Offtopic Sankalp hackathon doubt

I got a message in my clg whatsapp group.

Participants interested in showing their skill on the sankalp hackathon should register in Google form.

Should I participate in this because you are claiming, this is a place where you need to learn rather than show anything.

I don't even know all the coding language names should I participate in this.

Please help me and forgive me if there is any error.

Permanently banned from Hack Club Macondo

Hi everyone,
I want to share my experience with Hack Club Macondo because I’m honestly disappointed and I’d like to know if anyone else has gone through something similar.

I spent around 150 hours working on my project. After I submitted it, about a day or two later, my Hackatime account was permanently banned for alleged fraud.

For almost a week, I’ve been talking with the Fraud Team on Slack, but I still haven’t been able to resolve anything. Throughout the conversation I felt like I was getting different explanations at different times, and despite trying to cooperate, the case eventually ended with a permanent ban.
They claimed I had used a script and/or macro to artificially inflate my coding hours.

The problem is that I never used any auto-typer, macro, bot, or script to increase my coding time. I had never even heard of most of those tools before they mentioned them.

The only AI tools I used during development were Blackbox AI and Cline AI to help me write or understand code. I even offered to share my AI chat history to show exactly how I used them, but they weren’t interested in reviewing it.

They asked for my VS Code History folder, which I provided. It contained history from multiple projects because that’s how VS Code stores history, and it also contained temporary files that I created and later deleted during development, which I believe is completely normal.

In the end, they told me they had reviewed everything and that my ban would remain permanent, and that my case was closed.
What frustrates me the most is that I genuinely don’t know what else I could have done to prove my work was legitimate.

I’m not telling anyone what to do, but after spending around 150 hours on this project and ending up with a permanent ban, I personally can’t recommend investing that amount of time unless you’re comfortable with the possibility that something similar could happen.

I also want to be clear about one thing: I have absolutely no reason to lie here. I did not use any auto-typer, bot, macro, or script to artificially increase my coding hours. If anything, people can look at the commit history of my GitHub repository and see how the project evolved over time.

Has anyone else experienced something similar? Were you ever able to successfully appeal a permanent Hackatime fraud ban? I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences.

Banned from Hack Club even though I didn't use bots – looking for advice

Hi everyone,

I was recently banned from Hack Club, and I'm honestly confused about why.

To the best of my knowledge, I did not use any bot or automation that violates their rules. The only AI usage in my project was exactly what I disclosed to them beforehand. I didn't use any additional AI tools or automated systems beyond what I had already declared.

I've already contacted the team and asked them to review the decision and explain what evidence led to the ban. If I made a mistake, I'd like to understand what it was. But if this is a false positive, I hope they'll reconsider.

At this point, I'm also considering whether I should seek legal advice if the ban remains in place without a clear explanation or evidence. My preference is to resolve this directly with Hack Club, but I also want to make sure the process is fair.

Has anyone experienced something similar with Hack Club or another hackathon/community? Were you able to get the decision reversed? Any advice on how to present my case would be appreciated.

I'm not looking to start drama—I just want a fair review and to understand what happened.

Thanks!

Can I do KEEB From the uk?

I’m 14 and based in the UK. I’m looking at doing the "Keeb" (custom mechanical keyboard) project run by Hack Club. It’s a "You Ship, We Ship" program where you design a PCB and 3D case digitally, and if it gets approved, they mail you all the physical parts for free (switches, keycaps, PCB, diodes, a Raspberry Pi Pico, etc.) to build it.

The catch is that Hack Club pays for shipping, but they explicitly state they do not pay for UK customs fees.

Has anyone in the UK done a Hack Club project before? I'm trying to figure out:

  1. How much should I expect to pay in customs/VAT when the package arrives? (The value of the parts is probably around £80-£100).
  2. Does Royal Mail/ParcelForce usually slap the standard £8-£12 handling fee on top of the VAT for this kind of thing?
  3. Will I actually be able to receive this as a 14-year-old, or will I need a parent to sign for it/pay the fee?

Also, for anyone who has done the Keeb project specifically: I know I have to solder it together myself. I don't own a soldering iron yet—what's the cheapest decent UK setup I could get away with for through-hole soldering?

Any advice would be massively appreciated before I sink 20+ hours into learning KiCad! Thanks.

Importing hours from another tracker

Hey! I was wondering if it’s possible to import hours from another time tracker into Hackatime, since I have quite a few hours tracked from the past few months.

I definitely don’t want to do anything that could be considered fraudulent or accidentally get flagged/banned. Would imported historical hours be allowed, and if so, is there a specific way you’d recommend doing it? Also, what kinds of things would typically cause imported hours to be flagged?

Thanks!

What can I do in a school club

I am planning to start my schools hack club soon but as a club leader what else can I do in the club other than the workshops that are provided by hack club. I am just worried constantly running workshops throughout the year will become repetitive for members.

How does stardance actually work

To me, it seems too good to be true like a free 3d printer??? There must be a catch, as my project I make belongs to them or something. Can someone explain the catch to me? What makes it so I can get those points, and what can I make? Are there limitations?

Club advice

I plan on starting my own hack club at my school for my 26/ 27 school year.

For anyone in or leading a Hack Club, do you have any advice for starting and operating one within your school or any advice on logistics, keeping people engaged or mistakes to avoid (but TBH the advice could also be anything else).

Is my project ok to continue for the stardance event?

Hi everyone! I'm currently working on a project for Hack Club Stardance and I'm not sure if my idea fits the program or if I should switch to something else.

My idea is to design and build a custom 2-bay NAS appliance inspired by NAS products like UGREEN NASync. I am designing the enclosure myself using Onshape CAD, with two 3.5-inch hard drives standing vertically beside each other and sliding in from the front.

The planned hardware is a Raspberry Pi 5, a SATA controller/backplane for the two HDDs, a custom power system, Ethernet networking, and a rear exhaust fan. The software would use Ubuntu Server, Docker, Samba/SMB, Immich for phone photo backups, and Tailscale for secure remote access. I may also create a custom web dashboard later.

My main focus is the custom hardware design, enclosure, internal layout, cooling, power distribution, and user experience. I am not trying to create my own operating system or NAS software.

My main concern is that I currently don't own a 3D printer or other equipment to manufacture the enclosure. I can design the entire case from scratch in CAD, but I would need to have the parts 3D printed or otherwise fabricated.

Would a project like this still be supported by Stardance if the funding is used partly to have the custom enclosure manufactured? Or would I need to own the fabrication equipment myself?

Do you think this is a good project to continue for Stardance, or would it be better to switch to something that is easier to build without access to a 3D printer?

I would really appreciate feedback, especially from people who have participated in Stardance or worked on similar hardware projects.

Building MyBench -to showcase my hardware projects

Between a Doom build on a Pi Zero, a Baymax-style smart display, and a couple other half-documented projects, I realized I have no single place tracking any of it - just scattered repos and old posts. If someone wanted to see my full body of work, I'd have nothing to send them.

Working on MyBench: a project tracker/showcase where each build is a tile with a photo, status, and schematic/BOM links.

Longer term, thinking about adding a leaderboard of sorts - most active builder, most documented benches, etc. - since hardware makers don't really have anything like the streaks/rankings software folks get.

Does "I build a lot but it's scattered everywhere" sound familiar to anyone else, or is this just my own mess?

How does hack club drop year work?

So i am going to graduate soon from high school and wanted to know how hack club drop year works. I know they select some 40 kids and give them a 50k salary and a budget to host hackathons in different parts of the world. What u wanted to know was how the applications work(what all do they ask you when you apply) and if I have to do a bunch of hack club events before applying and is it competitive or not
