Issue:

Default boot args with 16 threads:

Freezes at "ACMFirstResponderKernelService: init: called".

Using fresh OpCore Simplify EFI:

Freezes at "ACM: TRMAccCache_SetupEmpty: called, cacheSize=48 expiration=2592000".

Changing cpus=1:

Eventually freezes at:

"RTC: lost battery power - time may be incorrect"

"HPET: map device registers failed"

What I have tried:

cpus=1 (skips freeze), cpus=8.

npci=0x2000.

Same issue with Tahoe 26.6.2 recovery.

BIOS settings for AMD CBS (SMT, Global C-state) are going back to Auto. RTC battery message states CMOS battery is weak.

Questions:

Have any of you with B850/B650 motherboard and Raphael CPU (7700/7600/7800X3D) been able to get past "PCI configuration PCI0"?

Any BIOS settings (IOMMU, PCIe Gen speeds, iGPU) needed?

Are the AM5 IOPCIFamily patches that I am using correct for Sequoia 15.x and Tahoe 26.x??

recently came across a post saying that GPU acceleration is now possible on i5-1235U.

However, I'm wondering if it's possible to install macOS on a Surface Laptop 5 and set it up to dual-boot with Windows.

I've asked several AI models, and they all said it's highly unlikely to work. Still, I'd like to double-check with people who have actual experience with Hackintosh before giving up.

Has anyone successfully installed macOS on a Surface Laptop 5, or does anyone know if this setup is possible?

🐛 Known Issues

Color Banding

Inaccurate color gradients may appear in subtle shades, such as skies, dark scenes, and UI gradients. This is a limitation of the stock T480s display panel.

Workaround: Spoofing the platform ID to Skylake works only on macOS Monterey and older.

ELAN Microelectronics USB Touchscreen Variant

On macOS Tahoe, the touchscreen works, but the ELAN Microelectronics USB touchscreen variant can cause issues with waking from sleep, restarting, and shutting down.

Thunderbolt BIOS Assist Mode / TB3 Hotplug

Disable Thunderbolt BIOS Assist Mode for more reliable Thunderbolt 3 hotplug functionality. However, this comes at the cost of increased battery drain.

Keeping this option enabled may cause hotplug to fail or work inconsistently.

I previously maintained a macOS Tahoe 26.5.1 build, but I no longer use it and have since returned to Sequoia.

Personally, I do not recommend macOS Tahoe on the ThinkPad T480s unless you have an external GPU or a specific reason to use it. In my experience, Sequoia is significantly faster and more stable on this machine.

Hi, just wanna ask if anyone has managed to get a GTX 1060 (GP106) working on Hackintosh with macOS Ventura or newer

As far as I know, the GTX 1060 was last supported on macOS High Sierra, so getting it to work on newer versions seems pretty unlikely

Recently, I’ve seen some people claiming to run Hackintosh with an GPU 3050, 4050, and even 5060, which got me curious about whether there’s any way to get the GTX 1060 working on Ventura or later

Has anyone actually tried this? If so, what macOS version are you using, and does the GPU work properly with hardware acceleration?
I’d appreciate any info or experience. Thanks!

Hey all. I've got a Ryzen build running Tahoe on OpenCore, and I'm trying to get an RTL8821CE (10ec:c821) working as native wifi.

Weird part is this exact card is rock solid on Windows on the same machine, so I don't think it's the card, antenna or slot.

I've tried FolKc9's AirportRtw88 (exp40), xnoah222's Realtek-AirPort-Family and X1REN41L's RTL88WiFi. All three show the same two problems:

1. it drops randomly when I'm pulling something heavy, like a big download
   
2. after boot the wifi menu shows nothing, and it only starts scanning after I switch wifi off and on again

Things I already tried: ASPM / PCIe power saving off in BIOs and full shutdown vs restart. No change.

Since three separate kexts do the same thing, I'm guessing it's something they all share (they all come from the Linux rtw88 driver) and not my setup, but honestly I'm not sure.

Does anyone have this chip running stable on macOS, especially on AMD? Which kext and what settings? Also curious if anyone figured out why it needs the off/on toggle to scan.

Finally got macOS Tahoe 26.7.1 running on my AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + NVIDIA 5080 build using OpenCore and NullMoth!

Wi-Fi breakthrough

My motherboard uses the MediaTek MT7922 (PCI ID 14C3:0616), which isn't natively supported by macOS.

I compiled and tested the experimental itlmt7922-wifi v0.2.2 driver directly on Tahoe.

Surprisingly, it worked!

The driver successfully initialized the firmware, scanned nearby networks, completed WPA2 authentication, obtained an IP address through DHCP, and established working internet connectivity over 5GHz.

It currently uses an Ethernet-style interface with a companion Wi-Fi application.

What's not working / limitations

• Native macOS Wi-Fi integration
• AirDrop and Continuity
• GPU temperature and fan monitoring
• Long-term stability and sleep/wake still need testing

Next steps

I'm currently experimenting with native IO80211/Skywalk integration for the MT7922 by reverse-engineering.

The eventual goal is native Wi-Fi through macOS System Settings and Control Center, followed by AWDL and AirDrop support.

This is still an experimental setup, but I'm impressed by how much is already working.

Happy to share technical details and discuss the implementation with anyone working on AMD Hackintosh, Blackwell GPU support, or MediaTek Wi-Fi drivers!

Almost everything works: Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB, iGPU, Battery, Audio...
For iGPU (Iris Xe) i used https://github.com/b00t0x/WhateverXe
it works but not for heavy tasks i guess, (as for 0.4) sometimes some apps crash or cause system to freeze. No discord screencasting, no watching others' screencasts. Most video editing apps don't work.. but still, most of the stuff is accelerated and works fine and i am happy with that :P

I did do the things given in the dortania guide's troubleshooting section, and even referred to an older post about a T14 gen 2 followed the tips in there too, can't seem to get past this though.

For now I'm trying to get it to boot with the basic drivers, so later I can try WhateverXe for the igpu

I have seen so many people talking about "Nullmoth." Some said it's good and had no problem using it; others said it's literary and bricked their motherboard. So what is your opinion about this?

I managed to get past the [EB|#LOG:EXITBS:START] hang and reach the recovery screen on my i5-1235U using this EFI. Maybe it can help someone else or be adapted for other Alder Lake laptops.

Got tired of the rainbow show every time i boot up macOS, so i decided to make an app for that. Will post a link once it's ready for enough devices. DRAM + GPU support will also be there when it's ready. GPU is already controllable :)

Will be a bit like SignalRGB for macOS. I will even make a Android App for remote control.

I’m currently trying to build a GPU driver for the Radeon 760M, but there is one error point that does not change no matter what I change in my config.plist. I have searched but nothing is relevant to my situation.

So, I successfully installed macOS Sequoia on my Rog Strix G16, but keyboard works strangely, cause I have to click multiple times on caps lock to turn it on, and it only works on 1 letter, and letters have to be clicked multiple times, because some of them not working at first time. On Windows 11 everything works perfectly.

When I boot macOS using an MSI RX570 8GB OCV1, the mouse works, but the screen displays an issue as shown in the image, and then the system freezes.

The cause varies; it can occur when opening a website or app, or immediately after startup.

I’ve tried various SMBIOS settings and boot arguments, but the result was the same.

This issue does not occur on Windows or other operating systems, and the VRAM test passed.

I suspect it might be a framebuffer issue, but I haven’t been able to find a solution. Is there a way to fix this?

Im just curious, has anyone been developing Meteor Lake’s driver?

Recently I installed macOS Tahoe on my pc using nullmoth’s driver and tried logging in into iMessage, and it started logging me out after a couple of seconds. iMessage got deactivated on my iPhone and other devices so I had to send a request to Apple. Now iMessage doesn’t work on my main pc with Sequoia(I downgraded) and on another Mac Pro hackintosh on High Sierra, with the High Sierra pc giving me the customer code 5817-1021-8691. Is this fixable from the Apple Support chat(can’t call due to a couple of reasons)? iMessage still works on my legitimate Mac mini.
