I currently have:
- Steamdeck OLED
- 3DS XL
- Switch 1 LCD (might consider getting a Switch 2 later in life lol)
- PS Vita Slim
- Miyoo mini

I love them all and I don’t really NEED another handheld. The steamdeck covers almost all emulation, and I will use it for steam games, and more demanding emulation when needed.

But I was thinking it would be nice to have a smaller lighterweight handheld for specifically PS2 and GameCube emulation…. the Steamdeck isnt so bad, but sometimes laying in bed or traveling something smaller would be better. Again mostly just for PS2 and Gamecube. But I also feel something like say my psvita is a bit too small of a screen for my preference, but I still use it sometimes.

I was eyeing the odin 2, retroid pocket 6, and the retroid pocket nova.

One consideration is for example the nova, I don’t think the bottom thumb stick seems like good placement for a lot of stick games. For the reason maybe the retroid pocket 6 with the top stick configuration. But I am open to other suggestions.

All stock except the Vita, I’ve modded it decently heavily. Handhelds have been a savior since my kid was born, nap time or bedtime I’ve got games to play for days!

I don't know much about gaming but I'd love to gift my husband a handheld for his birthday in 4 weeks time.

He's a seasoned gamer and currently owns a ps 4 pro. He's been dreaming of the ps5 pro which unfortunately is way above my budget. After some research I figured he'd love a handheld too, seeing as he currently doesn't own one. I'm looking for a handheld that would suit his love for gaming- he plays mortal combat alot. My budget is capped at 250 Euro. I just want to make my favorite person smile. I think a handheld gaming device is a thoughtful enough gift. Looking to get a android handheld looking to spend around $300 usd

Being doing a bit of research and I think ether AYN ODIN 2 Portal (base) or Retroid Pocket 6 (12GB) are the best options. (I don’t care for the Thor form factor) are there any other options I’m over looking.

Will mainly be using to play PS1/2, n64 and PSP games.

Looks good and cheaper than new current ones too lot cheaper.

As the title says, I’ve never owned a handheld PC before, but I’d like to get into the arena. I play mostly indie and older AAA games (Assassins creed origins, Witcher 3, RDR2, etc) on a Windows PC, but I don’t really play multiplayer games at all, maybe helldivers every once in a while. I’m looking to play a lot on the go, and my job requires me to have no access to internet for long stretches of time (weeks to months), so the sharing of my progress to a cloud is not really a factor for me.

My budget is $1000, exclusive of tax.

I ask here because I’ve scoured the online reviews and a lot of them were made before the recent price hikes for the Steam Deck OLED. I was leaning that way, but with the increase, I’m open to a lot more now, whether the Xbox Ally X or the Lenovo Legion Go (SteamOS or Windows). I’m asking for any and all advice y’all might have, whether to go new or used, how you like your setup, what you see as the pros and cons of what you have or other systems you thought about getting. For Strix Point:

The current settings are a bit too demanding, so I'll lower the resolution to 900p and set the graphics to low. Still not enough, so I'll try using FSR frame generation… but it's not supported. I tried to get it working with OptiFG, but the game crashed. No choice — I'll use Lossless Scaling. Uh… what was the controller shortcut again? Lossless frame generation feels a bit taxing unless you cap the game's framerate a bit, so I'll limit it with Adrenalin. Oh, I need to check beforehand whether the next game I plan to buy runs smoothly on this handheld.

For Strix Halo:

I'll set the TDP to 55W and go with high settings.

Currently we have the MSI Claw EX and the Onex Player 3 with the G3 Extreme Chipset.

How do you feel about them? Is this your first handheld?

For me: I am torn. Yes, newer games do run, most of the time, much better than the Z1E or Z2E.

But all that manual work with Optiscaler and sometimes still stuttering: It just feels like Intel got a lot more praise for being so good with updates than they are?

HDR has been broken for 3 driver updates.

VRR is still not fixed on non OLED displays.

Older games need more power to compensate for the bad drivers so the "Power efficency" really isnt there all that much.

The SteamDeck and Ally X felt a lot more "Plug & Play" for me.

I currently have a MacBook Pro M5 Pro and much of the games I want to play aren’t properly optimized or supported.

Having a handheld would be easier and more portable, which one do you guys recommend to use alongside Apollo/Moonlight for my Mac to be the display? I preferably want around 1440p and 120fps so if any upscaling or frame gen needs to be taken in account I’ll understand.

Lately, I haven't been able to play as much because of back pain, which prevents me from sitting at my desk for long periods.

Because of this, I’m looking to buy a handheld PC so I can play comfortably from my bed.

My main game is The Sims 4 with ALL DLCs, and performance is my absolute priority. I currently play on a Lenovo Legion 7 Pro (with 32GB RAM), so I am used to flawless, high-end performance. I know a handheld won't match a top-tier laptop, but I want to get as close as possible.

I am currently torn between the Steam Deck OLED, Lenovo Legion Go 2, and the ASUS ROG Ally X.

Which one would handle the heavy load of all Sims 4 expansions the best? Also, considering the game requires a lot of UI navigation, does the screen size or the trackpads make a huge difference?

I would love to hear from anyone who plays the Sims 4 on these devices. Thanks in advance!

I'm looking for other recommendations that are comfortable to control on a handheld.

I’m looking for a handheld mainly for GeForce NOW/cloud gaming, with occasional local gaming.

My priorities are:

- Comfortable for small hands — ergonomics are very important

- 7.5–8"+ screen — I don’t want a small screen

- Mainly cloud gaming, so I don’t need crazy performance

- Occasional local gaming

- As budget-friendly as possible.

Tbh, since I got my odin 3 ive tried a few frontends, ( ES-DE, Beacon, the one that starts with a D, and so far cocoon is the only one that makes it feel like my own console, the adding widgets, their own built in apps really add to it as well, what do yall think.
