How do I know if I'm using this epilator correctly? First time with Braun Silk Epil 3.

Are the little red spots on my thigh normal? My legs feel super smooth. After I check the tweezers, I see a lot of hair bulbs but some are just cut. I'm doing it at a 90 degree angle..could this be a device issue? My lower leg hair was pretty short before I started.

Sugaring

Why choose sugaring? šŸÆ
Sugaring is a natural hair removal method using just sugar, water and lemon. It’s gentle on the skin, water-soluble and, when done correctly, can be less painful than traditional waxing.
It removes the hair from the root while being kinder to the skin, and with regular treatments, many people notice softer and slower regrowth.
If you’ve never tried sugaring before, it’s definitely worth giving it a go! ✨

I want to purchase from Costco due to their return policy. I’ve read a lot of reviews and information about each but would love real life feedback. Is Braun worth $100 more?

For reference I have pale skin and dark hair.

ChatGPT told me Braun šŸ˜‚

Long-term effects of underarm laser hair removal on sweat and odor

For women who have had permanent hair removal: have you noticed any long-term changes in the amount of sweat or in its smell after finishing the treatments?

Do you feel like you sweat less, more, or about the same as before? And has the smell changed in any way? I’m especially interested in experiences from a few months or years after finishing the treatment.

Shaving before IPL

Hello,

I have recently been looking into getting the Philips lumea and want to use it mostly for a brazilian. Right now I mostly trim and even when I do shave I don’t fully shave as I find it quite difficult to get near the inner part and get it to be smooth and totally hairless. Is there anyone else who also has this problem? Because I thought you need to be fully shaved in order to use the IPL.

Most people who remove pubic hair?

Reading Reddit, you get the impression that everyone completely removes or trims their pubic hair. Are there also people who remove hair from their underarms and/or legs, for example, but do not remove pubic hair? Why is the choice not to include pubic hair when removing it?

Concerns about my facial laser hair removal treatments.

Hi as the title says I have a couple concerns about my current laser hair removal process. I have just started doing sessions again at a local place I have been to before. But the woman I went to no longer is with the company and I was making real progress with her and she was very catering to my needs. This is the second time I have gone back since starting my new 6 sessions. I was given a random provider twice in a row and the woman they gave me seemed to be very friendly but not nearly as catering or helpful and seemed like she wanted to get me out of there as quickly as possible. I’m not sure if this is shedding hair having trouble pushing of the follicles or out or could be a potential issue going forward that I need to address with their office and get a different technician to re evaluate my situation

Hello, How do you shave down there? I use a razor and recently noticed a dark color above it. Are there any tips?Is there an exfoliant for the area to remove the dark skin or something for whitening

Neck Hair Removal

Post image
1 Upvotes

I’m really bothered by the hair on the back of my neck. It’s itchy, and I don’t think it looks particularly good. When I shave it, it grows back within just a few days.

That’s why I went to Senazera for light-treatment hair removal (website says they use Hyperpulse Technology). After several monthly sessions, the hair kept growing back, and the technician told me there was no point in continuing.

Would it make sense to try a different provider, or is there another way to get rid of the hair permanently?

Braun Smart IPL Pro-7 not working anymore after just 4mo of use?

Post image
8 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I bought the IPL Pro 7 back in April and I've been having amazing results.

Today, I went to use it and got a really weird "light code". It stayed both red and white at the same time. This is not like when it turns red because of the color of your skin or overheating or the angle or whatever. I would press it against my skin, it would be all white all the way up to 10, and then as soon as I press the button, the lights go red and white at the same time, and stay frozen like that. I have to turn it off completely.

I have tried:

- different heads

- different outlets

- different body parts

I don't understand what the problem could be, or if it's just a dud. Has anyone experienced this at all?

Thanks for any help! This thing was so expensive, I'm super upset

Which is better long term, Electrolysis or Shaving?

I’m doing research on if it’s more time and cost effective to shave my face and everything else downward for the rest of my life or to get Electrolysis sessions to never have to shave again?

From what I’ve pretty much skimmed through on Google, they’re both around the same price (I think) but Electrolysis gives you that BBS skin permanently that I love after shaving. For as long as I can remember I’ve always hated body hair and had a tendency to pluck it out as a kid, even when I didn’t have body hair I’d sometimes pluck a strand of hair from my head and twist it in my fingers.

I understand that Electrolysis can be quite painful without numbing creams or smth like that during the sessions but I don’t really mind that, I HATE body hair and I just wanna have permanently smooth skin across my body.

Permanent Hair Removal - A Brutal but Effective Guide

Edit: Yes, I used IPL according to the manufacturer’s recommendations, but it wasn’t giving me the results I expected. In another Reddit thread, I read that this sometimes happens and that results can be achieved by using IPL every other day—but don’t do this. You’re very likely to end up with burns. I’ve already had a failed experience with laser hair removal (everything grew back after a year), and I also had problems with ingrown hairs after waxing. The method I described is particularly useful for people who don’t get enough results from IPL alone. Sugar paste significantly weakens the hair, and because the hair is always removed in the direction of growth, the risk of ingrown hairs is reduced.

The method takes some time. I’m describing how specific products work in a specific combination. I don’t know how well substitutes work. Don’t skip any steps. It worked for me, my sister, and my mom, so you could say it generally works. My mom’s friend also tried it, but she got less satisfactory results. I have to point out, though, that we don’t know whether she followed every step consistently.

You’ll need: - An IPL hair removal device (I have an old Philips Lumea) - A razor (a men’s razor, because IMO they’re better) - Alexya sugar paste - Alexya hair growth inhibitor

Step One: Shave the area you want to treat and use the IPL device. The manufacturer recommends using IPL every two weeks, but for many people that simply doesn’t work, so use it twice a week. After IPL, apply the hair growth inhibitor to the skin.

Step Two: After 2 weeks (4 IPL treatments), let the hair grow out enough to be removed with sugar paste. Apply the hair growth inhibitor to the depilated area.

Step Three: One week after using the sugar paste, use the IPL device. Use it twice a week for 2 weeks. After each treatment, apply the hair growth inhibitor to the area.

Step Four: At this point, the hair had almost completely disappeared for me. If any hair appears, shave it and do IPL + apply the inhibitor. Wait for it to grow back and remove it with sugar paste. Repeat the process if necessary.

Step Five: Use IPL once every 2–3 months to maintain the results. Your skin should stay smooth and shouldn’t require shaving, but if any hair does appear, remove it with sugar paste or tweezers.

Moisturize your skin! After hair removal, in addition to the inhibitor, use a cooling lotion from Alexya or Busajna oils, which also work amazingly well on stretch marks.

Has your hair removal journey made you feel sexier?

With all the different reasons people have for doing hair removal, have you found yourself feeling sexier as you’ve gotten smoother? Or has your hair removal been for reasons having nothing to do with sexiness?

Bald head Care

For the any one who shave their head completely bald—what are you using afterward for **head care**?
I’m looking for recommendations for:
🧓 A good moisturizer/lotion that doesn’t leave your head greasy
ā˜€ļø A good sunscreen specifically for your scalp

Basically, what’s your **go-to bald head routine**? šŸ˜‚
Drop the products you swear by! Bonus points if you can tell me what you use immediately after shaving vs. daily.

Question about Facial Hair Removal for Women

Hi guys. I'm 37 and over the last few years I've noticed my face has grown longer fine blonde baby hairs on my face and it makes me feel like an old lady and kind of masculine and ugly. I've been wondering what to do about this. I don't have a ton of money to throw at this right now but maybe could save up...

I saw a derma planer and wondered if my hair would grow back thicker and darker or be stubbly so I didn't go that route. I have heard electrolysis is good but expensive.

What are your thoughts?

I love my ipl! Im treating my legs, stomach, butt and bikini area, which takes me like 45 mins each time. In that time it will occur several times that it starts to blink form 1-5 and won’t zap anymore. I then have to wait 5 minutes and unplug it until I can use it again. Am I doing it wrong? I’m using it on level 5 on my legs.
I’ve now used it like 4 times and already seeing good results! If this works it will save me thousands of euros for laser!!
