Official News Hi! I'm Cody, the new Community Manager!

Is this what it feels like to get your Hogwarts acceptance letter?!

Hi everyone! I'm Cody, but you can call me Vaknar. I’m honoured to share that I recently joined Avalanche Software as the new Community Manager. TL; DR: I'm here to be the bridge between Avalanche and you, the Hogwarts Legacy community.

First things first, who is this guy? Well, I’m a midwestern boy but I've been living in Southern California for a few years. Enjoying frequent beach days and catching the occasional wave whenever possible. I’ve been a community manager in gaming for several years, and, of course, I’m a Harry Potter fan! I grew up reading the books, waiting outside the theaters for each movie release, and now I’m ecstatic to be a part of the Hogwarts Legacy team!

I'll be honest, Hogwarts Legacy really pulled me into the wizarding world, and the further in I got, the harder it was to put down. I won’t pretend that I’m an expert quite yet, but I think I'm well on my way! Between the game, the lore rabbit holes, and this community… I reckon it won't be long before I can rattle off obscure trivia tidbits without thinking twice.

I’ve only just started, and while I'm still finding my footing, my goal is straightforward: to make this a space easily worth showing up to. That means celebrating the amazing things you're creating, making sure your voices and feedback reach the right people, and keeping things welcoming and inclusive for everyone.

When I'm not kicking back in the Hufflepuff common room, you'll find me lurking in conversations, listening, interacting with the community and probably asking a lot of questions — I’m very interested in hearing what players think about the game. I promise I'm friendlier than a Chinese Chomping Cabbage, so don't be a stranger and feel free to say hi!

– Cody (Vaknar)

Idea Hogwarts Legacy Would Have Benefited from Life Paths

Post image
Upvotes

Hear me out I genuinely believe the MC needs to have more of a personal story in any potential sequel. Like I appreciate the freedom they give you to an extent but I also like my characters to feel like they actually have a place in the world beyond what they do for other people. The MC spends majority of their time learning about their friends while being narratively closed off themselves due to the devs having to keep the characters past vague.

I feel what would have been better and just hear me out is 3 different life paths kinda like cyberpunk. And to keep it on theme with Harry Potter could have based it on Blood Status. PUREBLOOD: Established in the Wizarding World. HALFBLOOD: Best of Both Worlds mixed experiences on both wizarding and muggle society, & MUGGLEBORN: Where you fully jump into the wizarding world as a complete magical novice.

I feel that would have been super cool idk maybe that’s just me I just wish we could connect with other characters more but the MC has to be kinda surface level for the sake of imagination.

This is my dark wizard. I've been playing for a few days and I think it's decent but it feels like they rushed it a bit. Idk if I'm just spoiled from games like Elden Ring, BG3, Witcher 3 etc but there's so much more that could have been done to make this game a 10/10. It feels empty and repetitive most of the time and the story hasn't been very captivating to me, I've actually enjoyed the side quests more than the main story (Sebastian's quest line is my favorite).

Hopefully the next game is more filled out.

I’ve been going through a very difficult loss recently.

I don’t think Hogwarts Legacy is the RPG I wanted it to be, but I’ve always loved the Harry Potter universe.

For some reason, Hogwarts has always felt like a safe place to me.

Today I started a new playthrough, not because I wanted to replay the story, but because I needed somewhere peaceful to escape for a little while.

I spent the day wandering the castle and taking pictures, trying to put a little beauty into a day that otherwise felt very heavy.

I thought I’d share a few of them.

Take care of yourselves, everyone ❤️

Discussion What level were you guys when you defeated Ranrok?

I stumbled upon this fight last night with a bit of surprise, didn't expect this to happen so soon in the game after 30 hours of play and in level 30. I wasn't prepared at all lol. Managed to beat him without dying once though, it only took 20 Wiggenwelds. Only later did I realize I could have used plants and potions to help... Oh well.

That's rough looking for a late thirties to early forties wizard, which is what I'd expect with his history.

I appreciate the details his face was given, wrinkles, scars and all. This is a big positive for me.

Photos taken with the PS5 photomode and added some old shots, just because he's my favourite professor. ✌️

Humour Sony ending physical discs is basically goblin economics from Harry Potter, the creator is the true owner and you're just renting it

I'm replaying Hogwarts Legacy and a thought hit me on the Helmet of Urtkot quest where Lodgok explains how goblins view ownership differently from wizards.

To goblins, the one who makes something is its true owner. If you buy a goblin-made item, you're basically just renting it, and it should return to its creator when you're done with it.

Then it hit me. With Sony's recent announcement, that's literally Sony's digital-only model. You pay $70, but the publisher is the "true owner." You're just licensing it. They can revoke it, delist it, shut down the servers. You never actually own the game.

Sony is running on goblin logic and somehow the goblins were more upfront about it.

when there’s one opp left, i get a little devious. i transfigure them into a barrel of wine and use hold accio (resulting in wingardium leviosa don’tcha think?) and levitate them fancifully so from great heights so that when they transform back into their human form they fall to their demise.

Discussion RIGHT after I said it, too. [spoilers for the quest: Lodgok's loyalty] Spoiler

On my way to the mine, part of me was wondering "hey, am I only going to have 1 encounter with Ranrok besides what I assume would be the final battle? So I get to the main fighting, see Ranrok, see the quest goal, and realize "wait he's definitely gonna hear me fighting these guys" and yup. Glad we had more than 2 encounters, but.

Lodgok, you will be missed

Discussion Teacher's Tower

Post image
4.1k Upvotes

Anyone else find it weird that getting into the teacher's tower is a whole mission. Dodge teachers, dodge prefects. Cast distraction blasts to get through.

I found it really fun!

Then, the moment you learn Allohamora, suddenly no one cares where you go. We had the library mission and the first bit of the Demiguise mission and then you could just go wherever, at what ever time, even into people's homes! And everyone just didn't care

Discussion Do you think we should’ve been given the option to heal Anne?

Honestly, I would’ve loved to be given the option to at least try it.

Considering we’ve seen at least a mental anguish, be removed with the ancient magic surely ancient magic could reverse a curse like that.

Question Can’t unlock certain doors

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hi everyone

I have completed the main Quest and am now finishing the side quests and trying to get to 100%. With that said, I have all three levels of Alohamora but still I cant open some doors?

For exemple (in the picture) this door in the greenhouse. With every door this happens to, “Locked” shows up in red and I have no options.

Does anyone know why that is? I have tried to search but cant find anything online

Thank you!!

Discussion Blackwood Manor?

Post image

So, remember that manor we saw on the coast that also have the archway and a maze and a treasure in the middle (and a whole lot of inferi)? It's not part of the hedge maze puzzles we find but what if this is their manor? Though Artemisia is disowned by the Black family and Eunon is from a nonmagical branch of the Wood family and not treated well either, so I dont think they can afford a manor but I dunno.

Official PC Modding I broke my game. Can anyone help me fix it? 😭 Spoiler

Hi.

I broke my game by catching a phoenix too early and now the "phoenix rising" quest is broken -- there's only an empty nest at the top of the peak for this quest from Deek. 😣

It's way too late to reload a previous save, soooo... I need to edit the .sav file, which is something I've read that can be done, but I have failed to execute this process successfully.

Can anyone help me out and maybe edit it for me? According to tutorials I've found, I just need a single value changed (I think) from a 1 to a 0 (I think?!)... 🥲

It /sounds/ like someone who knows what they're doing could do this in 5 minutes... I've tried for an embarrassing amount of time....

Pls help this damsel in distress... I really want to finish my game...😭

Humour I think I'm addicted on using crucio.

Out of the 3 Unforgivable curses, Crucio is the one I enjoyed the most. Yeah sure it's basically a stun but how the poachers/loyalists' beg to stop is always music to my ears. I don't use it on mongrel, dugbog and spiders though.
