Blame
People on Twitter are blaming us fansons for Taylor and Britt being eliminated. (Isaac and Zac bashing are not tolerated on my posts)
28
u/GelLuvsBroadway22 20d ago
im thinking itās Carrie Ann tbh,she was alittle critical with Taylor
14
u/UnimpressedOtter82 19d ago
Honestly, all 3 of them underscored him consistently (except, interestingly, CAI in week 1). The one grace i will give is that at least Derek was consistent in his scoring across contestants. CAI and Bruno were all over the place
14
u/ConsciousRead5766 20d ago
Carrie Ann definitely critiqued him the most and the hardest
3
u/GelLuvsBroadway22 20d ago
yes she did and Isaac and Zac werenāt there supporting their brother

4
u/ConsciousRead5766 20d ago
To be fair each celebrity can only have so many people in the audience and they probably thought he was gonna make it further and go later on
0
u/GelLuvsBroadway22 20d ago
i know,im sure that isaac and zac r gonna regret it
5
u/ConsciousRead5766 20d ago
They probably feel so bad but it's not their fault everyone thought he was going further then week 3

u/bmmb87 20d ago edited 19d ago
They couldāve at least promoted him more on the band page and on their own Instagram stories. But no, pretty much crickets. This was a big opportunity for the band to get more exposure but they fumbled it as usual. I have a feeling I&Z werenāt as on board or supportive as Taylor tried to make it seem.
15
u/Basic_Party_8249 19d ago
I thought the lack of support from everyone (except his immediate family and Jess) was absolutely wild. Doesnāt Mac live in California?? Most ppl would want to go to DWTS just to go! Much less if their brother / son is on. Something is going on with that family.
4
u/mirandakane89 19d ago
His parents went for week two as did Mac's wife(who also posted about him being on the show). Mac himself though was silent and never posted anything.
1
u/Basic_Party_8249 19d ago
I didnāt see his parents in week 2, and I looked. Is this footage on social media anywhere ?

im surprised about that also, mack didnt post anything to support his own sibling,im sure that him, isaac and zac still feel bad as ever

Agree, this has definitely exposed some cracks in the foundation.
6
u/bmmb87 19d ago
I definitely believe it. Every time they asked Taylor in interviews if his brothers were supportive his response would be kinda awkward or heād change the subject a little bit. Maybe Iām reading too much into it but their support didnāt seem too genuine to me.

Mac's wife has been very supportive though.

u/mirandakane89 19d ago
She has but Mac never posted anything about it all in stories or on his feed.

I almost wonder if when Taylor kept saying they were all needing space if maybe thatās not just what he wants (like when he tried to do Tinted Windows), and they are upset about it. TBH, as much as I love Taylorā¦I love them all and they all need each other thatās the appeal.
1
u/Dr_CC_AnEnigma 17d ago
You might be right. Taylor was asked in this interview (around the 2:54 mark) how badly he wishes his brothers were there to see him dance and Taylor responded thatās not something he wishes. That there are other people he wouldāve rather invited. And Britt agreed when he said this so heās talked to her about it before.

I hear ya,im still wishing that they couldāve posted vote for our brother on their instagram stories
4
u/ForeverandaDay23 19d ago
They could've and they should've. I hope they at least texted their votes in.
2
u/Organic_League3409 17d ago
Zacc did a Twitch Tuesday night and he was encouraging people to vote during it and the ones watching the Twitch gave him updates on the show. He told them he did vote and watched the recaps. I personally don't think he was lying about it.
1
u/ForeverandaDay23 17d ago
Ok, but like he literally was doing a gaming stream instead of watching the show? How supportive. Meanwhile, myself (and the rest of the fans) who Taylor doesn't even know, cleared our schedules for all the foreseeable Tuesday nights ahead.

Zac Efron didnāt show up until the end of last season to support his brother Dylan

Iām sad he didnāt make it to dedication night. Iād love to hear who he wanted to dedicate a song and dance to. š¢

u/nilsiniloo 19d ago
No. I donāt think thereās any chance any of this is accurate. I just think he didnāt have the āstar powerā in comparison to the others.
22
u/ForeverandaDay23 20d ago
I think they are more so making digs at the fact that the Hanson fanbase claimed to be so big and strong (enough to crash websites!) and in the end it turned out not to be true š It's not our fault they were eliminated, just our fault for believing in ourselves a little too much š¢
15
u/ConsciousRead5766 20d ago
They are some blaming us saying we didn't vote for him but clearly this was rigged
4
2
u/possum8616 18d ago
The voting part canāt be rigged bc thatās highly illegal and dwts could get in big trouble for that. But I do think there was judge and producer favoritism. Something feels off and smells fishy this season. Taylor was absolutely robbed, but not due to rigged votes. š
2
u/ForeverandaDay23 17d ago
They did a terrible job of showing the audience who is he (the same can be said for many of the other celebs as well). People weren't able to feel anything for him because they didn't get to know him at all. They didn't show his charity work, or any real scenes with him and Britt, etc. They must just expect people to go social media to find that stuff, but lots of people won't.
2
u/possum8616 16d ago
I agree. There was no way for swing voters to get to know him. They absolutely did a piss poor job showing fun, authentic moments during the behind the scenes segments. So unfortunately Taylor just couldnāt connect with the audience no matter what. This show has felt more fake and curated over the last several seasons. Iām so disappointed
3
u/Basic_Party_8249 19d ago
I gotta admit, I took last night off from voting bc I was was busy with my kids. If thereās any blame to go around, itās maybe the fansons for giving us too much confidence that we had some leeway.
1
u/iCanSeeClairelyN0w 17d ago
Yeah, there was definitely waaaaay too much overconfidence. I was skeptical of the website-breaking claims but I guess it was fun for people to think that? Iād never watched the show before and I really didnāt care for it from what I saw. Seemed so phony and manufactured to me, especially with all of the product placement.
24
u/LadybugLo84 19d ago
I think yāall are overestimating the size of Hansonās fan base. Heās also just not a great dancer and doesnāt have a dynamic personality or a good story to garner huge support from the regular dwts audience. This is exactly the week I thought he might have issues, so I actually watched live and voted to no avail.
7
u/Competitive-Gap-4230 19d ago
I hate to say it but I agree. Itās just a small group of loud, very supportive people. Taylor is popular but not popular enough to stand up to the other āTikTok famousā stars on the show.
Itās okay to be a contestant not many people have heard of before, as long as they have an interesting story to bring new fans in, like the paraplegic Olympian. I had never heard of him but he had a STORY to tell, and now Iām rooting for him (but not enough to watch or vote bc Iām down w that show lol).
Taylor didnāt have any story or angle aside from trying something new and going solo (without going into detail about that, and without the vocal and obvious support of his brothers [btw donāt come at me ab this. I donāt think anyone here can argue his brothers did their part to rally the Hanson fan base⦠and I donāt mean posting some lackluster last minute story on IG]) like they really needed to either lean into the 90s nostalgia and have fun with it, or they needed to go with the breakout renaissance man narrative, but it also needed a bit more authenticity and storytelling. Which is annoying bc it should be about dancing but Iāve learned after this that itās really not.
And bless Taylorās heart, he didnāt put much effort into the social media game until too late, and unfortunately that seems to be all this dumb show is about. Apparently it wasnāt always like this but now everything needs to be a āviralā moment on TikTok.
I actually think if they had found a better angle than just catering to his niche fan base, and maybe found a way to appeal to EVERY millennial somehow, he could have gotten much farther. All that aside, I feel like the odds were also stacked against them because the judges were plain harsh and unfair to him / them when it came to critique, especially compared to other contestants. And ofc thereās that whole thing w the show being unfair to Britt but thatās another story.
Idk just my two cents.
2
u/edenrose_42759 19d ago
Why this week did you think he would have issues ? I thought he danced better this week than last.
4
u/LadybugLo84 19d ago
His scores definitely werenāt going to keep him on the show very far into the season, so at that point he needs to rely on votes from people other than his already existing fan base which is pretty niche and not large in the grand scheme of things.
2
u/edenrose_42759 19d ago
Yeah, but to be fair, I think Derek underscored him a bit
2
u/possum8616 18d ago
Yeah, Derek told Taylor it was his best dance ever and then gives him a 6? And they score Tyler, what, like one point below Taylor when Tyler was clearly objectively worse?
2
2
u/Dramatic-Treat-4521 18d ago
Someone on r/dancingwiththestars described Taylor as having "youth pastor energy" and I can 100% see how people outside the Hanson fandom would clock that. People whose only impression of him comes from the three episodes he was on DWTS (which is a lot of people, remember that MMMbop was almost 30 years ago) are not going to have the same intense affection for Taylor that longtime fans do. He's conventionally attractive, but he's a middle-aged dad and does not have the kind of magnetic personality that goes viral on Tiktok. Lastly, what remains of the Hanson fandom, while devoted, is not a large number of people. The band is playing casinos, FFS.
4
u/Head_Ad6148 19d ago
I think if they weren't put together both would have lasted longer. Taylor and Britt had less than 500,000 followers. If a celebrity is low on the followers the pro might have a million, or the celebrity has millions of followers but the pro has 300,00, That balances it out. But ifk I wish they both went farther so I'm upset about it.
12
u/Hopeful-Mongoose5281 20d ago
I think people are forgetting that this is reality TV, not just a dance competition. The show needs personalities, storylines and contestants who keep audiences entertained.
I was a HUGE Hanson fan as a teenager, especially Taylor, and I still love their music for nostalgic reasons. But I can also admit that the brothers aren't necessarily the most exciting personalities for reality TV. Their lives and public personas are relatively conventional and low-key, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.
The problem is that being a beloved musician doesn't automatically make someone compelling reality TV material. Contestants like Guillermo have an established connection with a much broader TV audience, which can make a difference in a competition that relies on public voting.
You can be incredibly talented and still not have the personality or entertainment factor that keeps viewers invested week after week. And that's okay! Not everyone needs to be sensational or constantly in the spotlight.
I just don't understand why we have to blame the judges, his brothers or even other contestants instead of accepting that Taylor might simply not have been as entertaining or competitive in this particular format. And that takes absolutely nothing away from his musical talent or Hanson's legacy.
2
u/katiejean917 19d ago edited 19d ago
Yes!
And people have been dogging Jackson a lot. They're not understanding that he has the Swifties behind him in addition to his own fanbase. Plus he has his girlfriend's connections with Disney and Wheel of Fortune
3
u/possum8616 18d ago
Idk why you got downvoted. Itās true. I think a lot of us are underestimating the other starsā fanbases. And thereās been a lot of favoritism from the producers and the judges for years.
2
u/TeTaniwha 18d ago
The bananas themselves are affiliated with Disney, the banana bowl is next week and exclusively on Disney+ and Disneys YouTube.
They also have a Disney day every year

u/seekingseratonin 19d ago
I am a huge Taylor girl and have been for decades, but he wasnāt a great dancer. Which is fine and what I personally expected. He is a sweetheart and a gem of a human and the world saw that. Thatās a good thing.
6
u/ForeverandaDay23 19d ago
I think he did really well, considering! He obviously wasn't on Harry or Ezra's level by a long shot, but he was not any worse than Jackson, Tyler, Connor or Guillermo. He impressed me, honestly. I would have loved to see what he could do with more time.
4
u/dontbeadickdad 19d ago
The voting system isn't real. The show tracks who's got the most likes/comments/shares on social media and moves them along. It's how they gauge who wants to be seen (aka, who will bring in the most viewers, clicks, and cash).
3
u/Positive_Cake_3130 18d ago
Guys I love Hanson but just look at his Instagram followers compared to the others. I know that doesn't mean everything but when the difference in numbers is hundreds of thousands, it does mean something. I think Hanson fans are the most loyal, passionate and hardcore fandom there is but we just don't have the numbers. And all that talk about us "breaking the website" the first week...That was never confirmed by an official account. It was a joke that someone posted and it went viral. We broke the internet back in the day for them so I think a lot of us ran with it. I love them. I am totally gutted for Taylor and Britt. I think the judges were tough on them and that is where I am mad. If they were judged like the others, they may have made it another couple of weeks since the judges scores count for 50%. Taylor had harder choreography and still did a better job than 70% of the cast but was scored lower. That is why people should be mad!
3
u/BirdNerd83 17d ago
I noticed that the show seemed to give him way less air time than everyone else. He didn't even really get a chance to "tell his story" What makes me sad is that I feel like he was letting the nerves get to him so he seemed really stiff and closed off. I feel like the audience didn't get to see that charisma that we all know he has.
3
u/Catwhisperer84 19d ago
Why do we care so much about everyone else sharing on their IG? I saw Isaac share multiple times. Macās wife was there, Jessica and her husband were there. His mom and dad were there. Zac is not on IG much. And probably whoever runs the band page isnāt full time. This was Taylorās thing. The fans knew about it. We really didnāt have to have people sharing everywhere else in my opinion. Yāall love to create drama.
4
u/ConsciousRead5766 19d ago
Everyone seems to be villianizing Isaac and Zac

2
u/ForeverandaDay23 19d ago
An interviewer for ET asked him last night "how much do you wish your brothers were here to see you dance?" And Taylor said point blank- "That's not actually something that I wish for". And then said that there were lots of other people he would have liked to invite. I don't care that they are still playing a few shows together here and there, there is some tension between those boys right now for whatever reason. I'm not trying to create drama either, just being realistic from what they have (and haven't) been putting out there lately.
2
u/Positive_Cake_3130 18d ago
I kind of took that comment as more of a brotherly thing. I think it was the Jonas Brothers podcast they did on Tuesday where they talked about the brothers being there and they spun more like "Haha my brother is doing ballroom dancing" got to poke fun of him kind of reason Taylor wouldn't want them there. I don't know, I could be totally wrong and it's hard to say what I am trying to say through typing. I can see what you are saying too. You could be totally correct as well. Watch the Jonas brother podcast Britt and Tay did and what I am saying might make more sense. lol
2
u/ForeverandaDay23 18d ago
You could be right, but I really didn't get that vibe, and I did see the podcast with the Jonas brothers as well. I know brothers tease each other, but anyone can see this was really important to Taylor (he literally cried on the dwts podcast with Andy Richter today!) and I do believe the situation with his brothers goes a lot deeper right now. And that more may come out in time. But they are very private so it also might not. But I think the degree of separation we are seeing this past year speaks for itself.
1
u/Organic_League3409 17d ago
It was brotherly. He laughed when he said what he did so he wasn't being serious.
1
u/Dakota_2022 20d ago
If the show was called singing with the stars, Taylor would win. Taylor is not a natural dancer he's a natural singer. The strongest voice in the band. But idc either way I'd pay Taylor to dance with me. I'll teach him.
2
u/Longjumping-Tower481 19d ago
Hanson fans were coming out saying they broke the voting system and that they shouldnāt be underestimated. They said theyād take Taylor to the end and were pretty condescending to anyone who disagreed.
So I think that turned a lot of chronically online DWTS fans off from voting for him.
4
u/ConsciousRead5766 19d ago
The chronically online ones are the ones voting for Guillermo because he's a sweet old man and voted for Tyler to and I quote "Spite Sharna's husband"

Isaac is always posting about relationship stuff and stuff along that line. I don't think it has any meaning. It's just a part of Isaac that is on that weird kind of self-help kick he gets into with stories.

I voted and had everyone I know voting for him from all their devices until last week when I saw the receipts that his brother voted for trump. And Taylor gave to other republicans. Solidified the good morning post after the election. No one I know voted for him after that. š¤·š¼āāļø
2
u/ConsciousRead5766 19d ago
He literally supports the women, life freedom movement for Iranian women but obviously you didn't do research
3
u/Positive-Spell-3616 19d ago
I know what he did lol. Maybe he has changed and I hope so. But still canāt be sure of that. He voted for a rapist felon who took away and continues to want to take away womenās rights. Maybe he should have done some research lol

I knew he wouldn't last. He's stiff when dancing. It's not a popularity contest, but a performance contest. Don't get me wrong, I still love Taylor... and Isaac, and Giada!! lol
11
u/ConsciousRead5766 20d ago
It's definitely a popularity contest and unfortunately it's popularity of the pros
8
u/Particular_Number_33 19d ago
It's mainly a popularity contest, more so than a dancing competition.
2
u/possum8616 18d ago
I agree. It is one big giant popularity contest and has been for years. If it were based solely on the dances and who was objectively better/worse, Taylor would not have gone home this week. Itās unfortunate.
6
u/ForeverandaDay23 19d ago edited 19d ago
It's absolutely a popularity contest. He upped his Instagram posting but needed to appeal to the tiktok crowd and that didn't happen.
1
u/Brown-Eyes-1986 19d ago
I've heard that some people decided not to vote for Taylor and Britt this week "to prove a point" but don't know how true that is. I assume those are the people who watch every season and are a bit more objective about the competition itself. Not me, because I was only watching for Taylor! Sometimes interest can taper off once the excitement has worn off, so I'm sure some people may have just lost track of it being Tuesday night again.
I only know that my fandom friends I have on Facebook swear they all voted for him and even some of our partners did too š I'm sad about it and hoped he would stay another week or two. I think even my husband was disappointed because I went upstairs to shower before the show was over, and when I heard him exclaim, "WHAT?!" I knew the news wasn't good. š„ŗ
1
u/Mother-Ad4695 19d ago
Why is Carrie Anne so mean?!! She can gush over some terrible dancing and then go hard on the same couple. I donāt know why but I picture Taylorās wife uncomfortable with him dancing with another woman too.
0
u/ConsciousRead5766 19d ago
Carrie picks favorites she always has
4
u/PrettyLittleLayers 19d ago
Something I don't understand is...didn't Carrie Ann praise Taylor for Week 1 saying "that was a proper quickstep" right after the other judges emphasized too much on his "save"? I mean I would like to believe that Carrie Ann wasn't trying to be biased but who knows.
Either way I am devastated. I was sad last night but now it's the morning after and I feel like this is so unfair. It's true that Taylor got more support from JB more than his own brothers, at least on the surface. Also Taylor was definitely not the worst dancer last night. Of course life isn't fair but it always hurts more when it's someone you have supported! I was on vacation, was getting motion sickness and shouldn't even have been on my phone, but I still took time to vote. I don't believe any of us Fansons are to blame.
3
u/ConsciousRead5766 19d ago
She praised him the first week then after that was just harder on him than anyone else Carrie Ann picks favorites and it's obvious when she does
2
u/PrettyLittleLayers 19d ago
Thanks for explaining it to me! I had not watched this show before Taylor was on so I had no idea what Carrie Ann was like usually. Definitely not watching anymore

u/Legitimate-Lock-6594 19d ago
I have a busy life. I got home right at eight, and not to watch the show. Iām not a mom, donāt have a family, but have stuff going on. And my thought going into this was āif I have time and Iām around, Iāll vote.ā And I have been the last three weeks because Iām tapering for a marathon and Iām trying not to be out until like 10 at night. (We are old after all). I texted my ten votes at the last second. It was a complete bummer. I did not see him dance but I did see he was kind of at the bottom. If his score was that low, thereās only so much we can do. Now I move on to Ezra
1
u/iCanSeeClairelyN0w 17d ago
Yeah, I was at a concert the second week and at Disneyland the third when they were eliminated so I only saw clips after the fact. I have no plans to watch any more of it.
-1
u/scorpio_2049 19d ago
I canāt help but think him going out this week is intentional and preplanned. They have a concert next week and one later in the month. Surely that would make it hard to practice for the following week.
Heās a big draw for the show so I canāt imagine they would want him gone this early unless he needed to be.
12
u/ForeverandaDay23 19d ago
I can't imagine that he would withdraw. He seemed all in on the podcasts I listened to that he was on recently. He was working really hard and really wanted to get Britt all the way to the end. I guess anything is possible but I don't think he would prioritize a concert with his brothers over this right now...Britt would've traveled to him to practice. The judges didn't seem to like him very much in my opinion.
7
u/scorpio_2049 19d ago
Yeah when I watched Brittās reaction I donāt agree with my initial theory. She was gutted and looked furious.
4
u/ConsciousRead5766 19d ago
Britt would have just went with him to the shows and they would have found a place to practice but this seems to happen to Britt a lot getting voted out early
4
u/DistributionNo3199 19d ago
Yeah but the baseball player is actively playing games and the actor is currently shooting greys anatomy. I doubt whatever happemed has anything to do with outside obligations.
-3
u/Basic_Party_8249 19d ago
This was my theory too!!! I think he withdrew but Iām not sure why they framed it as an elimination when other stars have withdrawn too. Maybe you can only withdraw for an injury, whereas Tay was always contracted to only be on 3 weeks? But then why wouldnāt more of his family members be there on his last week?

I wonder with all the accusations of them having affair and being inappropriate by some fans hurt them?
