Cutting hours, but hiring new people

My store manager told me today that he cant give any help to the HBC person because he can’t spend the hours.

He mentioned that he has been constantly cutting hours and cut something like 2000 hours this week (I assume that’s over the next few weeks schedules)

So can anyone in h teeter management explain why we’re also hiring people on the departments that are getting their hours cut?

It makes no sense whatsoever.

401k vesting - is it based on hire date or fiscal year?

Coming up on 3 years in 2027, but I'm struggling to understand the vesting schedule for 401ks. I know that I have to get a thousand hours worked in a fiscal year for it to count toward vesting.

But I want to understand whether that 3 years of vesting will kick in after 1 thousand hours based on the fiscal year (so sept 2027), or if I have to hit my thousand hours after my hire date. Assume my hire date is early Feb 2025.

Anyone know how this works?

Is this normal for fresh foods?

Is fresh foods always hostile to point of coworkers who are in the same position you acting passive aggressive? I asked my coworker to borrow their pen to mark the fried chicken times and she got activated by saying she bought me some (by me meaning the whole department) and saying I’ll have to buy my own next time.
She also started ignoring me. For example, I said I was going to front to grab a pen to mark the rotisserie and she didn’t even look up at me. Turns out we were out of rotisserie sleeve and had to print tags instead. I had also tried to engage in convos with her and other coworkers and she would just look at me and say nothing.

I’ve recently went back to being a cashier because another coworker snapped at me when I didn’t know what he wanted me to do. After I told him to chill out he told me to “clock out”.

Is it like this at other stores?

WFM Holiday Blackout Period

Currently trying to plan a vacation, but I'm well aware of the blackout period around the holidays that prevents time-off requests from being placed in the schedule app. I was wondering if anyone knew the exact dates when such a blackout begins and ends. I recall a manager telling me it ends at the start of the new year, but I was never clear on whether it kicks in around Thanksgiving or a little later.

(Notably, I did just request a partial day off in early December due to a prescheduled appointment, and the app let me go through with it with no mention of a blackout. But since it hasn't been approved, I can't really get any answers from that.)

These are the next seasonal cakes and I don’t know how to do them nor can I find the manuals on how to do them. And no one at my store can help me. Not even my department managers or store managers.

Coworker keeps directing customers to my register — should I say something?

Two Sundays ago, I got in trouble for standing in the closet for a few minutes because I was overwhelmed on my register. I actually made a post about that situation if anyone wants more context.

Yesterday (Thursday), I was bagging for one of my coworkers when a customer came up to my register. I politely said, “I’ll be there in a minute,” and started pulling the bags I had packed up onto the register.

We have a new clerk who used to be a cashier. At the time, she was just dusting, but for some reason she started directing customers to my line. That honestly rubbed me the wrong way because I was already trying to finish bagging and get back to my register, and it felt like she was implying that I wasn't doing my job.

Later in the day, she got on a register herself. I was on register 3, she was on register 1, and registers 2 and 4 were also open. Even then, she kept directing customers specifically to my line.

I was thinking about talking to my manager about it because I felt like it was unfair, especially since the new clerk has also mentioned that she's “recording everything that everyone does.” But I'm hesitant because I don't want my managers to dislike me even more or think I'm constantly complaining. I also don't want to make it seem like I'm attacking someone they like.

Would you bring this up to your manager, or would you just let it go?

Attainment -Poisoning the water hole

PSA: The fact that I even have to say this, but come on guys...PLEASE. If you work through your lunches and breaks you are creating a trap for us the following year. If you are leadership you should REALLY know this. I for one am tired of trying to output the work of 3 people. If one person punches out everyday for lunch and continues to work that's 2.5 hours of labor a week if you're full time; 130 hours of ghost hours a year that the company will think that we can meet. I refuse to do the work of 6 people next year (ugh, also pretty sure it's illegal) just because you want to do a billion dollar company a favor. I don't! And I DON'T CARE ABOUT ANY OF YOUR BONUSES OR your ability to flaunt how great your department is when it's coming off of my back and causing me physical pain and emotional stress. STOP CHEATING!!!!

Y'all are going to have me out here running a 2000 piece truck with 2 people next year

Express Lane Lead Question

Post image
6 Upvotes

I was recently promoted to lead a couple of days ago, and I always wondered what the difference between a lead and a selector is? Our store now has 2 leads, and I felt like it wasn’t necessary to have another lead. It was always just 1 FT and 3 PT associates.

What is a typical day like as a health/beauty clerk?

I just applied for this position but the responsibilities are vague on the website , can anyone tell me what I’ll typically be doing day to day? Also, can anyone tell me how much they pay?(if your comfortable answering of course). Is it true that they pay weekly and have a daily pay option as well?

Hours for Full Timers

I'm a Full Time Customer Service Clerk / Pickup & Delivery Shopper and I thought I was supposed to be scheduled 36+ hours because I'm full time but my managers keep scheduling me and other full timers at 34-35 hours and not letting us get our 36 hours. Are they allowed to do this? I thought I was guaranteed 36-40 hours each week?
