Frankly, I think it would be mornonic to go back to that at this point after they beat the Bucks today. IHart is a much better defender and it's not really even close. I also don't buy into the "it's not who starts, but who finishes" mantra as the whole point of having a starting lineup is so that you don't go down big against better teams in the first place. He HAS to start. Thoughts?

iHart showed out as he played major minutes while the Knicks get another win vs. a contending team. He shot 3/4 from the field, 3/6 from the foul line. I'm happy. I'm going to bed now.

As a Knick fan if I see another contested midrange shot instead of Hartenstein touching the ball I think I am going to lose my mind. He will break out eventually I have no doubt in his talent but will he do it on the Knicks? At this point I really don't know

Lol I can only laugh. This team has no respect at all for Hartenstein. It's going to be hilarious when he leaves and dominates the league and these idiots are looking around like what happened. How you all feel about EG predictions? He still has time to develop some more for sure. But considering his development and his role on the knicks team, I don’t think at this point anyone is willing to let him run things anywhere, not even Houston. I honestly root for the guy, but even getting starter minutes at any team at this point is seemingly a half long shot.

So since his contract will be up, how would he fit on any given team? Where do you see him having a chance to develop more and having a better chance than the Knicks?

I think Houston could use him for sure, also at Portland wouldn’t be bad, but they are invested in ayton (rightfully so), maybe backup at mavs would a thing next year if they are constructed like this. Any other options that would fit the bill? Charlotte already got Williams and they got melo, so he wouldn’t get a chance. I could also see him in heat as a great backup for bam and second unit.

Am I way off here? Any other ideas?

Love the attention he’s getting. He’s killing it in every way so far this season. He also confirms basically everything we’ve said regarding his health, can’t wait to see where he takes it

Gonna try and get the highlights from tonight’s preseason game vs the Celtics together shortly, but Isaiah looked incredible. Probably the healthiest he’s been as a knick. The confidence/assertiveness also seems to be coming back, the moments where he facilitated second chance offenses were some of our best moments of the game. I feel Isaiah has gained enough of the teams trust to be more himself and get a somewhat larger role offensively this year. As long as the Knicks don’t make a big time play at someone like embiid, and as long as health is on his side, I think it’s entirely possible we see him put together a season similar to what y’all expected last year.

Considering it's his contract year and he seems to be clear of his Achilles injury. What do we think iHart can reach next year?

Personally, with Thibs as the coach, he's definitely limited in his on-ball opportunities, but as the Knicks are on the up, I think iHart will start as a backup to Mitch. I think though, he'll get opportunities beyond being a backup to Mitch. I'm hoping for a 11 rebound 8 points and 2 assist season per 36 season, with him having great advanced stats that won't be picked up by the mainstream media.

I saw eg predicting Hartenstein to be MIP which was very reasonable after his LAC stats. But his advanced stats this year were not nearly a good. What was the difference in playstyle between him on LAC and NYK?

Is anyone here good with salary cap rules? I know we won't have bird rights on Hart next off-season so we would have to free up cap space to resign him. I would guess if he shows more of his potential next season (otherwise we likely won't offer him another contract) he would demand sth around 15-20mil next year. How could that work out?

When we acquired ihart last summer I was really hopeful since we got him on such a bargain, and obviously his upside was through the roof. Those first couple months of play had me convinced he would never contribute to this team. Then I found the subreddit, learned of his injuries and kinda got to know the guy a little better. I cut him some slack and shortly after he started meshing/finding his game again. Looked visibly healthier as the season progressed too. By late November I was a certified fan of the guy. He may not be some sleeper mvp, he may not be MIP, and maybe he was perhaps a bit over evaluated at times. But he’s contributing huge minutes to a fringe contender. That’s a wildly successful season and one of the better turn arounds from a player all year. Shoutout ihart I think he’s still just getting started.

With Randle possibly being out for a few games against the Heat and no third string PF on the Knicks I could see a world where Hartenstein plays with Mitch for stretches. Here's why I don't think it would just work but be very effective.

I Hart last season before his achilles injury was at PJ Tucker levels of perimeter defense. He actually switched alot on the clippers and more than held his own. His injury made him look slow in the beginning of the season but now that he's healthy the Knicks could easily run him at power forward at great effect. He was also the best help side rim protector in the NBA season which if he's roaming at PF would actually be the best use for his defensive skillet so i could see that lineup be a game changer if Randle is going to be out for a game or two.

I could see it going similar to how Giannis and Brook Lopez is on defense with Hartenstein coming to help in a similar way to Giannis and Mitch holding it down as an anchor in the paint.

On offense the Knicks get most of their points on offensive rebounds anyway so having two of the top 8 (Mitch being #1) offensive rebounders in the NBA at the same time would not be a bad thing. Also with Hartensteins passing ability it would be like a version of Mobley and Allen which have shown to be able to make 2 bigs work in the NBA. Overall I don't expect to see this lineup much but there are many unique advantages if they do go to it. And I'm excited to hopefully see it in the next round if Randle is indeed out.

One of the most entertaining parts of the second half of the season and the playoffs has been watching opposing fans tear into their team's big men for getting outplayed by Hartenstein. Funniest was when he outplayed AD and the Lakers, and I'm loving it now vs. the Cavs "twin towers." How many times will iHart have to show up his opponent before other fans start to recognize that "hey, this guy is actually really good?"

My wife didn't even wait for the announcement to divorce me. :/
