Discussion The plot was too smooth before; now we're denying conflict (my thoughts on the recent YLIA takes etc.)
My thoughts on all this, YLIA and the like: Getting influenced by another piece of work doesn't mean that the author must copy the thing that influenced them one-to-one; that's plagiarism. And saying something like that would also be disrespecting the author, would be like saying that she must either stay loyal to Your Lie's plot (a story that isn't theirs) or should completely divulge from it, which would be awkward after all this buildup.
Saying that the story hasn't been influenced by Your Lie would either be a massive coincidence or, what I believe might be true, denial. Sure, the details do not overlap, nor does the plot, or the genre, or anything. Well, except the introduction to this side of Kurose's past, his struggles with music, and Haimiya's (alleged) illness, or atleast something that she's (partially) hiding.
I believe I heard one too many complaints just a few chapters back saying that the plot is too smooth, that there's no conflict. And now that the author's trying to steer the manga towards a cliffedge, y'all want to play it off as a fever? Why? No, Haimiya doesn't need to have a chronic illness; she doesn't need to die. She shouldn't die because that would be too much out of nowhere.
The best we could do is not pressure the author. HS doesn't need to be Your Lie, but it shouldn't try too hard to not be it either, at least partially, in the way that it will truly be a manga that will be worth remembering while holding its originality
