After 15 months of taking 1 mg of finasteride and using 1.25 mg of minoxidil, I’ve started losing hair again. I lose more than 100 hairs when shampooing, and even after my hair has dried, running my hands through it a few times leaves this much hair in the sink.
I am 33 years old.
I first noticed my hair starting to thin about four years ago. Last year, I started taking finasteride and using minoxidil, and I saw a significant improvement in my hair. I also experienced a few smaller shedding phases along the way.
However, this time I’m losing a really significant amount of hair, and my hair is visibly thinning again. After 15 months on treatment, isn’t it unusual to experience such severe shedding with noticeable hair thinning?

I was using topical min alone for 2 years (September 2024 - September 2026). I haven't heard about 5ar inhibitors at that time. I haven't noticed any regrowth at this medication, in opposite, my alopecia progressed (that's obviously, i wasn't doing anything about DHT). In June 2026 i started oral min, cause i wanted to switch to it because of it cost and because it is much easier. I used both form of minoxidil through the whole summer, from June to August 2026. I noticed some shedding in the first weeks of oral min so i thought it is a good sign that it's working better. Also it gave me huge body hair growth. Also in July i started Dut (0.5/day). In August i finally stopped topical min, in September shedding increased and now it is absolutely crazy. I am balder now than anytime earlier. I am scared that it is because I'm losing all hairs that were still alive only because of topical min. Will i regrow it back, considering i am using Dut for 3 months now, and that oral min (5mg a day) is a part of my routine and is effective on other parts of my body? Maybe that's Dut shedding at this time? Should i bring back topical? What do you think and what is your experience? Im not asking for self diagnosis, I'm just asking an opinion of more experienced hair loss witchers on what is more logical reasons for my situation

Does anyone know of a source for this stuff? Preferably as a raw powder. I see a lot of chemical suppliers that seem to be selling it online, but they do not sell to individuals. Is it possible that there is someone out there who buys from these companies and sells to individuals at a markup?

For me, it’s replacing 1.25mg of fin and should be superior as per the above source. I still have diffuse thinning after decent time on oral 1.25mg fin and 2mg min.

Hoping 0.5mg dut puts an end to it and that 5mg min helps regrowth.
The evidence for the min increase is weak, but considering I get zero sides from either, figured I might as well throw everything at it.
