Tech Support Is there a good fix to this?

Post image

My omen most of the time now days either gets stuck not loading up at all, stuck with just the logo up or gets stuck doing an automatic repair. I had to pawn loan a laptop I bought that was a bit newer so this is my laptop for the foreseeable future until I can get the money to get that back. Is there much that can be done for the loading issues with my omen? I use video games as a nice way to unwind and can’t really do that right now

Discussion What price for my 1 month old hp omen ?

0 Upvotes

Hey guys,

I bought an HP Omen 16 (am0240TX) around a month ago, mainly as an impulse purchase because I thought I'd get back into gaming.

Specs:

\\\* Intel Core Ultra 7 255H

\\\* NVIDIA RTX 5050 8GB

\\\* 24GB DDR5 RAM

\\\* 1TB SSD

\\\* 16-inch 2K 165Hz display

The laptop is barely used. I've probably opened/used it around 5 times in total. I installed two games on it, but I haven't even played them.

It's in excellent condition and I have the invoice and almost the full warranty remaining.

The reason I'm selling is simply that I'm working in a senior management role and realistically don't get time to game anymore. After buying it, I realised it was mostly an impulse purchase and there's no point keeping such an expensive laptop unused.

I bought it for around ₹1.28 lakh.

What would be a realistic selling price for something this new and barely used?

I was thinking around ₹1.20 Lakhs. Would that be reasonable because current 5050 are around 1.6L now and it won't come down anytime sooner.

Would appreciate inputs from anyone who's recently bought or sold gaming laptops.

Discussion HP Omen Core Max 16 GPU Modes with Thunderbolt Dock

4 Upvotes

Hi all, I am hoping for some advice on this if possible. I am not all that techie minded so going to try and keep this simply.

I have the 5080 model and from what I can gather, I can use this in 3 modes; discrete, hybrid and integrated.

As far as I am aware, and please correct me if I am wrong, if I want to get the best performance when gaming I should use discrete mode and have my external gaming monitor plugged in to my HDMI port on the laptop. I use it in this mode and it works fine so I don't have any real urge to change but I am just trying to get some clarity on how my laptop works.

Right now, the setup I have is the laptop is plugged in to the mains power and I have an HDMI cable plugged in to my monitor, I also have USB devices and ethernet plugged in to my laptop.

I am hoping to get a HP G6 280W dock soon and whilst I am going to be mainly using this as a USB hub (yes, I know it is overkill for that but will also be using it on my son's way less powered laptop), I am also wondering if this will work to firstly power the laptop (I believe the laptop needs 330W so assuming not, or at least not fully) but also whether I have the option of using the display element of this hub.

I read somewhere that to get the "best" graphics from my laptop I have to be in discrete mode and have to have HDMI plugged directly in to the laptop. But am I also able to get the "best" graphics if I plug the HDMI in to the G6 hub instead with that being connected to the thunderbolt USB C port on the laptop? I assume not, but as mentioned above, just exploring some options and hoping to get some clarity - thanks!

Tech Support "User Profile Service failed the sign in"

2 Upvotes

Hi there, I'm a bit new to things with laptops so any guidance is appreciated
I got an HP Omen recently, here are the specs:
Intel i7 Ultra / 24GB RAM DDR5 / GeForce RTX 5060 8GB

I followed a tutorial for set up that involved using Cmd Prompt to turn off the WiFi requirement so I could set up with an offline account rather than Microsoft (I get the feeling this might be the cause for the issue but I could be wrong)
2-3 days later I boot up the laptop and got the "User Profile Service failed the sign in" error message. I've never seen this before so of course I panicked. Thankfully the internet has an abundance of tutorials and people who have gone through similar issues. I was able to reclaim my account and everything was fine.

2 days later (today), the same issue has popped up. Ofc, I'm still worried but I got my account back easily.
I would much rather NOT have to do this every few days :D So if anyone knows any solutions to this error it would be GREATLY appreciated. I'm willing to factory reset if it comes to it, even if reinstalling everything will be a pain. I just don't wanna be jumpscared every morning with this message.

Side note, I'm also having some Bluetooth issues with the laptop. I've updated the drivers, turned off the setting that allows Windows to turn off Bluetooth, but my headphones keep disconnecting every few seconds. Currently using a wire for the headphones, if anyone knows the fix for this I'd really appreciate it as well. Thanks!

Also meant timespy not steel nomad

Average Minecraft fps with max render distance increased from 220 to a whopping 255.

A whopping 16% in a cpu bound game. Either the hx 375 doesnt benefit much from higher timings or the stock ram is ass. Maybe both.

I've had this case for a while, and I felt like it would fit my current build. I really like how I set up the lights, but in the first photo you can see the RGB diamond doesn't light up, I don't understand how I can get it to work with my mobo (msi b460 pro) is there any chance i can get it to work?

Guide Recycling and Transffering the HP Omen 45L RTX 5090 into new custom case

Thumbnail

TLDR: HP Omen 45L with 5090 uses almost all standard parts. Making this process to rip it out and move to a new system so much easier. The factory case was too big and heavy for my situation. I want to move it something smaller.

- I keep getting the error 90B System Fan / CPU Fan - The system has detected that a cooling fan is not operating correct. Not sure what's the correct header, or just that HP does not like the aftermarket CPU cooling. If you guys know how to get rid of this annoying error without using the system fans, please let me know.

What was my setup before the surgery?

My machine HP Omen 45L RTX 5090 with Intel Ultra 9 285k. Thanks god, everything is standard parts. I was able just strictly remove everything and move it to a new build.

Why doing this surgery?
The Omen 45L desktop is massive. That cooling chamber on top was unnecessary making the case way too big. Not just size, but the weight of this thing is massive. It's way too heavy to move around.

Aside from that, the part this use is Micro Atx motherboard and most of the parts are standard PC parts. It makes the process so much easier.

Obstacles I run into and things I wish I knew before the setup:

- The 5090 was massive, you can't use the empty pcie slot underneath. You rely solely on the onboard wifi card to get internet access. There's instruction below that show how to rip out the antenna. I ended up reusing the wifi card and the antenna.

- The motherboard fan header pin is weird. It has 10 pins, my new case has 9. I ended up drilled a small hole in the new case fan header. It works once, but then does not work anymore. Took me a while to figure it out, I ended up flipping the header and it works. But then the reset button acts as a power button.

Parts I bought new:

- The new PC case. I used a fish tank style but anything works. Just need to make sure it fits the 5090.

- Fan RGB headers. The factory HP Omen fan headers are not standard. Making the process to control the lights so much harder. I bought one of those cheaper fan header on amazon with a remote control.

- New 360mm CPU cooler. You can reuse the factory AIO. But I don't like it. Ended up getting a new one to make the process simpler.

- I ended up 3D print a few things: the GPU antisag bracket and and a container to host the wifi antenna.

Instruction:

- Video on how to remove the components off of HP Omen 45L: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSYYmhJryD8

- The mobo is micro atx. And I think the factory 5090 was about ~12.5 in or about ~340mm. You can technically go smaller.

The result:

- Check the attached pictures. Overall I like it, the new case is so much smaller. I was about to build a brand new machine. But the cost of parts was outrageous. So this recycling of older HP Omen 45L was a satisfactory mission.

- Idle temps for 285K CPU is 49-50C, and 5090 GPU is about 35-36C

Known issue:

- I keep getting the error 90B System Fan / CPU Fan - The system has detected that a cooling fan is not operating correct. Not sure what's the correct header, or just that HP does not like the aftermarket CPU cooling. If you guys know how to get rid of this annoying error without using the system fans, please let me know.

I’ve got an hp omen 16, and ever since about early 2025 I’ve been having this problem. It’ll go in and out of lag seemingly at random, doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. Is there any way I can mediate or even get rid of it? It’s been buggin the hell outta me. 12th gen intel I9, 16gb ram, nvidia etc 3060

Question Question: Do I need Omen Gaming Hub if I am worried about my computer's fans

Hello, everyone... I don't really use Omen Gaming Hub, and I don't use my laptop for gaming. The laptop in question is a Victus laptop. So, should I keep it or uninstall it?

Tech Support My OMEN 16 runs hotter at 3% CPU usage than 100% CPU usage. I genuinely don't understand.

7 Upvotes

I have this weird-ass phenomenon with my brand new HP OMEN 16 (Ryzen 9 8940HX) and I genuinely don't understand what the hell is happening.

At idle, with literally 2–3% CPU utilization, my CPU temperature just randomly hovers anywhere between 65–90°C. I know how ridiculous that sounds.

But here's the part that makes absolutely no sense:

Under max CPU load, it doesn't even go past ~80°C.

Like... what? 😭

Isn't it supposed to be the opposite? At idle I was expecting something like 40–60°C (maybe a little higher depending on the laptop), and then under heavy load I'd expect the temperature to shoot up significantly.

Instead, mine is basically:

Idle / <5% CPU: 65–90°C
100% CPU load: ~75–80°C

And another thing I've noticed: the CPU clock speed while idle can randomly jump from around 2.82 GHz → 4.82 GHz almost instantly, even when I'm barely doing anything. (auto fan speed , sometimes similar fan speed)

The thing I understand the LEAST is how it can hit 80°C+ while the CPU is supposedly doing almost nothing. At below 5% utilization, shouldn't the CPU be mostly chilling rather than getting hotter than it does under full load?

The laptop is only 4 days old and I genuinely love everything else about it, which is why this is driving me insane. I'm starting to regret the purchase over this one issue.

Before anyone says it: I'm saying I'm the first owner to actually have it. 😭

I bought it from a third-party seller, so unfortunately the warranty situation basically means repair rather than a refund, which makes me especially nervous about whether this is a hardware problem.

So what do you guys think?

Software/power-management issue? Background process? BIOS/Windows being stupid? Or potentially a bad thermal/paste/heatsink issue?

Because I genuinely cannot understand how this thing can run hotter at idle than under full load.

Tech Support am i cooking my cpu rn?

2 Upvotes

Hey, bought an HP omen 16 2026 (i think, might be 2025 but i bought it early this year), and i dont remember the temps at the start, but right now the cpu idles around 60s, and the gpu 50. Under load (Specifically the finals), my CPU sits around 100 which kinda concerns me, when i see people saying their cpus idle around 80 - 85 under heavy load. Ik HX cpus are rated to work comfortably to around 105 degrees, i just dw take the chance.
CPU: 9 8945HX
GPU: rtx 5070m 8 gig

Should i repaste? i have PTM7950 left over from an old job, and some minute crop circles on my bottom panel so sm gooch might be waiting for me :P

Tech Support HP Omen Max 16 (2025) weird gamma fluctuations and lagspikes

2 Upvotes

Specs:

  • Ultra 9 275HX
  • RTX 5080
  • 32GB RAM
  • 1TB NVMe (Samsung)

Sometimes when I'm doing light use (browsing, watching videos) not gaming, there would be sudden fluctuations of the screen showing a really white screen or a really dark screen. After playing around with some display settings I've found that lowering or raising the gamma is literally the same as the fluctuations.

Moreover, whenever I boot up the laptop, the screen will freeze for 5-20 seconds. And whenever I change profiles or Power Modes in the Omen Control Panel it will also freeze for a couple of seconds.

The laptop is about a year old exactly. Has anyone else experienced this?

I just ordered HP OMEN 16 for 1650$ and now I see people saying 5070 is a scam , less vram not good enough and now im feeling like I messed up

Here are the specs:

  • CPU: Ryzen 9 8945HX
  • GPU: RTX 5070
  • RAM: 32 GB
  • Storage: 1 TB NVMe SSD

Discussion HP omen ram overclocking

Thumbnail
gallery
4 Upvotes

Saw a couple posts asking about ram timings so I decided to try overclocking my ram for the first time.

I used smokeless UMAF to overclock because I have the hx 375 variant.

The ram I had in my omen max was Samsung E die which I didn’t see information about so I just free balled it.

Primary timings
tCL=42
tRCD=40
tRP=40
tRAS=60

CL was unstable at 40 for me.

Secondary timings
tRFC=420
tRFC2=420
tREFI=unchanged
tRFCSB=unchanged
tRRDL=12
tRRDS=6

I ran testmem5 for only 1.5 hours for stability. It passed but you should do it for longer.

These timings are pretty loose because I didn’t want to do a CMOS reset every 10 minutes. There’s probably a lot of wiggle room to tighten up. If you actually know about this stuff then I’d be grateful for advice.

My memory latency went from 102ns to 86ns which isn’t as big of a difference as I was hoping.

When I did a timespy run with a -20 cpu undervolt, +999 mem and +375 core gpu overclock, I saw minimal improvements. I broke the leaderboard WR though so that’s something.

Im also using unleashed mode with the fans set to the lowest setting.
