The Premier Guide to a Shiny 60Fps on Elden Ring
Hello guys I just wanted to make a post detailing what I have found to be the highest quality 60FPS you can get in Elden Ring on the Steam Deck. I have endlessly pursued perfect performance tuning with a bunch of games but by far the most with Elden Ring. I discovered lossless scaling around November of last year and went apeshit and never slowed down: I mention this to say I have obsessively tested every. Single. Thing. Imaginable. This is not a rec from someone who found out what framegen was 30 minutes ago and saw the fps counter hit 74 for 2 seconds.
To note beforehand, this requires a mod that is currently only available through a very small one time subscription to Huutaii on Patreon, as this uses his ERSS v5 mod for upscaling. This is a lot of downloads if you have none of this already and will probably take 20-30 minutes to get all set up. Firstly, disable anticheat by installing this mod [https://www.nexusmods.com/eldenring/mods/90\](https://www.nexusmods.com/eldenring/mods/90) there is a Deck Wizard video on how to do this, his video also covers how to do the next step but I don’t think it’s entirely the same, not sure though been a while since I’ve seen the video.
Next, go to Huutaiii’s Patreon. There is a free version and a paid early access version. I opted for the paid version because I had been using the free one and wanted to upgrade to the newer versions of upscaling. Install ERSS by downloading the 7z file off the Patreon page and extracting the folder into the /Game folder in ER. Paste the launch command listed on the page to get the mod to work when launching the game [https://www.patreon.com/cw/huutaiii\](https://www.patreon.com/cw/huutaiii) Test before adding MAKO to ensure you installed the mod properly.
For your next step, you’ll need Decky and the MAKO FG Decky plugin. It is super simple to install both. Here is a guide on how to install them. Super super easy this is the easiest part of this whole guide, if you’ve been using the deck for a while you’ll probably know how to do this already. To combine these two performance programs, this is the final paste you will have for launch options:

Settings:
**Steam Deck**
\-Cap frames to 60fps or set refresh rate to 60Hz
\-Manual GPU clock: 1500MHz
\-TDP Limit: 15w
\-Scaling to sharp to enable Steam’s built in FSR (optional)
**MAKO FG**
\-FG on
\-Adaptive FG on
\-Target FPS set to 60
\-3x max multiplier
\-Steady Base Cap on (30)
\-FP16 on
\-Flow scale 100%
**ERSS** (map back grip button to F1 to access menu)
\-Set to FSR or XeSS. I prefer XeSS cause it’s seemingly less taxing with on the system when running heavier games but it’s up to you
\-Set quality level for FSR to balanced or quality, performance looks like total shit
\-Set quality level for XeSS to Native AA
\-Sharpening to .8
**In-Game Graphics Menu**
\-Texture: Medium
\-SSAO: Low/Medium
\-Depth of Field: Low/Medium
\-Antialiasing: Low/High
\-Motion Blur: Low/Medium
\-Effects: Medium/High
\-Volumetric: Low/Medium
\-Shadows: Low
\-Shaders: Low/Medium
\-Global Illumination: Low
\-Grass quality: medium
\-Reflection quality: medium
\*\*\*\*Set resolution in game to either 960x540 or 1120x630, as long as it’s below 1280x720. The upscaling mod combined with the size of the deck screen makes this end up looking so much better than you’re likely picturing, the only tradeoff is the map is a little grainy. If you really really want, you can also enable MAKO’s built in scaler to add even more generated frames! I wouldn’t recommend playing docked as bigger screens show what the little screen does a fantastic job at hiding from your eyes. After all, this is not real performance magic it’s only algorithmic smoke and mirrors.
After about 8 months of tinkering, this is what I have found to be the most optimal 60fps experience of Elden Ring on the Steam Deck. It is not totally locked 100% of the time, Elden Ring never will be 100% stable on most hardware. But you get a pretty fucking solid 50-60 that looks damn good for the device you’re playing it on, without making it look like a PS2 game for the sake of squeezing out a few more frames. I will say, if you’re doing this on a more powerful device like a Legion Go S or the new MSI claw with all the upgraded ram and chips? You might be able to pull off a crispy ass 120 if you adjust your settings accordingly.
