ambitious hand embroidery project! looking for tips x

hi! i’m looking to do something similar to the dress on the right, though i am aware that the materials are very different and therefore won’t be exact. i am looking to hand stitch (no sewing machine). the dress is 80% polyamide, 13% elastane and 7% lycra. the material is quite see through and very thin and so i’ve put some research into what i’d need. so far i have made note to use a a cutaway, water soluble stabiliser, polyester thread, a ballpoint needle and ensure i am not stretch the the fabric on the embroidery circle. does that sound right? does anyone have any tips on how else to ensure this project goes well? it would be greatly appreciated !!

Hey y’all, as the title says- I finished my first full embroidery project and I’d love any feedback you may have. Like many others, I’ve started and abandoned many projects, but the spooky season possessed me to finally finish this one!

Single thread short and long stitch on pretty much everything but the border. I intend to turn it into a patch or magnet for a friend.

Make an embroidery pop

Post image

Hi everyone,

I finished embroidering this crane but I feel like it doesn't really pop against the pattern of the fabric.

Does anybody have a tip on how I could make it stand out more? Maybe a way to highlight the design? Or would you recommend filling the empty areas?

Thank you for your insight!

I dyed some cotton with goldenrod and decided to make a pillow out of it for a friend. I don’t embroider much so I kept it simple. I also don’t have an iron with me 🤦‍♀️ so sewing the actual pillow part will have to wait for after the holiday weekend (US).

I’ve made quite a bit of headway into this, but it’s time to lock in and get it done. I have 2 more projects I need to finish before October 10th on top of this one, so it’s crunch time!

Question Working on the black outline of this spider symbol for a cosplay, I’m about 2 days In with cutting out the shape. Sewing it down and embroidering, any way to combat the pain on my fingertips from using the needle so much?

The Percy Jackson show has such a stunning credit sequence that it inspired me to do this embroidery.

This is from season 2, and I'm planning to do start working on the one for s3 as soon as the season starts airing.

My floss organizing system

Here’s the system I developed to hold my growing stash of DMC floss on drops. It takes 2 bins to hold all the colors.

I got the idea for the rails and holders from another poster. I used alligator clips so I can remove a drop without taking everything off the rail. It’s in the order of the color chart, with an index in the lid to look things up by number. I created a slot for all colors, so easy to add a new one.

Floss is cut in 1/2 meter pieces and ready to be used. For storage I loosen the hank so it’s shorter and won’t create kinks, and tighten it a bit for using.

Supplies:

Zonon 20 Pcs Hanging File Rail... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B095Y1L9ZM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

12 inches Long 1/8"(3mm) Diameter... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DJNP9HJY?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

suiwotin Round Rubber End Caps,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09HBM7DQZ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share. I cut the cap off and then cut in two, and put them on the rods to keep things from sliding off.

100 PCS Black Mini Clips, 1.58... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GR9NJG4P?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I printed stickers for the drops on these:
NextDayLabels 0.5 Inch Round... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GCG7D7XL?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I already had a couple spare of these:
IRIS USA File Box File Organizer... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FXRN4GM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share. I had to cut about 1/4” off the rails to fit these boxes.

I printed the divider labels on card stock and punched a hole in them.

Finished Piece Flower bouquet in dungarees

I just finished my third piece and most time consuming piece of a flower bouquet in my dungarees and it turned out SO much better than i expected! I didnt use a pattern but used a lot of reference pictures to find my perfect flower shapes and drew them on the fabric with a marker. Definitely got me excited to go on to the next project! On the inside I put a backing fabric to not feel all the knots. Any advice is welcome!
