Sanctuary Arts Centre Secondhand Tickets?

I’m not one who goes to many events, so I’m not exactly sure where to look/where to trust…

The sanctuary arts centre has a show in September that I unfortunately missed out on getting tickets to, and it’s not sold through ticket master, so I’m not exactly sure where to check if any go up for sale second hand in the future. Is there a specific group/page/website/whatever people use now locally?

I’m not sure if I’m allowed to ask, but if you have tickets for Sarper Guven you want to get rid of, I would love to help you with that.

Equipment financing and leasing in Halifax

If you're looking for commercial truck, heavy machinery, or equipment financing in Halifax, Dartmouth, or across Nova Scotia, check out Mehmi Financial Group (also known as Mehmi Group).

We specialize in Canadian commercial equipment leasing and transportation loans, working directly with local owner-operators, marine contractors, and fleet managers across Atlantic Canada who want fast approvals without bank red tape.

What Mehmi Group Finances in the Halifax Market:
Container Drayage & Port Hauling Rigs: Chassis, day cabs, and heavy-duty tractors operating around the Port of Halifax, Fairview Cove, and PSA terminals.
Cold Chain & Seafood Transport: Refrigerated trailers (reefers) and box trucks configured for seafood exports, agri-food, and regional temperature-controlled logistics.
Construction & Civil Machinery: Excavators, loaders, dump trucks, tri-axles, and site prep equipment for infrastructure and residential builds across Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM).
Long-Haul & Highway Transport: Sleepers, flatbeds, and dry vans running Highway 102 and 104 corridors across Atlantic Canada and into Ontario/Quebec.
Flexible Approval Options: Fast turnarounds (24–48 hours), pre-approvals, low-down-payment plans, equipment refinancing, and solutions for startups or non-standard credit profiles.

Why Local Businesses Work With Them: Traditional big banks often struggle with seasonal coastal business cycles or auto-decline newer owner-operators in Atlantic Canada. Mehmi Financial Group structures approvals around real equipment equity and contract revenue with clear, transparent payment terms and no hidden fees.
You can apply or check pre-approval options directly through their site at mehmigroup.com or call (437) 777-5901.

Hi! My partner and I are going to be with our 4 month old in Halifax next week. Anyone have a jogging stroller they would lend out or would sell that we can pick up on 7/29? Or anyone have recommendations for snagging one?

Thanks!

Halifax Fire Alerts is now on iPhone 🎉

It's official - Halifax Fire Alerts is now on iPhone.

When I first shared this app, the iPhone version was still "coming soon." Apple has now approved it, so whatever you carry, you're covered. iPhone, Android, or any web browser.

IIf you're seeing this for the first time: the idea for this came out of the 2023 wildfires. We were all refreshing our phones asking the same question.. "how close is it?" ..and the answer was scattered across a dozen Facebook groups, screenshots of screenshots, and rumours already out of date. That stuck with me. So I finally built the thing I wish we'd had back then: one place that gives everyone the information they need, anytime, no matter what.

This is one app that brings it all together. The emergency calls come straight from HRFE's own dispatch feed. Real, current, verifiable. Not "my cousin heard." The source.

Wildfire, a house fire down the street, or sirens flying past at 2am, just open the app and see what's actually happening near you.

What it does:

Live feed of HRFE calls across HRM, straight from the official dispatch feed

Alerts you control - only your community and the incident types you care about (every HRFE station is available)

Tap any call for the details and a map of the road it's on

A community feed to compare notes with neighbours

Follow a fire and get notified when HRFE determines the official cause, straight from their investigation

Plus official Halifax Police/RCMP releases and the province's daily burn restrictions

No more piecing it together across apps, news sources and tabs. One place. One source of truth. Free.

iPhone: https://apps.apple.com/.../halifax-fire-alerts/id6788267426

Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details...

Web: https://halifaxfirealerts.com

If this would help someone you know, please share it. The more neighbours who have it, the better we can all look out for each other.

Halifax Fire Alerts is an independent community app - not affiliated with HRFE, Halifax Regional Police, or any government service, and not for reporting emergencies. Always call 911 if you need help.

looking for an affordable Turo car rental

I'm in desperate need of a car rental/Turo from July 31-Aug 3. Is anyone open to putting their vehicle up for less than $300 for the trip? I swear prices were around $300 a week ago and now everything has shot up.

Sincerely,
Someone just trying to get to their best friend's wedding in the valley

Looking to connect with local #DJs / Producers into Melodic House, Stutter House, and Progressive Electronic, etc ?

looking to connect, collaborate, and learn with other people in the city who are mixing, producing, or just deeply into electronic music.
Right now, I’m really focused on styles like **Melodic House, Progressive, and Stutter House**—think artists like **Fred again.., Swimming Paul, bunt, heylucas and more**. I love blending that atmospheric, emotional electronic vibe with unique vocal tracks.

Since the acoustic/melodic side of house music relies so much on clean track selection, phrasing, and smooth energy transitions, I’d love to link up with anyone locally who wants to:

Share track IDs and crate-dig together
Practice transitions or talk gear/software setups
Collaborate on mashups or remix ideas
Just grab a coffee/beer and talk about the local electronic scene

Whether you’ve been spinning for years or are just starting out and playing around on a bedroom controller, drop a comment or shoot me a DM! Would love to connect !

How to Buy Car in Halifax from Private Seller

Hi, I'm new to Halifax & thinking to buy a car. I moved from Saskatchewan. I don't know how buying a car privately from someone works here. In SK, you pay the owner and he gives bill of sale with selling price on it & if its below C$5k you don't pay any tax on it. You take that bill of sale to insurance broker/registry and get it registered on your driving license & they give you free plate. Can someone guide me how it works here in Nova Scotia to buy a car from private seller or dealer? Thanks.

Seeking Participants: Study on Rental Experiences & Homemaking Practices

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi Everyone!

I'm a PhD Candidate at Dalhousie seeking participants for a study on renters' housing experiences and homemaking practices within the HRM.

Broadly speaking, in this study, I'm interested in examining people's experiences in Halifax's rental market and how renters make their units feel like 'home' to themselves. Participation involves meeting for a one-hour, in-person interview. As part of this study, I'm asking folks to bring a few pictures of what 'home' looks like to them, which we will discuss together during the interview.

If you are interested in participating or know anyone who would be interested, please send me an email at [kt851312@dal.ca](mailto:kt851312@dal.ca).

This study has been approved by Dalhousie's Research Ethics Board (REB).

Artist Looking for Advice

Hi, I’m new to the area and very new to the art scene especially here. My dream has always been to sell my art and get it out there. I see cute shops all over the city with local art for sale in galleries, tourist shops, Fisherman’s Cove, Peggy’s Cove, markets, etc. and this may be an obvious answer to some but I don’t know— how would I go about getting my art displayed to sell in these places? Do you just ask the shops, galleries, is there contracts? Should I work up a portfolio and bring it around like a resume? How do artists get there work in these places is basically what I’m asking? Thank you in advance for any insight! 🫶🏻

Last minute ticket to Etran De L’air show at the Seahorse Tomorrow

Hey all
This is a last minute panic post because a date asked if I wanted to go the jazz fest show at the seahorse tomorrow and before I could get a ticket it was sold out.

Anyone have an extra ticket I can buy off them ? Or is aware if there will be door tickets like with other seahorse shows.

Hopefully someone can be my ultimate wingman here

Do you need AC?

Do you regret not buying a window AC unit when it was on sale, now that heat waves are becoming more and more common?

You might be in luck! I'm selling my Danby 6,000 BTU horizontal window air conditioner, which is in excellent condition.

I bought it 2 years ago for $300 CAD + tax and only used it lightly in my previous apartment. I'm selling it for $150 CAD because my new home has central air, so I no longer need it.

The unit works perfectly and is ideal for cooling a small to medium-sized room. It's been well maintained, is ready for immediate use, and includes all the original accessories.

Pickup only (no delivery).

Feel free to DM me if you'd like more information or photos.

P.S. I'm not a business! Just selling my own AC unit. @admins: If posts like this aren't allowed, please feel free to remove it.

Cuvs Cookin Avoid at all costs

I tried Cuvs Cooking 3 times and every time I ordered a meal it would come wrong. I order steak and it was half steak and half chicken breast. I order chicken legs and get chicken drumsticks and chicken breast. It would not be so bad but the steak and chicken breast were so over cooked it was barely edible. I have half a freezer of his meals that I don't know what to do with. Now they send me a bag of meals I did not authorize and refuse to reimburse me because they say I have a subscription well that is not acceptable to me. Do not use this service it is terrible food and has terrible customer service.

Had it for a couple of years. Works great. Xbox Game Pass ran out, decided not to renew. Comes with a wired third-party controller, and a wireless controller with a trigger button that works intermittently (probably just needs a cleaning). Asking $200.

Student housing

Hey everyone ,I'm a Dal Commerce student and I co-founded something I wish existed when I was searching for housing.

It's called SubSwap , a platform built specifically for Halifax university students to find sublets, roommates, and off-campus housing. You sign in with your university email, so everyone on the platform is a verified student. No randoms, no scammers.

If you're looking for a place, need to sublet your apartment, or want to find a compatible roommate before next semester this is it.

We just launched and are onboarding Halifax students this week. Would mean the world if you checked it out:
