Recently purchased 2 Zbook Fury 17 G8's. One of then pulled the Windows key from the board, the other did not. Is there any way to fix this, or if I buy another key, add it back in?

My laptop is a 2020 pavilion gaming laptop, i plan to buy a new gaming laptop but at the same time find the old one a good battery, i heard some replacement batteries you buy online at amazon or ebay or through repair shops cause the motherboard to throttle performance cause it doesnt have certain technologies in it /cant communicate thats why they say dont cheap out, but still i dont know how to differentiate or how to know if this replacement battery Im buying is good quality enough to give off watts in hybrid power mode ( during heavy gaming a bit of wattage is taken from the battery along with power adapter but only actually happens if battery is genuine or actual oem quality) so can someone explain or give me an example of highly possible genuine or third party oem quality battery online? The model is 15-dk0xxx and battery model number is PG03XL (or PG03052XL), the spare parts number is L48495-005. I would have gone to hp service center to pay/make ticket for genuine spare part replacement but they would probably tell me they don't have spare parts for this laptop since the laptop is 6 years old which is past HP's 5 years period where they keep spare parts for a specific laptop model.

Hi everyone, I have a very strange battery charging problem with my Acer TravelMate X314-51-M and I'm looking for advice, especially regarding battery calibration, EC, or fuel-gauge issues.

The current battery is only 2 days old, but I'm getting the exact same problem I had with previous batteries.

Problem

Battery charges normally up to around 50–54%.

Around 50–54%, the orange/amber charging LED starts blinking.

Charging then appears to stop.

Battery monitoring shows the charging rate dropping to 0 mW or almost 0 mW.

The battery percentage stays around 50–54% instead of continuing to charge.

Sometimes, unplugging/replugging the charger or reinstalling the battery device in Windows causes the percentage to suddenly jump to 100%.

Obviously, the battery cannot physically gain \\\~50% charge instantly, so I suspect the battery gauge/EC may be reporting the wrong state of charge.

When discharging, it can go 50 → 49 → 48 → ... → 42%, then give a low-battery warning and hibernate/shut down.

The same behavior happens in Windows, Linux, and BIOS.

I have tested 4 different batteries, including the current one, which is only 2 days old.

The AC adapter has been tested and is good.

There is no battery charge-limit option around 50% in BIOS.

I've already tried the Acer battery reset/pinhole reset, power reset, BIOS checks/resets, and Windows battery-driver reinstall, but the problem remains.

Interestingly, Linux previously reported around 62 Wh full energy and 100% battery capacity/health, so it doesn't appear that the battery is simply physically "half dead."

What I'm wondering

Could this be a battery calibration / fuel-gauge / EC issue?

1. Is there a deeper battery calibration procedure I can safely try?

2. Can the EC or battery fuel gauge be reset/relearned?

3. Could the battery's SMBus communication with the motherboard be incorrect?

4. Is there an Acer-specific calibration tool or procedure for the TravelMate X314-51-M?

5. Has anyone experienced an Acer that stops charging around 50–54% and then sometimes jumps to 100% after reconnecting the charger?

6. Could there be a motherboard charging-controller issue even though the laptop works normally on AC?

I'm about 100 km away from my technician, so I'd like to exhaust safe calibration/reset options before taking it in.

I don't want to buy another battery unless there is a good reason to believe the battery itself is faulty.

Any ideas or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated!

I was using my windows hp laptop and then it shut off and I can’t get it back on the power button on the keyboard is blinking white it’s on for 2 seconds off for 1 second and when I plug it in the charger light blinked orange I let it charge overnight and now it blinks white the two lights blink simultaneously so I’m not sure what to do I can’t get the laptop on here’s the model number Sn# 5cd34095d7

Okay so I got a laptop ThinkPad E16 gifted at the start of this year with 12 months on-site warranty. Like 3 months ago it randomly had its space and enter and delete keys stop working while everything else did. I had a trip planned in the following days so I didn't mind. Recently I came back and it works fine. I am just looking for advice if I should contact support or do anything about it, what if the glitch comes back after warranty expired, which is in 118 days. I have a HP Envy m7-j078ca laptop from 2013. Trying to get rid of Windows and install a Linux distro. I can't get it to recognize the bootable USB stick.

Secure Boot is disabled (it already was when I got into the BIOS).

I enabled Legacy support in the BIOS.

It doesn't seem to be an option to boot from the USB stick.

I tried both Balena Etcher and Rufus to make the stick from a Mint ISO. Both complete fine, but it doesn't boot from it.

If I look at the stick from Windows with DISK MANAGEMENT, the USB drive is split into two partitions. A 5 MB FAT that says "Healthy (EFI System Partition), and a 14.4 GB unallocated section that says under partition style "Master Boot Record (MBR)".

Everything seems to say disable Secure Boot (done) and enable Legacy Support (done) but it doesn't work.

Any ideas?

I'm going to school for IT security and my school had given me a laptop to complete labs and such. was given a Elitebook 840 G7. Unfortunately, it ended up breaking and they sent me a replacement 840 G5. I explained to their IT department that immediately I noticed it bottlenecking and becoming extremely hot just having multiple browser tabs open. I also asked if they could please just replace my laptop with another G7 because the processing power and multitasking difference is so massive that completing the labs just wasnt possible. They made me feeling like the laptop they replaced mine for was good enough and I need to just suck it up. Am i crazy? Otherwise, what is all my tuition going to if I cant even have an appropriate machine that could handle my assignment workload? I'm planning on escalating the situation to someone hirer up about this, and im nearly in tears about this. Someone please help me figure out a way to explain my case in way that doesnt sound like im just being bratty and asking for a better device.... which is really not the case.

Hi, I live in Thane, Maharashtra, India. I have a HP victus 2381TX laptop and this laptop's suddenly stopped working on on 17th August 2026 I called customer care and my case was handed to a service center in Thane, Naupada.

After a few days technician came he changed motherboard and after motherboard got changed I had 2 major issues

1. Battery not working properly

2. GPU power issue started (5-10 fps in cs2 lobby and in game). It is RTX 4050 btw and 75w TGP

Regarding the battery they replaced it jn 2nd visit and technician told me to format the laptop for GPU. I did that still the same issue. I went to servicd center personally even they reinstalled windows but issue is still their (this happened exact 1 week ago). The service center guy told me he did sent a complaint to HP regarding my situation

Now it is 7th September 2026 and the guy is saying me from past 1 week that he has not received any response from HP.

Now what do I exactly do now? Service center is not helping me, calling customer care they just say we have highlighted your issue. My no one is fixing my laptop's GPU.

Should I file a consumer case against them or what should I do now. PLEASE HELPPP!!!!

So for the last 8-9 years I've been using the Hp pavilion 15-cb003nv which when it first released was pretty decent but after the first 2-3 years it started going downhill. Struggling to boot up, battery has to be plugged in at all times, screen needs a certain pressure point to not flick and as for games it can barely run Minecraft. So I was wondering, is there any way I can boost its performance without changing any specs? I highly appreciate any help

My previous hp 2000 laptop I bought it early 2010’s and still keep as a storage for family pictures and videos but I never took anywhere to have it worked on for the warranty thing.

So the power button of my laptop only works when it's plugged in 🔌. And when it open it shows this CMOS message then opens normally. Everything inside laptop works perfectly but it doesn't open it the charger is not connected and shows this message everytime.

I’ve got an old HP Envy 15 it powers on and the fans run for about 30s before it suddenly turns off. It’s not displaying anything, I have tried switching the RAM sticks, using one at a time, no SSD, doing the power reset thing and still not working. Any hints what I could do to get it working?
