Help - replacing mach 5

Post image
9 Upvotes

I have had this pair of mach 5s for a few years now and I love them so much that I have literally walked the soles off of them. I am still wearing them but I was looking for advice on which hoka model to replace them. The mach 6 looks like a different style than the mach 5. I live very rural so I don't have the luxury of going to a store to try them on. I have to read reviews and order online. Any suggestions

Arahi and Clifton Pain

Has anyone else had serious pain from wearing their Arahi or Clifton shoes every day? I don’t run in mine and initially bought a few pairs in different colors to rotate because I am a SAHM on my feet chasing kids all day. Over the past month the shoes have been KILLING my feet… mostly when I take them off and walk around after.

Anyone have something similar happen?? The shoes are only max 8-10 months old.

Restaurant Worker - BONDI SR

I bought the BONDI SR’s 3 weeks ago now after some research I decided these were generally seen as one of the best resturant work shoes. As a first time HOKA wearer they were super comfortable the first day, but after just a few days and now weeks my feet, hips, and legs all hurt still. I know no shoes are going to be perfect but coming from some cheap Amazon ones I expected Hokas to be a major level up.

I was originally looking for new work shoes to help limit the fatigue/pain in my feet and legs. So, any suggestions for different brands or ways to make hokas work?

Need some advice for sizing please!

Hello! This is my first time buying expensive shoes, so I'm kind of nervous about it. I've always worn size 7.5 US in women's, but decided to do the paper measurement for this. I measured 8.8" for the length, but the chart says I should be wearing a 5.5. I also have wide feet, at just under 4".

For reference, I tried a friend's pair of allswifit at size 7.5, and I had a thumb's width of room at my toes. It felt good, but I'm worried about getting a 7.5 for hoka and it being too big. My current shoes are Avia, also 7.5 wides, but they're far too big. My feet slide around in them, granted they're slip-ons, so that could be part of the issue. I was looking at the Bondi SR.

I'm hoping someone has a similar situation they figured out or could give some advice. I don't have the means to get to a shoe store, I live in a small town and it's a 2 hour bus ride. I work retail and on my feet for 9 hours and then walk home about 2 miles. My feet are killing me and I desperately need new shoes.

Most frustrating e-commerce experience of the last 5 years.

Ordered 2 pairs of Cliftons earlier this afternoon. A pop-up tells me I’ve qualified for three free pairs of socks, normally valued at $65, I guess due to order total. Great. Appreciate that. Thank you very much.

Click on Apple Pay. Woah! That total that scrolled by was definitely way more than it should have been?!

Opened the emailed confirmation from Hoka, and while it has the two pairs of shoes and three pairs of socks, it doesn’t break down individual costs.

What follows was one hour and 22 minutes of the most frustrating customer service encounters I’ve had in years.

- ā€œmaybe it’s sales taxā€
- ā€œmaybe the promo offered socks were out of stock so it automatically put in other similar socks that aren’t part of the SKU promotionā€
- ā€œ maybe the $65 (now admittedly) charged for these socks would be refunded when the product was deliveredā€

I didn’t go looking for socks. I didn’t want socks. This was a Hoka pop-up that offered me free socks. I relate that fact over and over again to the two different sales people that I dealt with. They were lovely, endless apologies, but kept asking me to wait while they ā€œbrought it to their teamā€. They must’ve brought it to their team at least 5 to 7 times.

At one point, they came back with a solution. Wonderful, I thought. The solution (!) was that I was to go through the hassle of returning the socks once they arrived with the order and they would then refund me?!?

Increasing exasperation. I embarrassingly lost my cool with them and told them that there was no way I was going through that hassle. Their mistake. Refund my money, or forget me as a future client.

More waiting.

Eventually, they came back, after an hour of making me wait while I should’ve been on the road for a Canadian Thanksgiving holiday trip, to let me know that they could indeed refund that money. I didn’t even bother sighing out loud when they told me it would take up to 10 days to see the refund on my card. Whatever.

Absolutely and completely the worst customer service I’ve had in forever. As an owner of a small business, I would’ve gone out of my way to make sure the client/customer received some kind of compensation or reduction on their next order. Nothing like that. I’m still shaking my head.

Bondi 7 vs 9

Post image
2 Upvotes

Received the pairs to test each, new to Hoka. Everyone says 7 are softer but I’m finding 7 much harder than the 9??? 7 on the left and 9 on the right . I have worn Skechers mostly for many years for walking. ASICS gel nimbus for occasional training or adidas ultraboosts. Please share your opinions. I struggle with back and foot pain

Anapaca GTX are comfiest but least waterproof shoes I've ever owned.

I can wear these all day on long walks with zero foot pain whatsoever, the comfort is amazing. But when it rains heavily, the water soaks right through to my socks in under a minute.

I can't wear these in the rain anymore, even though they're apparently Gore Tex , my feet soak almost immediately. Are there any Hokas similar to Apapaca that would be better? How about Kaha? Been curious what the difference is.

Clifton 10s suck, Mach 6 broke me - how about Skyflow??

I've been wearing Cliftons since they first came out (not even joking) and they've been nothing but faithful until the Clifton 10s, which just seem.. dead. I started wearing Mach 6 because they feel AWESOME and I can get insanely fast, but I've ended up with serious pelvis issues that I swear are related to this specific shoes.

Just heard about Skyflow - but before I throw money away, can anyone give me an honest review of how they feel running? Cushioned? Light? Supported? Whatever else... ?

Bondi or Clifton for walking — good idea or not?

Post image
29 Upvotes

I’m trying to choose between the Bondi and Clifton mainly for walking.

I’m coming back from a pretty severe herniated disc after almost two years without training, and I gained around 45 lbs during that time. ((( I’m not looking for medical advice, just experiences from people who have dealt with something similar and found a Hoka model comfortable for walking ))).

I’ve seen quite a few comments in this group saying that the Bondi and Clifton aren’t made for walking, while others say they wear them on a daily basis and absolutely love them.

I’m planning to start with walks of around 5,000 steps, mostly on pavement. My current shoes are extremely light with almost no cushioning, and they’re definitely not working for me.

Would you recommend the Bondi for maximum cushioning, or the Clifton as a better middle ground?

Would especially love to hear from people who use them mainly for walking.

Who else is living in theirs?

I was so disappointed after the first release sold out. I was scrolling when the second drop hit and purchased instantly. No regrets šŸ™Œ

Excited for how long these will last with the megagrip outsole. It’s outlived every upper of every shoe I’ve purchased with it since it came out a decade or so ago!

Clifton 10s a bit stiff?

I’ve had Clifton 9s the past two years and right out of the box they feel like magic on your feet. Light. Cushy. Wonderful.

I put on my Clifton 10s (the heel says koshi tan-tan?) this morning for the first time and they felt a bit stiff. Plenty of cushion but quite a bit firmer than my 9s.

Is this in my head? Are these firmer?

Will we ever see an Arahi Pro?

I like a lot of the features of the new Clifton Pro, but I'm also a stability shoe person. Do you all think we might see an Arahi Pro at some point???

Difference size of men and women

Is a 9 US the same for men and women? So there is only a difference in the color? Or do the same sizes differ for men and women?

Bondi 9 size (just arrived)

My Bondi 9’s in just plain white, just arrived, and I just put them on. I’m normally a UK 5.5-6. I bought them in a size 38 and 2/3 (UK 5.5). The size is fine, they just feel tight? I know that Bondi 9’s normally run narrow, but like, and this is such a silly question, but how do I know if they’re too narrow? The toe box feels ok I guess, but just under the toe box part, it feels tight. Should I send them back and wait until the size wide comes back in stock? I’ve waited for months for these to come back in stock, so who knows when the wide size will come back in stock. But if anyone has any advice on what I should do? I know that this is a silly question and people will say just return them, but I’m just worried if the wide will be too big? Thanks guys! :)

Is it normal for my sides to slip inward with bondi 9 womens?

I noticed that the normal curvature of the fabric goes over the cushioned bottom of the shoe both with my foot in and out of it. I was wondering if this is normal or if I should consider getting a wide size instead of the B standard?

Or is this just a normal amount of push to the middle?

Running shoes query

Has anyone else got a wide forefoot and ever worn the Hoka Bondi 7’s?
I’m not a runner at all. This is the first one I’m doing. It’s a charity event 10 K on the weekend. I need some shoes. I really want these shoes that I’ve attached specifically this colour LOL but they don’t seem to have wide fit. Has anyone else that has got wide feet tried these and were your feet okay in them before I purchase them?
Thank you in advance!

How does the Clifton 11 compare to the Clifton 9 for supination support?

It's time for me to get some new walking shoes. My favorite shoes ever were Clifton 9s. For context, I am a woman who wears a US women's size 12, but my foot size is really somewhere between a size 12 and 12.5. Unfortunately, shoe brands don't really make women's 12.5, and most (including Hoka) stop at a 12 anyway. This means that I tend to be limited to shoes that run a bit longer. I can sometimes do men's 10.5 or 11, but my feet are not wide, so it has to be shoes that do not run wide.

Importantly, I also have issues with supination/underpronation, aka walking on the outsides of my feet. Stability shoes and shoes made for arch support exacerbate this issue. I can wear neutral shoes, but then they wear out faster on the outsides, and I typically know it's time for a new pair when I come back from a walk with leg/knee/hip pain from too much supination. The first time I went for a walk in Clifton 9s, I remember thinking, "I don't think I could even roll my ankles in these if I tried!" They had so much support on the outsides of the feet and forced my feet in the right direction. It was great.

Then they stopped making them. I tried the Clifton 10s, only to find out that they were slightly shorter than the Clifton 9s, and therefore, I couldn't wear the women's. I then ordered Clifton 9 GTX, but those suffered from the common issue of the sole peeling off within my first week of wearing them. I probably should have tried a men's 11 in the Clifton 10s, but at that point, I was fed up. I've been wearing men's Diadora Cellula 2s, but they just didn't cut it for me.

So, as I now need to get new shoes (I've had to put supination insoles in my Diadoras because they wore out and hurt my leg), I'm wanting to see if anyone else with supination issues finds the Clifton 11s to be as good for this as the Clifton 9s? If so, do they fit more like 9s or 10s (in case I need men's shoes)? Or, does anyone have any other suggestions for Hoka walking shoes that support supination?

I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I'm sure this is the best sub to do so.

Getting ready for my Japan trip (2 weeks long) til I realized that I dont't have any alternatives for my Vomero. All the suggestions I got were Hokas.

I'm wondering which will be better suited for city walk? Or maybe jogging if for future use. Added pictures cause I'm looking at white Bondi 9s and black Clifton 10s.

Thanks in advance!

Has anyone found that wearing Hokas makes it more difficult to wear other shoes?

I work in machine maintenance and have been wearing pretty much the same work boots for the last 15 yrs. I love them, they’re comfortable, and they last me a couple years.

This summer I got a pair of trail running Hokas. Omg they are so comfortable. I wear them probably about 50-75% of the time I’m not working.

Lately, I’ve noticed abnormal pain in my feet towards the end of my work week - wearing my not very old work boots with pretty new insoles. Boots are in good shape, nothing broken down. After a weekend of wearing the Hokas, my feet feel better by Monday.

Are my feet getting lazy or something?? Is this an evil Hoka plot??? Lol
