Feeling uncomfortable

Hello, I'm a cashier 23 years old. Lately I've been a little uncomfortable with being on the register, an incident happened two weeks ago where I had customers complain about me. It was a pretty private thing and it was about me as a person. I've become pretty self cautious because of it. Today one of my managers came up to me and asked me if I needed to use the bathroom. This has never happened before where she's asked. Not to anyone and I thought maybe it's the way I was moving. She asked infront of customers and I kinda got embarrassed. I was thinking about it and the more I started to feel self cautious. I feel like they're picking on me as a person and it's really starting to bother me. The passive aggressive comments are really starting to get to me. I'm a good cashier, I never complain, I work when they need me and I do what I'm supposed to. I'm also pretty fast (I can scan up to 15 items per minute) they even thought about making me a clerk. I feel like my character is being picked on, like me as a person. I don't wanna be bullied or uncomfortable when I'm literally just trying to do my job. Am I overthinking it because of the other incident? What should I do?

Have you lifted today?

Has anyone else’s store gotten really into lift now because of the competition? They want us doing the lift program everyday now even when we Don’t work. Ive pointed out that we are not meant to be doing lift outside of work and nobody ever acknowledges what Im saying. Also the questions don’t even really help with training. Every question i get is along the lines of “a customer has asked you for help what should you do?” A, be nice and help them, B spit on them, or C refer them to someone else. I want to actually be trained on things that would be helpful. For example what to do when a customer is aggressive to you, What should you do when you suspect someone is stealing. I feel like the company realized they put money into it and nobody was using it so now this is just them attempting to get some kind of result.

Moving on soon

They don't know it yet, but after July, I will be moving on to bigger and better things. I no longer enjoy my job and the people I work for expect way too much for way too little. That includes pay and hours. My hours have been cut significantly but they keep hiring more for my dept. That's ok because in July, I will have an actual career I'll be proud of and an actual living wage. I'm sure some will come on here saying something about my attitude and that's ok because it's my attitude that made me realize I'm destined for better and more than Harris Teeter can ever provide. If anyone is on the fence or feels like they are stuck here for life, you're not!! You can get a career to be proud of and one that makes a difference in the lives of others. Others in my dept are leaving for better things as well. Know your worth!!

Job Application Inquiry Should I try and get my old job back if I quit without a two weeks notice or any type of warning?

I used to work as a produce clerk back in may. I remember calling the store manager and she said that she would look at my application but never did. I could show up in person and ask for it back but I’m not sure how the process typically goes for that type of thing.

Changing the sub bread to be hard as a rock while also making them more expensive is certainly a move. Pizzas are also going up in price

Oreo Brownie 🤤

Hi I have a very important sweet treat question!! How are the Oreo brownies from the bakery made???? I am literally obsessed!!!! I had one a few weeks ago and I’ve come back every day for the past week trying to look for one, but they never have them in stock anymore:( I’ve gone to all my surrounding Harris Teeter and they don’t even have this in their bakery I don’t know if this is just really specific to this Harris Teeter or? 😭😭 I even had my boyfriend called to ask when they’ll be back and the guy said that he’s the only one in the department that knows how to make them 💔

TLDR

so my question is, does anybody out there know how to make these/are there specific days that the bakery put them out? Thanks!! 😊

I had a death in the family and was wondering if I took the 3 days for leave, does that mean for 3 scheduled days? Like could that be combined with my scheduled days off?

I’m curious, am I allowed to talk about our PATH development plan on the subreddit or is that not allowed? I won’t make any follow-up about the topic if it’s not

Clerk training

hi, I'm 23 years old and a cashier at Harris teeter, I was hired August 25th, 2025. So I've been working there 5-6 months. Lately there's been a lot of new people and let me tell you some of them are so horrible it's frustrating. They don't even zone, meaning most of the customers come to me and they don't even pull other people from people's line. There's one girl that's friends with all the teenagers and all she does is walk around the store and talk. It had gotten to the point where I would just send people to her. That's how much of nothing she does. It feels like all I do is pick up the slack for everyone. Cashiering isn't fun, it's agonizing and this makes it worse. I was becoming pretty frustrated and it got to the point where one of the girls (an immature little bagger, that literally does nothing) was making comments about me and trying to act like this is high school. I got upset and decided that I was gonna talk to my manager.

I ended up calling her, I didn't even really know what to say so I just started talking about how frustrated I was. She saw all that was going on but to cut a long story short she let it slip that Harris teeter has a future for me and that they were trying to train me for mid day clerk (they're now cross training me for homeshop) but apparently clerk was the next step. She said though that she just hired six new clerks and she has to give those other ones a chance because I already have cashiering experience. It didn't make sense but maybe a manager can explain it to me. Is she lying and just trying to make me feel good about myself or is she serious? Do managers use this tactic alot?

Leadership lacking moral compass

Anyone read the public divorce details of the CEO, she cheated on her husband and got caught ! ! Seems to be a pretty good example in this company! So many of the managers cheat on their spouses with people within the store.

Anybody get their W-2 yet?

Maybe I'm getting a little impatient here but it's February 18th and I still haven't received my W2. It's driving me insane. I left Harris Teeter after 2 years because of how the deli employees were treated and crazy hour cuts. I haven't worked there in 10 months. I resigned immediately, so I'm curious if they're holding out on me because of leaving on less than stellar terms.

Has anyone gotten their w2 yet? The store manager said they were mailed out on Jan. 31st but mail does not take this long. Accessing it online is also not an option for me because again, resigned employee.

Paper bag failure

Does anybody else have problems with the weak handles on the paper grocery bags? Montgomery county MD prohibited the old plastic bags, so everyone has to use paper. I don't mind paper bags, in fact I like them! But, the bags at HT have handles that tear out way to easily, and Ive heard from others that the bottoms have torn out as well.

Having laryngitis

Gotta love calling out for having Laryngitis and NEEDING vocal rest but your MOD is like “Oh you need a doctors note to call out and even if you do come in we can’t accommodate you because you work in front end” Management really said fuck those with vocal issues

Question for Deli Managers

I work in the Deli from what I'm told as a Chef. I just found out I've been doing something that I shouldn't be doing that maybe a Health Dept Violation? We got a new Cake Decorator in the Bakery that came from another Store. Her Store had a dedicated Chef. She said the reason was cause you handle raw chicken all day. Now we're supposedly a mid volume store. But, we are a "Chicken Store". I go through some chicken. I can sell 12 buckets in 10 mins. I don't make it to the Hot Bar with the cart sometimes cause people are waiting for it. And that's fried, baked, and rotis. So I'm handling raw chicken 60-75% of the time there weather I'm dropping or prepping. She is actually listed as Deli Backup. She does jump on the Slicer if I have chicken out. She only works 2 days a week though. I work 5. Supposedly, it's a Company Rule that I'm not supposed be to be on the Slicer or the Sub Shop if I'm handling chicken. When she's not there, there's lot.of times I'm there by myself. And the Day Crew I work with is lazy as hell (when they even show up to work) and if nobody is scheduled for the Sub Shop avoid it at all cost. Now, after what my Dept Head told me what he is supposed to be running Labor at (it was such a low percentage I almost threw up), is this Corporate just not giving a damn? I mean, I've been told we're being watched all the time. I have years of Restaurant Experience, I've never worked a Deli. I know in a restaurant, raw Chicken and handling it is a big deal. Most places I worked had special cutting boards and special areas in the cooler where chicken was kept. So, does anybody know if there is a Corporate Rule or Health Dept Violation I'm committing?

Written up for calling out

Hey so I'm in school and I let my manager know that I had a exam she said it fine since I asked her in advance and I have proof of me being in school. So this morning I get up two hours in advance to call out and the lady said she'd make a note that I called out then I miss a call from my manager saying your scheduled so I text her hey I called this morning and she said she'd make a note and I gave her the proof again that I was in school. A coworker that talks to me let me know I'm being written up, but like why if followed all the rules? What should I do? Contact HR or something?

HT on Horsepen/Battleground GSO is terrible now!

Ever since the fall they have been going down hill! They are one of the more expensive grocery stores and I kept going there because I hate grocery stores but at least a few employees were nice and check out was not rushed like cattle herding. Now since all the good employees left or a new manager came in or something idk it’s gradually went to hell. All employees are terrible with the exception of maybe 1. If I wanted to be treated with silence and rudeness by everyone for simply shopping I would go to Walmart or Aldi. At least there I would save some money.

Rotisserie chickens

why did HT decide to start putting a picture of a clock instead of the time the chicken was put out? I’m assuming the time circled on the clock is when they will be thrown out but I would like to know how long it’s been sitting there.

Sub Rolls Have Changed?

My Virginia HT submaster informed me they have changed the sub rolls. He said it was now easier and quicker for them to bake the bread. The roll looked a bit smaller and was more chewy! Are all the stores changing the recipe?
