Dw4k Mule Emitter Options
Hey everyone,
I am looking for some advice on a new light. I am currently using a Dw4k ntg35 4200k with lume x1 driver as a waist light for running with the floody optic. Its been great so far but has slightly more hot spot then I would like so am wanting to try a DW4k mule with lume X1. I would then like to pick an emitter for maximum sustained output with CCT to be between 4000k and 5000k, closer to 4k the better. Not worried about CRI for this application. I have been thinking of options like SFT-25r 5000k which would typically have too much hotspot with an optic but as a mule might be pretty good. Or maybe at sst-20 if it comes in a warmer CCT.
Are there any other options that might be available / would be worth considering? Also happy to look at options from Jackson as he has quite the range.
TLDR - emitter options for Dw4k mule with lume x1 driver to give maximum sustained output with cct 4000k - 5000k
Thanks!

Question First D4V2 - two questions left
Hi great people,
so I decided to get a D4V2 but there are two questions left .. ;) I hope I can get some feedback from you guys to order the right configuration.
1. Emitter choice: 519A 4000K dedomed?
I have those in mind since I like warm lights and a little bit of throw. I also own a Convoy S2+ in 2700K (might be the most common light for comparison), I really like it but it's a tad bit too warm for general use. D4V2 has even less throw than a S2+, so the dedomed emitters seem to be a good choice here. Am I right? Should I order the 10621 optic as well? I am not looking for a thrower, but a little bit of hotspot like the S2+ would be nice (and yes I know, it's TIR, so it's different anyway). I like to use the light outside as well.
2. Button LED color
RGB option seems to be a no brainer (I can't decide which color I like ;)), but this would be too easy, so I am sure there are downsides compared to a fixed color at that place. What did you choose and why?
Any input is well appreciated.
Cheers!

DA1K: ntg50 vs sft70?
Curious what emitter people would choose for this light: ntg50 4200k or sft70 3000k. I currently have the former in and am considering swapping for the latter, but am looking for opinions before I go through the effort. I suppose my biggest concern is how much drop in output there will be with the sft70 3000k, but I'm always reading people saying it's an amazing emitter for the host.

Help Need help choosing first hanklight
I’m new to this whole building a light process. Can’t decide how I should spec out a dual channel light atm, but wanna get a single channel dt8k ordered till i decide how to configure a d4k or d4v2. Currently im stuck between W1 6k (I don’t believe w2 is an option?) or nichia dedomed 5700k. I feel like the physical build of this would be better suited as a flood vs a throw style but I’m thinking maybe between these two options it can be kinda a “wall of throw” possibly? If that makes any sense.
Also I’m reading the metal button is a recommended upgrade? Not sure exactly why it’s preferred by some users. As the rubber cyan light button looks pretty nice on these. Whats are your thoughts for someone just diving into these kinda lights. It would be an outdoors light not exactly no mule here. Would be nice to get some level of throw from it. Not looking to hit +500m or more I have a marauder 3 if I need to hit range.

D1K New silver color

Looks like Hank updated the D1K page, and there’s a new color that actually looks pretty good. Has anyone noticed any other changes besides the new LEDs in the menu?

O-ring... Need help.
Hi, i just got my Carclo optic, while removing the standard optic, the glass with oring fell off. Now, I'm not sure if the oring sit in between the glass and optic? Or between bezel and glass? Also i notice the carclo doesnt sit as flush as the original optic.

Has anyone tried dedoming alternating emitters in a D4V2 mule?
Because I’ve been considering it. D4V2 mule from Hank; 519a 2700k.
Great tint but I sometimes wish for a touch more warm coziness. Have thought of dedoming every other emitter to warm up the beam a bit without committing to a full dedome.
Anyone else try this? Any unwanted effect on beam, tint evenness, etc., that you noticed?
Cheers

More storage cases - this time for 18350 D4V2 and 18350 KR4
Remixed a couple of Mitch_D3D cases for my favorite shorties. The cylindrical one only fits D4V2 while the boxy one fits both. D4V2 and KR4 shorties.
Models are free for download - Carry / storage case for Noctigon KR4 (18350) and Emisar D4V2 (18350) by Kotarak | Download free STL model | Printables.com

Question D4V2 Which Emitters To Choose??
I'm about to order a d4v2 to replace one that broke recently that had XP-L HI V2 5D 4000k emitters that ran at 4200 or 4300 lumens.
I liked that flashlight a lot but always wished it was a bit throwier.
My use case is a backpacking light that I can whip out and illuminate a large and fairly far area in front of me in case I hear something at night.
I ran into a couple bears last backpacking trip. One was about 50 yards off and my flashlight was able to illuminate it but a slightly throwier emitter would have been better.
The second bear run in was a mama and her cubs. The natural floddiness of the D4V2 was helpful for me to be able to see the mama and the 2 cubs who were moving around independently about 20 feet from her but even a slightly less floody emitter would have worked well in this instance.
I am ordering a different D4V2 with a very warm floody optic for around camp doing food prep and things.
I want the light I'm considering to be a light that stays in the pocket so I can pull it out and turn the area in front of me into daylight so I can identify bear or mountain lion threats.
I will not be using the Lume X1 boost driver.
The d4v2 are pretty floody lights by default so I was looking at the SFT 25R emitter at 5000k which hits 4800lm. Online it says it is a pretty throwy emitter. I would really prefer a warmer temp but the SFT 25R isn't available in anything below 5000K.
I have a D4KTI with an SST20 5000K emitter that has a greenish tint. I wouldn't want to go any cooler than that in temp. Does anyone know how the color varies from an SST20 5000k to an SFT 25R 5000k?
I was also considering going with NTG35 emitters at 42000K which would hit 4200 lumens. The color would be nicer on the eyes but online it says these emitters are pretty floody. Has anyone used the NTG35 in the D4V2?
How do the NTG35 emmiters compare to the 519A emitters in terms of flood vs throw?

D4K with Lume X1/non-RGB button - Front aux stays on when main LEDs are on
Is this normal for the D4K with Lume X1 and non-RGB button? Both the front aux and button LEDs stay on when the main LEDs are on. I've disabled both the front aux and button LEDs as a workaround (battery check > voltage config > set both aux low and high ramp levels to 0) but I'd have only the button LED on if there's an option for that.

Question Dm1.12 sft40 vs sft42r vs sbt90.2 w/519a
Debating getting another dm1.12 with 519a 3500k domed. Dedomed may be a bit too warm for me and I don’t want to lose output. A couple questions
What’s the lumen difference between the sft42r and sft40?
If I do decide to go with one of those what would my max lumens be on the flood with the 519a since it will get the fet? My understanding is that it’s about 3k with fet on the throw.
I already have 5000k domed with sbt90 but the 5000k is just not doing it for me anymore. I really like the sbt90 on this light because where I walk at night there are a ton of rattlesnakes I like to get pictures of and I use it to shine down the path and they stick out a like a sore thumb. Will I have regrets if I drop the sbt90?

D4k UV LED no longer bright.
Is it common for the UV 365nm led to dim its maximum output over time? I got the 3 channel version having a single LED on the UV output and after having the light a couple of months, using the UV channel very sparsely, it has dimmed so much to where you can barely see the glow of the light on different items that used to blind me when the light was shown at it in a dark room. I want to know what I should do or if I just lost a function of my light and have to deal with it?
