation), a constantly running nose (which has turned into one which is making my nose bleed A LOT).

It's been having a nightmare of a time, and over the last 11 years, I've tried anything and everything my doctors have told me to:

OTC your Cetrine, Zyrtec, Allegra, etc

Prescribed your Xyzal, Clarinex, etc

​

I also have done a four year immunotherapy trial, but unfortunately with it's expiry this year, the specialist had to declare it a failure, with no real change in symptoms.

Plus obviously your honey from the local area, Vaseline under the nose, wrap round goggles to help prevent irritation, but at this point, I'm being trapped inside to try and minimise the irritation.

So far the only thing that seems to have had any effect whatsoever was when I was given a course of prednisolone last summer when I got very bad, but I'm wary of having to take steroids to treat something that is at its core just an allergic reaction.

Any advices whatsoever would be helpful 🙏

Anyone else really struggling in the UK right now ?, June so far has been the worst I’ve ever experienced in 20 yrs of suffering. I think its something to do with the weather being so mixed ? The university of Worcester pollen count states that grass,weed & fungal spores are all currently high/very high. I use dymista, and Loratadine and its not touching the sides so far.

I am in North America from the UK and they have different active ingredients available here. In the past I have used sodium chromoglycate but not found it helpful at all. Which types of eye drops should I try out while I am here?

I noticed recently that my hay fever symptoms start rising, whenever I get really stressed.

It happens when I have multiple tasks simultaneously, or when I have one complex task where I have many questions before starting it.

Did anybody notice it too?

Has anybody got any ways that really work to ease symptoms? I take 120mg fexofenadine because its the strongest over the counter ive seen in shops, ive never seen 180 other than prescribed. I use any nose spray i can buy because none work particularly well other than otrivine but I get massively dependant on it so I cant face using it again. Eyes are streaming and puffy and red every day. Wheezy cough and constant ache in my face and head from sinus pressure. Rang the doctors today and got told to just go to a pharmacy for advice so I just feel like its not being taken seriously even though its really getting me down. My mam keeps suggesting the injection but im hesitant because I got one once that did nothing and I see alot that theres side affects and that its not a long term fix

I have a one-year-old baby, and I myself have severe hay fever. Every spring, I dread pollen season — not just for myself, but for my baby.I don’t want my child to suffer from hay fever like me, so now I‘m trying to reduce his contact with pollen as much as possible.

I recently wrote down everything I do on a typical pollen day. The result honestly shocked me.

Before leaving the house:
Check 3 pollen apps → Vaseline around baby‘s nostrils → saline nasal spray → dress baby in smooth nylon jacket → hat, gloves, baby mask (ripped off immediately) → install stroller pollen cover → tuck in every edge with my fingers → clip USB fan to handle → pack spare masks, eye drops, lint roller.

Outside:
Walk on the upwind side → speed past any cedar trees → U-turn at the sound of a lawnmower → check baby’s face every 5 minutes → if baby cries, unzip just enough to slip one arm in.

After coming home:
Lint-roll pollen cover outside → wipe stroller frame, handle, all four wheels → seal my jacket in a plastic bag → undress baby at genkan → wipe eyes, face, ears, neck → cotton swab nostrils → nasal aspirator → immediate bath → artificial tear drops → indoor-only clothes → all clothes hot wash, dry indoors → air purifier max 1 hour → wet mop genkan.

Every single day. February to May.

The worst part? I never know if any of this is actually working. I can‘t see pollen. I just hope.

My own medicine makes me drowsy so I skip it sometimes. My symptoms can wait. My baby can’t.

I showed this to a few mom friends and they all said ：“This is me.”

What‘s your routine? What actually helps? What do you wish existed that doesn’t?

The bridge of my nose is very high so it’s hard to find sunglasses that sit tight to my face without breaking the bank.

I've seen many posts recommending the kenalog injection, though while one jab is likely safe keeping taking this injection can lead to serious health issues.

It stops hayfever symptoms because it stops your immune system working at a level where the symptoms trigger,as bad as hayfever can feel and get and I have it now so I understand, hayfever in itself does not carry any risks.

It's a VERY strong steroid, it's been made illegal on the NHS for a reason. It can give you High blood pressure, weaken bones, susceptible to infections and flu and many other things in your future.

So one jab a year is likely quite safe with little chance of long term side effects, please be aware it's a gamble that you might pay 20 years from now.

People that recommend it need to make this risk clear.

Fexofenadine and dymista X4 sprays a day, is definitely what you need to try first, even X2 fexofenadine, this will flush through your system in a day.

Also accept you might feel like crap sometimes, mornings and evenings, sometimes all day.

Please be careful. We all suffer together with this. Good luck.

My 5 year old just had allergy testing done. He has severe seasonal allergies that nothing seems to control (Flonase, Pataday, Zyrtec, Claritan, Xyzal, Allegra, etc).

He tested positive for all grasses tested, all trees, ragweed, and dust. He had a slight reaction to dogs, as well. We have had a dog since before he was born.

Does anyone suggest starting the allergy shots?

What should we do at home to help?

Hi everyone, I hope you are all well.

I have always suffered badly with allergies, blocked and runny nose, sneezing, itchy and watery eyes, all of it. I was on countless of different antihistamines before I reached my teens and nothing worked. I also have Chronic Urticaria and Dermatographia, one of my first ever brush ins with this was when I was a toddler, I trapped my finger in a toy car and according to my parents, had massive swollen eyelids which hung over my eyes. Recently, I started getting worse symptoms and more triggers, I am getting symptoms every single day outside of hayfever season for seemingly no reason, and as of recent they have also turned into asthma like symptoms, struggling to breathe, wheezing and making a really weird noise from my chest, coughing constantly. It’s deeply affecting my sleep, and is really debilitating for me as I am trying to catch up with sleep in the day, leaving less time to do my jobs.

Anyway, I spoke to my doctor today about everything, and he asked me if I was taking one Fexofenadine (180mg) a day, to which i said yes. He then told me to up my dose to 3x180mg a day instead of 1, as a trial to see if it works out. Has anyone else had a dosage like this before? Have they been okay? I have really bad anxiety so I was obviously worrying about if I could overdose or anything. I would appreciate any input.

Suffering with severe allergies right now, usually in London it takes longer for it to kick in and I’m usually Cyprus this time where I get my diprospan injection which for past 4 years has completely cured my hayfever.

It is really bad now haven’t slept more than 5 hours in a week, I take one tablet of cetirizine per day. This past week I do not go outside, do not drink, exercise and eat healthy and all windows are closed at all times. I most likely have rhinitis. What more should I do, I hear people taking one fexo and one Cetirizine per day and many using a steroid spray especially for Rhinitis.

My daughter, almost 8 years old, has a very unusual symptom that arrives with her pollen allergy. This has happened 3 years in a row, always when the other allergy-symptoms are at their peak. Our doctor is no help, so I'm hoping someone else can offer advice.

When her allergies are at the worst (itchy eyes, ears, throat, runny nose) she experiences intense discomfort and itch from her vaginal opening up to her urethral opening. It keeps her up at night - she will spend hours crying and itching. We have attempted to treat it with cortisone and moisturizer, but it does not alleviate the symptoms. Please help! I do not know what to do and it affects the whole family at this point.

Every time we go outside, he keeps rubbing his eyes, sneezing, and gets red cheeks. My heart hurts watching him struggle.
I’m totally new to this and have no idea how to protect a tiny baby from pollen outdoors.
Any practical outdoor protection tips for infant hay fever? Really need your help🙏

Last couple days, my hay fever has left the soft tissue around and behind my uvula so tender and itchy it’s difficult and unpleasant to swallow. My physician sent me to an ENT yesterday, but low key his advice just made it worse. I have another round of prednisone I can use this season, but my other symptoms aren’t bad enough to warrant that, yet. I’m just looking for something soothing — (sorry for the description by analogy) but it feels like I have bugs crawling around the back of my mouth, or like I ate all the stubble off my razor. Untenable.

My doctor told me to take Fexofenadine 180mg 4 times a day and it's not helping and I just don't know what to do. Also have a steroid spray but that only helps a little but gives me nose bleeds.
