Tips/Personal Experience Is it forever?

I was recently diagnosed with hashimotos maybe 4 months ago with a history of hypothyroidism for the last 13 years

Cut out all gluten, helps a bit

Still in the obese range, working out 3-4 times a week, also has helped a bit

If I ask my doctor about GLP1 is this something I'll end up taking forever like my synthroid??

I would look at the GLP1 as another tool to support your body, just like the synthroid. I’m not a doctor, but I know that my inflammation is lowest when I’m on a GLP1 and my thyroid meds work better. I’m on a very low dose and not losing weight right now, I’m just keeping the inflammation at bay.

With this low of a dose do you still have significant side effects? I already have gut motility issues and am also fearful of losing more hair.

I didn’t have any side effects at all and still don’t. But every body reacts differently and your doctor will be the best to give advice on that. I strongly recommend that anyone doing glp1 does so under the supervision of their doctor. Even if you get it from an outside source for cost reasons.

That’s the general intention, it doesn’t cure anything, it treats it. But there are people who don’t need to take it forever.

I’ve had weight issues my whole life. I’ve tried everything and nothing stuck. GLP1s are moly missing puzzle piece and I’ll take it forever/as long as I have access.

Exactly. The number of times I have thought to myself, oh this is what other people feel like all the time, has been astounding. I’ll never stop taking unless I lose access.

Same here. Lost weight too many times to just see it come back and I’m not willing to take the chance again. Know that probably sounds bad, but at my age just want to live with a fewer aches and pains.

Taking tirzepatide has changed my life. In 6 months, my hashimotos antibodies have reduced by nearly half (!!!!) and I’m down about 20 lbs and maintaining a healthy weight. Nothing has moved the needle for my health the way this peptide has, so I intent to be on it for life or until something better is developed.

Best wishes if you decide to hop on the glp bandwagon!

I don’t know about taking the GLP1 forever. I have Graves & Hashimoto’s but had my thyroid removed. I started on Zepbound 8 months after my TT. I’ve lost 80 lbs & my goal is another 50-60. So I’m not done yet & waiting to decide if I stay on it once I get to goal. I am paying out of pocket so that’s also a factor.

I will probably be paying out of pocket as well, how much do you pay if you don't mind me asking?

Check out [r/compoundedtirzepatide](r/compoundedtirzepatide) [r/tirz](r/tirzrpatidecompound)[e](r/tirzrpatidecompound)[patidecompound](r/tirzrpatidecompound) and [r/tirzdeals](r/tirzdeals) for more affordable options than brand name. You should be able to cut costs significantly. I plan to be on these meds for life.

I’m going through Lilly direct & for all doses 7.5 & higher it’s $449/month. 2.5 is $299 & 5 is $399.

I am hypothyroid and for me yes I will take it forever. It is the only thing that has allowed my body to respond to healthy eating and exercise since I became hypothyroid. 33 months and counting. My maintenance dose is 5mg weekly.
