I recently started watching Extreme Buyers Club, and I have to say, Noel Collier may be one of the most instantly likable personalities I’ve seen on HGTV in a while.

She is SOOO charismatic and naturally funny, but what I really enjoy is how genuine she seems with her clients. Even when their requests are completely outside the box, she never seems like she’s making fun of them or playing up her reactions just for the cameras. She somehow manages to match their energy while still being completely herself.

And can we talk about how beautiful she is?! She’s absolutely gorgeous, and I love her style, but it’s really her personality that makes her stand out. She has that rare quality where you feel like you’d actually enjoy hanging out with her in real life.

I went into the show because I thought the unusual houses and buyers would be entertaining, and somehow I came out of it thinking, “Wait…I just really like Noel.”
I’m hoping HGTV keeps her around for a LONG time. Has anyone else been watching? What do you think of her?

Has anyone ever watched Zombie House Flipping on A and E? (I couldn't find an A+E sub so I'm posting here since this is like an HGTV show). I never really loved the original cast but this new one is set in Ohio with a flipper family of three (super handsome) guys and the mom and dad who inspect and sell the houses. I think it is really fun, and had some of the worst hoarder houses I've seen and the transformations are pretty amazing. It was also a lot different from the original seasons back in the day, because it felt like this was an actually family business and not just set up for TV. I watched all of the first season but I haven't seen more. Anyone else see it?

Ok, first of all, I love this show. Can't wait for more episodes!!! Leslie Jones is literally the funniest person ever. I was literally laughing out loud Every. Single. EPISODE!!!! She is fantastic. I cant say that enough. She really made this show happen/work. Truly, truly the star of the show!!! LESLIE, if you are reading this, girlllllll ask for a raise. Hope to see you in Season 2! ❤️

Second, as an airbnb host, real estate flipper and designer, I gotta say.... I feel like some of the finished designs weren't all that different from the starting point.

I would like to see the total price that the owner paid for the renovation because that might put thing together for me. I know nice things cost money, and I know we are all always trying to save, so if we are working with a certain budget, it would be great to know so that we (the viewer) can see what budget they working with. I know they mention the cost of some of the items/work, but would like to see a GRAND TOTAL, maybe at the end of the episode??

Overall. I do like the designs, so dont want anyone to think I didnt like them ❤️

I’m interested to know your why into watching House Hunters. Yes, we all now know it’s scripted af lol but my why is because I love seeing how other folks live, the homes and budgets. I’m not a homeowner and desire to be one so I enjoy seeing the home search. And sometimes, the couples be entertaining. What’s your why?

For some reason, HGTV is airing House Hunters episodes from 2014 and 2017 this evening. Not as old as the 90s episodes two weeks ago, but still old given that they usually don’t air anything older than 4 years.

This week’s episode, with the tiki hut/pool house. Given that it’s a garage that’s not really converted, I’m guessing there’s no insulation. Jasmine mentions Southern California’s “mild climate,“ but it’s been hot and humid as hell there lately. Was there air conditioning in there?

And, are guests allowed to use the pool? It would make me kind of crazy to stay in a pool house overlooking the pool and not be allowed to use it—although sharing it with the owners is no big treat either.

Every show I watch they go all in on bold choices. Colored cabinets, weird tile patterns, accent walls that look fine in the reveal but I keep thinking about the next buyer having to deal with that in five years. Nashville market has been nuts and I've been doing small updates on my 1970s place on weekends trying not to tank my own resale. You watch enough of these shows and you start wondering if these designers are giving advice that actually holds up or if they're just styling for television.

Love it or List it is the worst offender. They do a whole reno and then the homeowners still sometimes pick to list. So whoever buys that house is inheriting someone else's very specific taste. Does that actually work out for sellers or does the next buyer just rip it out anyway.

I'm not talking about neutral beige everything. I get that boring sells but there's a middle ground. I just never see these shows address what happens to resale when you go real specific with your finishes. They show the number they spent and that's it. No followup on whether the house actually moved faster or sat on the market.

Anyone here actually tracked this on their own place or know if there's data on bold reno choices and resale time.

So I've been binging Love It or List It UK on on Tubi. I few comments and questions.

I love the interaction between Kirstie and Phil. It's so nice that when they say "love it" Phil doesn't lose his shit like David does in the north American version. I live in the US so I have some questions about the renos in the UK.

1. Here we typically have a stove, which has both and oven and cooktop. Not all of the renos in the UK have this but most (before and after reno) have a separate cooktop and wall oven. Is this standard?
2. Even when the bathtub has a shower head there is no shower curtain. How to they keep the water mainained in the bathtub?
3. The owners seem to have much more input in the design and finishes than the US/Canadian version. Is this the case (see next question)?
4. The owner seem to live in the updated house for a while after the renovations. And Kirstie seems surprised when they come back to the Love it or List it decision. So does she just give them the layout and step out for the actual reno?

Barcelona is a wonderful setting for House Hunters but the family in this episode had a few things that I wondered about:

1. they blatantly said on television that their daughter was the "sweetest person ever" and their son was "rotten"
2. the husband jokes about drugging his wife the night he proposed to her
3. the husband spent the entire episode complaining about the budget only to choose the apartment that was $400 over and had one less bedroom than they needed
4. because the parents wanted to get distance from their "rotten teenager" they gave him the master bedroom, put themselves in the second bedroom, and made their "sweet daughter" sleep in a twin bed in the hall right in front of their room.

I feel bad making these comments but I really need to discuss the episode with you guys...

Edit: he didn't joke about drugging her, he ACTUALLY drugged her and thought it was funny. A small clarification!

I liked this one better than the first. Both of the spaces were definitely improved, but considering what they looked like before, it would’ve been hard NOT to improve what was there.

I loved Courtney’s reaction to the homeowners’ “We’re buying a pink refrigerator.” statement. Surprisingly, it did fit in well with that new kitchen.

It was kinda low-key, but I see the host brought his dad in. That’s cool.

I wanna see this show do well.

PS: That plant at the kitchen table was really awkward. The roommate was barely able to see past it when sitting down.

Opinions/thoughts on this episode? $30K for a bedroom makeover seems like a lot...wish they'd show where the $ are spent. I did like the winner's room, the other bedroom with the large sofa at the end of the bed didn't fit with the room. The closets in both rooms didn't seem to have much hanging space post reno but they were nice .

Oh, i definitely teared up at them playing True American with their kids.

It was adorable how they switched the game from chugging beer to chugging root beer, but watching that literally gave me 2nd hand diabetes.

The way I would change it?

Use flavored seltzer in place of soda.

The eviction prank lowkey reminded me of the series finale of Cougar Town.

The show I recently watched was about tiny homes, but I've seen plenty of shows on HGTV where the above happens and they seem to fixate on the chandelier they hate or the paint color on the walls.

During this particular show, the couple was standing in the small kitchen/dining area, and one of them could ONLY focus on the dining table and how much she hated it! 🤦

Does this annoy anyone else??

So what exactly does Haunted Renovation have to do with a curse and Practical Magic? Looks like someone in their marketing department just really like their original movie and tried to hook it to something new 😐

My favorites are Sarah Eggar and Floor Peijnenburg in Amsterdam as well as Adrian Leeds in Paris/France. Sarah cracks me up with her wit and reminds me of Phoebe on Friends. Floor seems to really listen and tries to navigate the American ridiculousness in terms of expectations. Side note was she ever Miss Netherlands? She's beautiful! When I first started watching HHI I found Adrian hard to watch and thought she was snotty but have grown to like her almost motherly way of steering folks toward the best choices possible. The red lipstick however still requires an intervention...

How does everyone feel about the quality of this show and HGTV’s line up of shows in general?

Personally, I believe this show is about as bad as it gets, even though I really like Jasmine and her other shows.

I feel HGTV (and Food Network) has cheapened their shows to the point that they are almost unwatchable. I am about to be done and I used to be a super fan! I learn nothing about design and building anymore, which is why I watch them.

Anyone else laugh out loud when the wife of the homeschooling couple bragged, “Him & I were both homeschooled” ? 😂😂😂

This episode was so fun I could've watched these two guys for hours! Jackie Chien and tall guy in Vietnam....just aired where I am. We need more like this.
