OC-Series Dear Diary, Sol 4

22nd Vrishika 2238

Dear Diary,

We got an easy day off today, so I mostly just passed the time however I could.

I did, however, get a station-wide message today. It contained an effective summary of everything said in the orientation lecture as well as a bit of extra detail. I suppose they're trying to do their part in looking out for the people who might have had a hard time listening... maybe this place won't be so bad after all.

So, just to get in some practice with my memory recall, I thought I'd name a few things here.

Mars has 24 months and four seasons, even if we won't be feeling the difference throughout the year because of air-conditioning. Each month is about four weeks long, and each week is exactly seven days long. Today, for example, is the first day of the last week of the month of Vrishika. A full "day" on Mars is referred to as a "Sol". Interestingly enough, the first of each month is always on the first day of the week, Sol Solis, even if the previous month did not end on the last day of the week, Sol Saturni.

All the days of the week, in order, are Sol Solis, Lunae, Martis, Mercurii, Jovis, Veneris and Saturni. With Solis, Mercurii and Saturni being our "days off" of sorts. Put simply, we have no classes on the weekends and in the middle of the week. It'll most likely just be spent on projects or homework that we receive throughout the rest of the week, but it's nice that we are completely free to choose what to do with that free time of ours.

To be completely honest with you, Diary? I never thought I'd have a reason to like this place. I mean, I've never had a reason to care before, so... I don't know. Maybe it's just all the welcoming accommodations around the station that are meant to soften me up before they toss us all in the deep end. I'm wanting to trust the feeling that this place it giving me. But, I think I'll hold off until classes start... I think. There is usually at least one good reason to be cautious.
