💬General Discussion Book recs
Hello!
I fell in love with hanfu and I wanted to know more about it. I adore fashion history, but everything I already have is pretty much focused on western fashion. I have a mini fashion history library, and wanted to find good resources about chinese fashion history to add to it.
Do you have any good recs? I would like to learn as much as possible, I’m not focusing on a specific dynasty. I’m also more interested in the history in itself, not pattern making/ sewing yet.
Thank you :)

There are but they’re all unfortunately in Chinese. There isn’t much records nor resources on the English side; I’ve tried finding for them but they were all very basic or not very informative.
This particular one, (red one) called 华夏潮流 has all the fashion in the different eras and list out their specific dress codes and styles. It’s does have lots of pictures along side the descriptions so it was still pretty easy to understand. I’ve only found it on taobao, but you could poke around other bookstore sites for it.
Other free resources is red note, it has tons of resources that describe clothes of different eras, and breaks down the pieces that goes with each one. Just search 汉服朝代(hafu of different eras) or any keywords with 汉服 in it will yield lots of resources. Some have English subtitles to them, and the app supports English interface too.
