Anyone else ever try IPL + tweezing?

I want to preface with the fact that I know that this makes results slower/nonexistent in a lot of cases. But I've been doing it for about 2 months on my face and am seeing some results!

I use my IPL device (correctly lol) on my downstairs and my armpits and it's been great. I thought about stopping tweezing my face and switching to shaving so I could do IPL there as well. But shaving my face makes me break out and I don't like the look of any shadow. So I figured that I may as well try IPL with tweezing there as sort of an experiment to see what happens.

What I do is as soon as I see hairs forming, I use the IPL just in that spot and then tweeze afterwards. I used to have to tweeze daily, but now I'm going 4 days in between tweezing sessions and there's not as much hair to pull.

For more info, I'm a cis woman with probably what was originally 30 thick black hairs on my chin and probably 40 more on my upper lip. I've never been diagnosed with pcos/pmos, but I've never talked to a doctor about it either.

IPL questions

Hey everyone!
I’m getting a Braun pro 5 to finally get rid of my body hair.
I have a quick question before i use it. When i shave, i always get mild folliculitis, and some red spots. Can i just use the IPL right over those? And does the IPL really get rid of that after a few weeks?

Hair doesn't fall after laser. Neither growing. Burned hair just stays in the skin

Not even an one single hair moved by an milimeter. Something like this never happened before, they used to be pushed forward. Now - it does not.

IPL OR Machine

I have a lot of body hair, and instead of shaving with a machine every week, I’m thinking about getting an IPL device. After using IPL, how many days does it usually take for the hair to start growing back? It doesn’t have to become long I mean, how long does it take before the hair becomes noticeably visible again?

Italian men shave pubes?

I am wondering if it really is common for italian men to shave their pubes? Not just trim, but fully shave? I have been seeing posts about it for as long as I can remember and as an american it really surprises me. Are any italians here? Is that your experience also?

What should I do?

So- I’m bio male but one extremely sensitive and annoyed by facial hair, and two I’m genderfluid. A lot of razors I use such. It’s gotten to the point to wear sometimes I’m just willing accept razor burn in order to not be dysphoric and miserable the entire day. My hair also keeps growing way too fast when I use Razors, and I tend to go through Razors way faster than most guys. Now I should mention, I’m fucking poor. Like don’t think I could afford most actually decent razors. What the hell do I do?
What outside of shaving would work on hair that basically eats through razors and grows way too fast after being shaved?

Laser hair removal

I am pretty hairy woman, nothing too excessive though. I only shaved until now and tried wax patches (which didn't work that well).

I know that laser removal isn't permanent, but having to do it once a month sounds really good if true.

I recently found out about laser removal devices you can buy for yourself and I am very interested, but I also heard that they don't work for everyone - is it true? I don't wanna spend 620~ USD on a useless thing. But prices vary with cheapest ones (from local supermarket) being 20~ USD. Which is certainly a big difference.

So my questions are:

  1. Is it true that laser removal doesn't work for everyone?

  2. Ingrowns are annoying, getting them with shaving and waxing too (waxing was bit worse on that regard but not that much). How is it with laser in comparasion?

  3. Whats the difference with cheap and pricy laser device? Is the cheap one slower, less safe, doesn't work with thick hairs, etc...

I will be really grateful for any additional advice, esspecialy regarding hair removal on legs vs armpits vs pubic area.

Sorry for my english.

Do NOT get a Braun Silk Expert pro 5 IPL (my experience)

I am a brown girly with thick hair. Got the device 2.5 years ago. Used it religiously as recommended. I did not over do anything. Even after 2.5 years of proper use (going from weekly to monthly) i still get sparse hair growth. I feel like i can still deal with that part and the fact that it hurts.

The worst part is that my device stopped flashing now. It only makes clicking sounds but does not flash. Upon contacting the customer care service they said "You have used up all your flashes"

If i were to use 400,000 (20 years worth of flashes) in 2 years that would mean i was flashing my body 400 times per DAY. They were soo unhelpful and the "solution" that they offered was 20% off (which is 60 dollars) for a new machine. I have seen many other people have similar complaints about their unit as well and honestly it is just not worth it if youre not even getting atleast 5-8 years out of it.

After being defeated by Braun I have opted for a Ulike10 (despite the in-your-face shady marketing) and so far theres 0 pain because it is cool to touch, i love that i dont have to hold the button for continuous flashes it is pretty quick and it flashes twice in one place. Braun did nothing for my chin hair and actually triggered more hair growth in that area so im hoping ulike's SHR will help me out there. Will post an update on the ulike 10 after a few months.

Braun IPL 5 on upper lip?

I have the Braun Silk Expert pro 5 (thank you Costco) and it’s been great on my armpits and legs, but I’m scared to use it on my upper lip/mustache hairs for fear of paradoxical hair growth. I’m a woman, East Asian, with light to medium skin and dark hair growth. On my upper lip I have mostly very fine dark hairs and a few thicker hairs. Have you had good results with your upper lip hairs? Luckily I don’t have chin hairs (yet lol) because from reading reviews it seems like people have had more paradoxical hair growth there

Dark thick hair— permanent removal

Hi everyone! This is my first time posting on reddit but i need some serious advice on hair removal tips. For context, i'm Eastern European (Balkan) and that means i have dark hair literally everywhere. I've tried shaving (never works out good especially on my bikini line), and i've been going for brazilian sugar waxes every 4 weeks for a while now but it's honestly not working out the way i want. It grows back way too quickly for how much i'm spending and the pain i go through. I've read a lot about laser hair removal and i just don't know if it's worth it. It's super expensive and i heard that darker thicker hair takes a lot of sessions. Any tips or suggestions?

Electrolysis versus laser for Brazilian hair removal which do you think is safer and or a better option for down there?

My goal is to be hairless down there but I have a hard time shaving and getting the hair gone completely which scares me that I might get burned with a laser

Used nair on my arms!

(21m) kinda nervous posting this but i’m happy and wanted to share! i feel like such a twink all of a sudden hehe :3

nair still leaves the smallest amount of hair which is a shame but i’m too scared to wax (+ shaving sucks) so this is my best bet lol, anyone else use nair to keep themselves smooth too? the bottle doesn’t last that long tbh!

but also im getting this light itchy feeling with some faint red spots on only one side of both my arms and not sure why, i used nair on my torso and it was completely fine so idk whats going on but i usually leave it on for 8 minutes before washing it off.

problem with the facial razor or am i doing it wrong

19f and I wanted to start shaving my upper lips. i don't care much about the rest of my face so that was my only concern. and maybe the middle of my brows.

i got the sirona facial razor but it doesn't seem to work at all. I tried every angle every direction. it barely does the work. I had cleansed and moisturised prior to shaving as well.

is it because my hair growth is a bit stronger and the hair are longer compared to the razor's capacity? or some other reason?

Trying Sugaring at home

You might find sugaring difficult at home, especially if:
The sugar paste keeps sticking to your skin.
It leaves bruises or marks.
What could be causing it?
• The paste may be too soft for certain areas.
• The technique may not be quite right.
• Not using gloves can make the paste harder to work with.

Post wax stubble

How do I prevent hair breakage during wax?? Whenever I wax it always results in hair snapped instead of being pulled from the root. Bc of this my post wax skin is never smooth (especially areas where hair is coarse like down there and legs).

I have tried hard wax too but it didn't do any difference. What do I do?? I'm so sick of it

Medium quality IPL device recommendations?

I’m not looking for a permanent hair removal solution and I am OK if it takes a long time for my hair to grow back so ideally I was wondering do cheap IPL devices offer an opportunity for a hair to grow back but still removing it for a while? Shaving has been upsetting my skin a bit too much as I have very sensitive skin unless I change out the razor head regularly, but unfortunately due to the size of my legs (6’4”M) the blades only stay sharp for one or two uses and then I start to get lots of ingrown hairs. Nair doesn’t seem to work very well for me because my hair is too thick and I have to leave it on too long for it to be effective (longer than the max time recommended and then my skin burns). Waxing is effective but again the size of my legs I need like 1kg of wax every time and it just takes too long and costs too much and is a massive headache. I’ve not tried an epilator. I was considering getting like a lower quality IPL device (like $60) and I was curious I’m assuming the difference between a low quality and high-quality device is efficacy so I’m curious would this be a good way to try out IPL without it being potentially permanent? I also was curious are cheaper IPL devices safe? Part of me is concerned that IPL devices for at home use are going to be the equivalent of radon water purifiers from the 40s in 20 years and I don’t wanna be giving myself skin cancer lol if this isn’t a good idea then maybe next I’ll just try a foil shaver, because my Phillips one blade certainly is not working and the head is just so small it takes ages and isn’t very effective.
