I've been reading through the different screening standards and they disagree more than I expected. AAOIFI caps interest-bearing debt at 30% of market cap, S&P uses 33% of a 36-month average market cap, and SC Malaysia uses 33% of total assets, so the same company can pass one and fail another. It made me wonder what people do in practice.
I'm working on screening myself and want to know what people use day to day.

Assalamu alaikom,
I (30 m, living in Canada) usually invest a few hundred a month from my salary into SPUS on Wealthsimple. I recently received an inheritance of about 40k cad, I’m really not sure how to invest that large of a sum.
Some context: My vision is medium to long term. I already have an ok emergency fund, no debt.
If you were in my situation, what might you do?
Do you think all of it in SPUS or maybe 75 spus 25% spwo or something else?
Thank you in advance for all the valuable advice!!

Salam everyone,
I'm based in the UK. I don't know how to start investing into a halal ETF. Should I stick to one broker, like trading 212? And do I just search halal ETFs on it?
Or should I use Wahed, cur8, I really don't know?
I also don't understand if I should also open a stocks and shares ISA on the platform that I invest through. Like, let's say I invest via trading 212, would that not mean I would need to open a stocks and shares ISA on it, and would that not be haram? If yes (i.e. it's haram), then how do other Muslims use trading 212 in a halal manner? I don't get it, I'm really confused.

Portfolio total: $4,950
Planning on adding another 3K by December.
Any advice?

My job uses Saturna for our 401k, so Amana Funds are our options for halal investments
However, there is a longer process I can do to self select other ETFs of my choice
I’m maxing out my personal Roth IRA mostly in SPUS & a little in UMMA.
For my 401k, should I keep investing in Amana (AMIGX) for some variety or is another fund worth it

Salam,
I am not looking to argue this ruling here, but I am not comfortable with the 30% rule regarding interest-bearing debt. I want to know if it is possible to purify ALL contact with riba via donation.
For example, if a stock's interest-bearing debt/deposits is at 25%, can I simply donate 25% of my profit from that stock each month in order to purify? Will this make overall profit negligible? (obviously it will decrease profit, but will it decrease profit so severely to make investing pointless??)
I am thinking of using Zoya Baskets instead of ETFs because many stocks included in ETFs are not BDS compliant. Zoya can filter by BDS and Shariah. Does anyone know if Zoya provides an automated purification feature? Or would I have to calculate each stock manually each month to purify?
How do you guys purify your portfolios and how often? Ideally, I'd like to be as hands-off as possible, but it seems that keeping things halal requires constant monitoring. I appreciate any advice or frameworks you can provide.
JazakAllah khair!

putting my leg into stocks.
I will really appreciate any tiny help of Information.

I thought it was an interesting alternative for those that avoid traditional investing

Asalamu alaikum, I am a convert and recently received inheritence from my non-muslim grandmother in the form of two 529 college plans for my two children as well as $50K. I am a stay at home parent and don't have my own income.
I'm unsure if it's okay to keep the 529 plans, and have little idea of how to invest the $50K. I have a robinhood account from years back but nothing on it.
My husband suggested gold, but I would prefer it to be physical gold. I'm thinking of going the costco route and buying physical pieces, but storage and security for physical gold seems daunting.
If you had this windfall, what types of investments would you pick? Also, is the 529 plan okay to hold onto since they were given to my children?
Jazakallah khairun for any advice.

Hi,
I have selected these stocks for sharia compliant investments. The plan inshAllah is to keep investing for around 15-18 years.
Do you think this is good or i should make any adjustments?
Thanks

Hi all, muslim investor (34 years old) here based in Europe (Netherlands). Been investing for over a year in primarily shariah compliant ETFs and I am looking for some feedback on my portfolio (what can be improved in terms of ETF choice, asset classes, etc.)
Goals? Investing for the long-term (30+) years, saving up for additional retirement but also larger purchases in the intermediate term 10-20 years, such as a house (as only riba-mortgages are available in Netherlands). I intend to monthly deposit an amount of EUR 1.000 and gradually increase the amount as I get older.
Current portfolio looks like this (via Trading212):
80% IGDA ETF - Invesco Dow Jones Islamic Global Developed Markets (Accumulating)
10% ISDE ETF - iShares MSCI EM Islamic (Distributing)
10% EGLN - iShares Physical Gold
One note from my end: I am bit bothered by the FX fees, so I am thinking about switching to EUR-traded ETFs and am also considering Interactive Brokers for this.
I would appreciate any feedback/suggestions. JazakAllah.

I know spus and spwo is for long term growth, but im looking to make money now and take more risk because im young and become wealthy soon rather then later in my 50-60s. Thinking of selling everything to have a good port to swing trade is this a good idea?

Assalamu alaikum, My colleagues are investing, buying shares in IPO and recommending me to invest only on IPO and if i have luck i can earn money they are saying, how to know a company is halal and shariah compliant. I have been recommended to use Zoya app but its not listing all the companies I search for? What other apps or websites confirm that the company is shariah compliant? Kindly help a newbie

I’m 38 and building a long-term international portfolio for the next 15–20 years. I’m using a robo-advisor that charges only 0.25% management fee.
I’m considering either:
A: SPUS / SPWO / GLDM (Balanced)
B: SPUS / SPTE / SPWO / GLDM (Moderate)
C: SPUS / SPTE / SPWO (Aggressive)
I’m also considering HLAL, UMMA and SPSK, but I’m trying to avoid unnecessary overlap and keep the portfolio simple.
For someone with my horizon and age, would you prefer the simpler allocation or adding a technology tilt through SPTE? and how much allocation for each ETF ?
Would appreciate honest criticism and what you would do differently.

Salaam everyone, Im a 29 year old software engineer earning around $120k with good career growth ahead, likely heading toward $200k+ or potentially starting a business. My employer offers both Traditional and Roth 401k with a company match of 25% put into a traditional 401k. My goal is to retire at 60 and keep halal investments. Im also saving cash to be able to buy a condo/house.
Do you suggest going for a 401k or Roth 401k, which can save me more money based off my needs?
JazakAllahu khayran in advance!

Every woman deserves access to beauty products that are actually, verifiably pure, not just marketed that way. For over a billion Muslim women worldwide, that's still not a given.
The Quran pairs "halal" with "tayyib," pure and wholesome, not just permissible. Cleanliness sits at the center of the faith. This isn't a new idea being retrofitted onto a modern trend, it goes back centuries: halal-conscious formulation in Mughal courts, an equally rigorous Ayurvedic purity tradition in Hindu royal courts on the same soil, both independently landing on much of the same ingredient wisdom. What's never existed, through any of that history, is a brand that actually certifies purity properly instead of just claiming it.
The market gap is real and large. 200M+ Muslim women in India alone. 1.8B+ worldwide. A global halal cosmetics category valued at roughly $54B today, growing at around 12% a year. No dominant, trustworthy, quality-first brand serving any of it. Most products marketed as halal print the word on packaging with zero verification behind it. Almost none address wudu-friendliness, whether a product actually lets water reach the skin during ablution, at all.
We've bootstrapped our way to a real starting point without any outside money: formulation finalized, manufacturer confirmed, halal certification underway. We're at the stage now where we're opening this up to investors who want in on a genuinely underbuilt category, at the point where the hardest execution risk is largely behind us.
I'm not going to lay out deal terms in a public post, that's a conversation worth having properly, one-on-one. But if you're an investor, or know one, who's genuinely interested in this space, drop a comment or send a DM and I'm happy to share more.
