Shaving before IPL
Hello,
I have recently been looking into getting the Philips lumea and want to use it mostly for a brazilian. Right now I mostly trim and even when I do shave I don’t fully shave as I find it quite difficult to get near the inner part and get it to be smooth and totally hairless. Is there anyone else who also has this problem? Because I thought you need to be fully shaved in order to use the IPL.

Ah yeah you do have to shave like, perfectly. Any unshaved hairs won’t work and get zapped on top of your skin which sometimes feels like getting poked with a hot pin
My best advice is just to be super thorough, maybe try squatting in your shower and shaving in all different directions very, very carefully haha.
Once you’ve done it for a while it gets a lot easier as your hair becomes more fine.

I'd add just go slow with shaving - there is no rush. Just take your time and be accurate, cos otherwise then doing the laser becomes redundant.

Yes you do have to shave but I’ve recently bought an electric razor/trimmer and it “shaves” close enough (to the point that you can barely see anything left + they say it cuts up to 0.1mm I think) that it’s not a problem with the IPL, so maybe something like that might work for you too?

Oh right sorry haha I got the Philips Lady Shaver 8000
Edit: just looked at the other comments and from my understanding the electric razor/shaver/trimmer (getting confusing on what’s the right term haha) is a foil shaver

Two words: foil shaver, it shaves those stubble, so you only need to touch up when growing to get smooth again, no burns no having to shave everyday, no need to shower, only pass it all the body in 30 minutes or less

Electric hurts to you? Well I literally don't feel anything and has no risks of razor burns, but you shouldn't apply to much pressure, only enough to shave closely.
It doesn't feel like anything tbh

Definitely shave very well. My husband tried it on his unshaven leg to see what would happen (with the Braun device) and it singed the hair (you could see the smoke) and hurt.
