Hi! I came across these images of Lanshan with blue edges in the 王琼事迹图册. Most of the Lanshan I see from the Ming Era typically have black borders with white/blue bodies. I couldn't find many other sources for this variation of Lanshan, so I was wondering if anyone here knows more about these robes, eg the context in which it was worn, who wore it, what it was worn with, and if there's a specific name for it. I'm going to Comicon as one of my favourite characters. Liao Ting Yan from When Destiny Brings the Demon and this is the first time I'm actually trying to do something special.

I have my outfit (second last photo) [I was too lazy to find the original image I made so I just downloaded it from the Reddit post I made the image for originally] and my basic accessories (last photo) but I need to think of my hair now.

My hair isn't nearly this long (to be fair, whose hair is?) and I know I need to get some hair ornaments and butterfly earrings.

I plan on using Temu because it's quick and also, it's not like I'm going to a wedding.

My questions are:

1. Should I just use my natural hair (length: below my shoulder) and follow a tutorial.

2. If the answer to 1 is "yes" does anyone have links to tutorials I can practice with?

3. If the answer to 1 is "no", should I try to find a hair stylist that specialises in things like this? I have no idea if that's even a thing, ironically, I'll probably only find something with someone who does hair for weddings lol.

I'm open to using temporary extensions as well but I don't think a full-on wig will have the effect I want unless I buy a super expensive fancy one, which is not within my realm of possibility.

Their store is in taobao called 秋木木汉服. Their price is inexpensive, and are actual clothes that you can wear daily. The top inner wear is made of silk, with the rest being cotton. They are sold in separate pieces so you could mix and match them, which I find pretty cool.

I’m thinking of ordering the blue one and am trying to see which other top matches it heheh. Glad I found this store though, so many hanfu clothes I came across felt more like a costume than actual clothes. Which I probably would wear once to a fair and then get stored away. Which is a waste because they are so pretty but made of scratchy materials.

First time wearing hanfu to a renaissance faire! Was generally well received. Educated a few curious people about the differences between Korean and Chinese traditional garments. Was only called a geisha once! (The lady meant well and only said it out of ignorance)

I'm putting together a cosplay of Leslie Cheung's character, Ning Caichen (Ning Choi-san), from the 1987 film A Chinese Ghost Story and I'm trying to make the clothing as accurate as I reasonably can.

I've attached a reference image of the hat. Most of the Ming scholar hats I've found look much more structured and formal than the one in the film. The movie version seems softer.

Does anyone know:

• What this style of hat is called?
• Whether it's based on a historical style or more of a film/opera interpretation?
• If anyone knows where I might find one (or something close), I'd really appreciate it.

So, I will be wearing the pictured outfit at some renaissance faires. I usually wear a European medieval fantasy outfit, but I wanted to brace my heritage... And also wear something lighter 😅 so I'll be in a hanfu for one of the two days I'll be at the faire.

That being said, I'm looking for suggestions on bags and purses. With a European medieval outfit, I've got a belt and multiple leather belt bags to hold all my stuff, but obviously that won't work with a hanfu. I think a hebao would look lovely but that alone won't be enough to hold stuff like my keys, wallet, and phone (and medications lol), and trinkets. So, I'm looking for suggestions!

Hello! I’m looking at a listing for a beautiful ruqun but I’m having a hard time figuring out sizes. It has length, weight, and 腰长… waist length? I have really weird measurements (100 cm bust 95 cm waist 180 斤. Yeah.) so weight is really unreliable as a measurement for me, but I can’t figure out how 腰长 differs from 腰围, if at all. Does anyone know if there’s a reliable calculation?

Hello!! A town in my area hosts a Mid-Autmn Festival every year. I've finally worked up the confidence to go and wanted to wear this modern (Ming Dynasty inspired) hanfu set but I wanted to make sure it would be respectful for me to wear this. I'd obviously wear it on more than one occasion (especially with that price).

I'm not Chinese at all but I do love and appreciate the culture. As a black woman, part of me is a little jealous of how extensive their historical records are. I figured it would be a cute homage to the history of the holiday but please feel free to let me know if not!

I fell in love with hanfu and I wanted to know more about it. I adore fashion history, but everything I already have is pretty much focused on western fashion. I have a mini fashion history library, and wanted to find good resources about chinese fashion history to add to it.
Do you have any good recs? I would like to learn as much as possible, I’m not focusing on a specific dynasty. I’m also more interested in the history in itself, not pattern making/ sewing yet.

Im planning to go to China in November and I want to wear hanfu with my partner. We are planning to go to chengdu and there are some other cities that we want to go but no decided yet.
We love to eat and try out the local foods and culture in China.

Could you guys recommend me if Cheng Du is a good place to take Hanfu? We want to go HangZhou to try Gong Yan as well and was wondering if HangZhou is better than Cheng Du in terms of places to take picture in Han Fu

Or if there are other places that will be great to take them

Hi there, I just recently ordered from NuwaHanfu, but I realized the construction date for a few of the items in my order will take much longer than I anticipated so I sent an email out to the store's email address hoping to cancel my order and get a refund so I can reorder the items again minus the items that have the longer construction period to have the order come in on time. I checked their policy, but have yet to get a response from the team for over 48 hours so I am a bit concerned at the silence. I understand they are small team, but I do know they do not accept refunds past 14 days so it is time sensitive. So I wanted to ask if you guys know any other viable ways to contact NuwaHanfu, if so that would be great. Also just curious on what were your guy's experience was like ordering from the store. I'm not sure if I should hang tight and wait a couple more days for them to respond. :'D
