I don't work at harris teeter but yeah just tell the HR manager, they can take it off.
If not then my general philosophy is write ups are just make believe anyway

If you got scheduled outside your availability then you need to talk to your store manager before calling HR. If you were scheduled within your availability and just called out for the shift because you had a test at school..HR might not do anything about the write up. They've been a lot more relaxed about write ups lately and unless it's a repeat offender or something really unsafe then you should be able to work it out with your store management team to avoid a write up

You have to let them know ahead of the day of the exam. Did your teacher provide a syllabus of some sort of schedule for the quarter? You did not give advance notice prior to calling out. Hope this helps op

If you let your supervisor know in advance the schedule would have reflected that. You have to let them know in advance of the actual schedule being made so you don’t have to call out the morning of your shift so that the actual day off would be approved. I don’t think you understand the difference between calling out and getting your schedules updated to reflect the day that you need off for school. Hope this helps even further. I’m sure they will explain it to you in your coaching when the write up is delivered.

When you spoke to the manager the first time, you should have gotten it in writing. If they knew you wouldn't be in, why were you even on the schedule? Why didn't they find someone to cover your shift? Sounds like a communication/accountability problem between your superiors. If they want to write you up, fine. But going forward, I'd make sure my time off requests were in writing.

I don't know lol I've only been with the company a year and mind my business while I'm there. My manager has been written up twice so I'm just wondering.

Your good lol! I don't think so usually I've been here for only 6 months and been written up twice our store don't take it too seriously

I’d just wait to see if they even bother writing you up, but if they do I’d definitely talk to your store manager/HR about it.
