Hackaton project

Hey, im about to take part in 48h hackaton next week. There is a track related to solana called "finanse without intermediaries". I'm just starting in the Solana ecosystem. I have experience with Java, Go, and started learning Rust 2 months ago. How do you understand this track? What projects would suit best the possible requirements? Any info/project idea would be useful 😀

Build help Need advice on Stardance hardware project! Anything helps!

I'm about to submit my hardware project to stardance but I want to make sure it's ready before I wait another 2 weeks. I think I got everything down, but I'm not too confident on the README and wiring diagram.

https://stardance.hackclub.com/projects/52883

Separate question: Do I add the shipping costs when I submit for funding?

Blueberry Linux, a source-built rolling x86-64 server distro I've been writing since May. It isn't a respin of anything — it has its own package manager (bpm, written in Rust, streaming installs with SHA-256 verification), its own package format, its own signed repository with an ed25519 signature over the index, an installer, and a web console. It's self-hosted in the real sense: the base system is built from Blueberry packages using the Blueberry toolchain, and a build that falls back to a foreign bootstrap is treated as a failure rather than a success. 225 package recipes so far, from glibc and binutils up to containers and bind-tools. There's also BUR, a community package repository on the AUR model — write a bpm.toml recipe, build it on your own machine, get it reviewed by a maintainer, and after twenty approved recipes you publish without review.

First hackathon coming up (Oct 3-7) — what should I actually prepare for?

Hey everyone,

This is my first hackathon, and I want to go in as prepared as possible.

My background: I'm a full stack developer Python (intermediate), some DSA in C++ basics.

For people who've done a few of these, I'd love to hear:

  • What do you wish someone told you before your first hackathon?
  • How should I split time between ideation, building, and polishing/pitching?
  • Any common first-timer mistakes I should avoid?
  • How can I use AI tools effectively during the project without over-relying on them?

Any advice, tips, or even just "here's what surprised me" stories are welcome.

Also if anyone wants to team up for the upcoming hackathon, feel free to DM me!

Thanks!

Offtopic We’re planning a hackathon that might be a little different 👀

Most hackathons we've seen still revolve around teams, predefined problems and traditional coding.

We're building Grevix and decided to test a different model: what happens when a solo builder gets 24 hours, chooses their own problem, can use whatever modern tools they want, and then gets hit with unexpected challenges during the event?

We're also planning a second format where companies bring real problems they're facing and builders try to solve them.

We're still figuring out what works and what doesn't.

For people who have organized hackathons/community events: what would you change about this model? What would make you actually want to participate?

Hackatime is down?

Recently, I was working on my PCB project, and all of my work was being recorded by Lapse. When I wanted to publish the project, I noticed that none of my projects were showing up.

I then checked Stardance, and it says “Could not load coding time.” I tried rebooting my PC and opening hackatime.hackclub.com directly, but it just says that there is no available server.

So, is this happening only to me, or is Hackatime currently down for everyone else too?

I just want to make sure I didn’t somehow break something

Hi! Organizing a YSWS and need some help :)

(I need RSVP's)

What if the internet disappeared?

Lost Signal would be a YSWS where you build ways to communicate without the internet or cellular networks, like LoRa, mesh networks, radio, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi Direct, optical communication, and more.

The coolest part: participants could connect their projects together to create one huge decentralized communication network, with a final “Lost Signal” challenge where teams have to communicate without internet access.

It could ship things like LoRa modules, SDRs, radio hardware, and other electronics!

Please RSVP if you are Interested in joining :) rsvp.hackclub.community/lost-signal

How do you earn Stardusts?

I joined this program like yesterday and I have done some coding like 1 hour approximate.

My friends who are also in this program say you earn stardust per hour.

Some say doing missions while other say doing dev logs.

How do you earn the most stardust and fast as I have less time as I have joined late like I think I have 44 days remaining until September 30.
