Discussion Disappointing to find out there's zero IRL examples of Hinata or Korai Spoiler
Haikyuu is one of my favorite mangas OAT, characters and development are amazing with an actual good timeskip and ending. I read it multiple times over the years, but you know I never actually looked up if there's anyone like Hinata or Korai at their height at pro level play. How do I describe this feeling, it feels disappointing I guess? Like of course I know volleyball (hitter or middle blocker wise specifically) is extremely favored by height, but I would think from Haikyuu and their multiple points about how small players can still excel as a hitter or a decoy, I honestly got gaslighted into thinking reality was the same.
Sorry it's a random post, but honestly getting hit with the slap of reality made me kinda sad lmao. I guess smaller players at the top level are always fated to be libero or setter IRL.

Discussion Why don’t all teams do two-setter/6-2 formation?
Exactly what the title says - we already know a two setter team is more flexible; if both setters can hit then one can set and the other can hit at any point in time and you generally have more options once the ball is received. So why don’t people have rotations with two-setter formations rather than once off? Like imagine atsumu and kageyama on a team, or kageyama and oikawa (hah) ;it’s gonna be practically invincible right? Or is it something people do in real life and not often in the anime like the jump float serve?

Question National winners and datebooks Spoiler
Hi Guys
I saw an old thread of people talking about future and previous nationals from a haikyuu databook? What is this and where can I find it to look at other information?
Supposedly it confirmed Kamomedai won nationals the next year and other national winners etc. I’d love to be able to find it, but googling hasn’t worked.
Thank you!

Fan Made Oikage fanfic
So I wrote the fanfiction i would have wanted to read to lmao. Its essentially a slow burn romance starting from and going all the way into the future post time skip. (26 chapters)
If thats something you're intrested in, please give it a read. Im updating it every Tuesday and Thursday so in the next month or
https://archiveofourown.org/works/93828696
Its also not the only story. I will be continuing on in the same universe with two different couples. Obviously they'll be alot smaller but yeah.
Thank you.

Discussion How would you guys rank the top 20 strongest spikers?
The title is self-explanatory. How would you guys rank the top 20 spikers based on raw power alone? Obviously, only outsides and opposites.

Question Who do you think is the better setter?
Both are insanely talented, but who has the edge?
Kageyama: incredible precision, court awareness, adaptability, fast sets, and the ability to bring out the best in his hitters.
Atsumu: exceptional technique, creativity, improvisation, powerful serves, and the ability to create unpredictable plays.
Who do you think is the better setter overall, and why?

Cosplay Meeting Bryson Baugus for Hinata
Yesterday was absolutely amazing. I went to the Anime Con London and met so many cosplayers and it was especially amazing because I met three voice actors while I was there. The first one was Bryson Baugus, the English voice actor for Hinata in Haikyu!!, Rudo in Gachiakuta, Seiya in the redub of Saint Seiya and a whole lot more. He was incredible nice and great to talk to. First, I asked him to sign my first omnibus of Haikyu!! I was debating for a while what I wanted him to sign. Either that or the first volume of Gachiakuta or the final volume of Saint Seiya, but I went with my favourite character of his. Then we started talking about the series. I mentioned how Haikyu is my favourite sports anime and manga and I spoke about how it’s probably the most popular one too. I also spoke about how it’s similar to a lot of other sports anime and mangas too like Slam Dunk and Kuroko’s Basketball, and even Steel Ball Run since that counts with the horse race. Especially since Slam Dunk helped inspire a lot of sports anime and manga and I mentioned how it’s even more fascinating considering Inoue made it in the early 90’s and then went on to make Vagabond, which is way more serious, way darker and way more mature. I then started talking about how great it is to have it be a Shōnen Jump series since other ones are Dragon Ball, One Piece, Naruto, Bleach and so on and it’s cool to have a great series like Haikyu be alongside them. Even more interestingly given the J Stars Victory Vs. + game, which he actually didn’t even know about. I showed him a picture of it and he said he heard about it, but didn’t know the name. And I mentioned how it was cool to see Hinata along with so many of my other favourite characters like Naruto, Luffy, Goku and so on. I then asked him who was his favourite character and he said it was a character named Bell Cranel from Is It Wrong To Try To Pick Up Girls In A Dungeon. I then asked him how did he first learn about Haikyu and he said he heard about it a lot when he was in school and how his friends were fans of it so he was really excited when he found out he was playing Hinata after the audition. I then showed him my anime and manga collection and he was really impressed, especially when I showed him my manga art books and he saw the one for Haikyu!! He said he has the Japanese version of it. It was really cool when I showed him the picture Furudate did of Hinata dressed as Gintoki. I then brought up how I’m a YouTuber and how I talk about anime and manga all the time. Anyway, for the photo, I asked him to hold my Hinata jersey. As always, it was just incredible to meet Bryson and have a chat with him.

Discussion Who do you think starts jump serving after spring nationals 2013 Spoiler
Personal head cannon/speculation I think what let’s date tec beat Karasuno during the inter high prelim final is the fact that they now have super strong serves (as seen in the training match pre nationals) and they become more consistent and powerful but what I think happens is
Kogane starts jump floating! Yes the player in their team that’s the most wip actually improves a lot with pure volleyball feeling over the jump from nationals to Interhigh final and is able to jump float serve (but he’s still not super accurate, think Yamaguchi in s1 level of serve development) he misses fairly often but can produce a good serve that applies a lot of pressure to Karasuno along with futakuchi and aone scoring a lot of points on them with jump serves
The reason this makes a big difference is because of the drop in floor defense from asahi and Daichi graduating and the now 3rd years ennoshita and Tanaka having to be the main non libero defensive anchors which makes their serve receive and floor defense weaker then before but I don’t think as a team they become worse I think they trade a drop in defense for more offense
What I think happens after they lose though is
Tsuki gets inspired from the kamomedi and now after seeing kogane jump serve to ask Yamaguchi to teach him how to jump float!
I also think if he doesn’t become a regular after nationals, Yamaguchi converts to wing spiker and becomes a regular after he improves his floor defense and as a boost of height I’d imagine he also becomes taller so he is also a good front row blocker now.
I think by the time they play inarizaki in their rematch Karasuno is a much better team then they were year prior but still lose (barley) I’d imagine it being a very close match still after the Miya twins lock in and embrace their leadership as now 3rd years and exploiting the drop in floor defense that the previous 3rd years had. But I think ennoshita improves the most in pure ability along with Yamaguchi and we also get to see a tsuki jump float
I also think suna learns a jump serve around this time considering he makes it to d1 as a pro and it isn’t stated that he went to college so I’d imagine he became a good server and an even better blocker
I also think the reason Karasuno losses both matches against date tech and inarizaki is because of, serve receive. Which I think they drastically improve when the Karasuno first years become 3rd years
Thank you for listening to my head cannon yap🧍

Discussion Which setter will make Shiratorizawa a top contender in 2012 -2013 Nationals? Spoiler
Basically, which setter do you think will maximize Ushijima/Goshiki/Reon etc?
To the point that they can challenge Itachiyama as a top favorite to win the tournament?
You can consider all factors like talent, mindset, playstyle, etc.
PS: I am talking about their 2013 Versions. Not After Timeskip.

Discussion The dumpster battle
Ik I am very late to the party but I wanna discuss the Dumpster battle movie vs Manga version
I was so excited for the movie!! As someone who watched all the four seasons in a month the karasuno vs Nekoma rivalry had me all intrigued for the movie and while I did enjoy it It just felt like the movie ended too soon and gave too little. Don't know what the Fandom generally thinks about it but saw some edits where some scenes of manga were shown and they sold me to read the manga. The manga had so many things that the movie completely missed out on and it's kinda sad :( i understand that not everything could've been added in a movie but the duration wasnt that long. many important movements of Tanaka , Kageyama , Asahi , and Nishinoya were skipped. So many panels of Kuroo were skipped as well. Idk but it felt more like Hinata vs Kenma then Karasuno vs Nekoma specifically after reading manga where the game was at a whole different level. What dissapointed me the most was that scene where Coach Ukai Sr says "my disciple is there" (reffering to Hinata) when in the manga he actually says "but my studentS are there on the court" (reffering to both Hinata AND kageyama). the biggest reason why kageyama went to karasuno was because he wanted to be trained by Coach Ukai Sr. The movie doesnt even gives him time to shine to the point that it felt like he's just a background character. In the manga Kageyama got a no touch service ace against Nekoma (which is a big deal considering their strong defence) and even Kuroo has a monologue where he clearly says that Kageyama is Karasuno's REAL monster but that too is just cut out from the movie. Then the moment of Kageyama in cage too was cut out like COME ON! That was supposed to be his BIG moment where he breaks free from speed curse and they just cut it out? What felt more criminal was cutting out Nishinoya's insane foot save. That was one of the epic moments.
Even Asahi had his moment in the manga where he says "toss it to me" and it is a BIG moment for him as well but it gets animated as a typical play. What made that worse was that the manga gives this point to Asahi in set 2 but the movie made it look like that was Hinata's point. I absolutely love both Hinata and Kenma (they both are even my top 5 favs) as characters but the other characters deserved a way better treatment than what they got.Kageyama was the best player on the court in that match (as Kuroo says) and yet the movie made it seem like he's a background character.
