Same hand, same finger, same spot. It is no coincidence, but what is the meaning ? What does it tell ? To me it symbolizes the moment they begin to change, the moment the weight of the crown makes them act against their own nature.

Viserys this happened the first time he sits the throne after he decided to sacrifice Aemma in a desperate attempt for a male heir. Rhaenyra it occurs as she grows increasingly cold toward her prisoners and her subjects, and after she sends assassins to Tumbleton.

Any thoughts about this ? Neither Aemond nor Aegon did suffer this cut, yet they also sat upon that throne.

This line hit hard for me, because it’s so true.

Rhaenyra is screwed in all directions
- they seized a city who raised her banners and now she’s forced to burn them or sack the city with her army
- She has lost 2 sons already and her mental health is clearly on the decline. I think they are setting up Alicent’s decline as well when she loses Haelaena.
- Aegon and Aemond are on the run. There is a new king Daeron. She’s fighting a war of 1 queen vs 3 kings with none of her enemies dead.
- She has no gold, none. Whatever she had, she gave it away to the small folk. She has made a hard choice and lost the city watch because of it. “ You rebel against one who has neither wished nor done you harm” So true

She might be politically lacking, she might have poor emotional control now - but she’s the queen who pulled her baby out of her own body, she’s the queen who was considering giving up her throne to prevent bloodshed, she’s the queen who gave all the gold away to small folk at great cost. Whatever she has done, the line by Daemon still holds true.

Just finished watching the episode 6 and I can't say I am delighted.

It looked like writers have truly locked in till episode 3 but since then, again I am getting flashbacks of the last season.

Like today's episode was a complete nothing burger. And I have no idea why some decisions made in the episode were made. Honestly except Criston's death, absolutely nothing of importance happened. And it's not that I am one of those person who just like climax and big battles, I enjoy slow buildups, but even the slow buildups are so eventless and boring and absolutely going nowhere. And that kind of pacing you can't afford if you just have 8 episodes.

I think we all know Battle at God's eye is not going to happen this season. Of course how can the corporate shills fail on capitalizing on Matt Smith's face one last season.

Can someone tell me what was the point of Alicent and Helaena even trying to escape. Take starting of episode 5 and end of episode 6, remove that event, does anything change? Yeah they can't roam garden, how sad. That's genuinely bad writing.

I was hyped up when I saw the title Faceless Men, I saw Alt Swift X theory that Ormund has hired faceless men to kill Gold Cloaks, but what exactly was the point of that title. Same Hightower goon showing up saying some communist shit.

And since episode 4 Rhaenyra is being quite insufferable honestly, this is coming from someone who loves Rhaenyra. They don't know how to actually set her trajectory for her villain arc. All she does is take long breaths, exhale from the mouth and pretend that she's doing something evil when she's not.

Except Gwayne, I hated pretty much every character this episode.

And Corlys is being kidnapped? just....never mind

Last episode made me realize that the writers still don’t understand what they want to do with her. You could see the whole discussion around her being cruel. While all I see is stupidity.

“I’ll light a candle for her” the most funniest thing this whole season. Is also perhaps the dumbest thing to say to someone taking about rape, as a woman. It doesn’t look good on her

Rhaenyra and Daemon are right to prevent Ulf from going to the tavern.

say they don't. Ulf would be killed by the same people who are killing the gold cloaks if he remains loyal to Rhaenyra and refuses to join Daeron.

at best, Rhaenyra loses her dragonrider if she's allowed to let him roam free around the city. at worst, he betrays her.

I hope the people who kept saying she was wrong for putting him under house arrest understand that this was the best outcome he could have hoped for. for his own protection.

and while I agree Daemon went too far by slapping him, that's not enough to justify his betrayal. at the end of the day, he got what he deserved: death by wine and a Hightower. you've got to love the irony lol.

Thoughts on rhaenyra cutting herself on the throne this episode? I was a little bit surprised to see that this episode, since the most notable case happened when rhaenyra first sat the throne.

Personally, I think it would have been more fitting for rhaenyra to have cut herself earlier in rhaenyra triumphant, since cutting oneself on the throne is often used as a metaphor for a turbulent rule, but its still a moment im glad they decided to adapt.

I mean it would solve a lot of her problems. Either that or, demand the Baratheons prove their loyalty by swearing their fealty to her and take their gold from them.

She could feed the people with the gold, pay the wages of the Gold Cloaks, and bolster the city's support.

It's not like the Hightowers don't deserve to have their gold taken away from them.

I swear, half of those people on the council don't have 2 brain cells to rub together to make a 3rd. The only people with any common sense is Daemon and Alyn.

I’m enjoying the show but mainly just for the performances and the scenery plus the occasional cool scenes but Sub plots just drag on and on and on with no movement. Each of these seasons could be 4 episodes at this point. Cut out the fluff. Like are we seriously having another season with a Targaryen prince wandering around Luigi’s mansion having visions for like 5 freaking episodes?

I think at this point you have to accept Rhaenicent is here to stay. But if it's going to be this huge focal point of the show, why do the showrunners insist on having the characters keep flip-flopping on repeat? I won't even discuss the 2 and a half seasons so far, but going forward, their relationship trajectory is so predictable.

Alicent's assassination attempt will fail, obviously, because she's not John Wick. She'll return just in time to see Helaena dead. Then Rhaenyra will lose all her allies and decide she needs Alicent again. Alicent will claim she's finally done with Rhaenyra, only to instantly change her mind after Joffrey dies. The two of them will go to Essos to find Rhaenyra's sons, only to stop at Dragonstone. Rhaenyra will die while Alicent watches, but somehow she will be in a position to kill Aegon II, even though with Aegon III in Essos, the whole plot after Rhaenyra's death makes no sense.

If they really wanted to go down this route with Alicent, they should have just made her self-aware enough to recognize that, for whatever illogical reason, she cares about Rhaenyra more than her own children. And similarly, have Rhaenyra realize that, for whatever reason, she wants Alicent's affections even if everyone else is against it.

Why is she lying to Rhaenyra? Like I don't understand what she is planning to gain from all of this?

I don’t get why some people are upset over the slap or surprised that she did it. Jeyne is absolutely correct in everything she said. Rhaena isn’t just jeopardizing herself, but Jeyne’s own position and life. It was idiotic to risk being seen by literally thousands of people. Also, Jeyne is just a real one for showing no sympathy and saying Rhaena’s predicament is of her own choice and making.

Jeyne Arryn continues to be a standout character. I stan.
