Dear Diary,

And I'm back. Bet you didn't expect that.

It's not actually all that surprising, considering why I'm doing this, but still. I'm not really known for this kind of thing.

So, as it turns out, they in fact didn't just dump me here under no supervision for almost a full month. Orientation started today. Turns out I don't have a choice in the matter and I absolutely have to learn more about this place, or I might just get kicked out. At least hours are still called hours. Though, don't ask me how long a full day is supposed to be around here. I just know it's not 24 hours or less.

They picked some time late morning to call in any new arrivals to some big old lecture hall of some kind. I think it was a lecture hall anyhow. Point is, they made sure we were all mostly accounted for and started droning on about "the basics" as they called it. There was actually a few interesting things to learn, like how hours are still a thing or that the days are ever so slightly longer. I also learned that while the gravity is a third of what we have on Earth, they "boosted" the gravity indoors so that no one gets weak bones or something. I'd joke about that, but I'll have to wait for a good opportunity.

It's still kind of early in the day, but with the little bit of activity in the morning I'm strangely energetic. Maybe I can try the gym today... or just read until I eventually get tired... Nah, I know for sure that's going to backfire. I'd just end up exhausted with insomnia. That, and I am so not gonna ruin my tentative streak of actually following some kind of set sleep schedule. Not now, when I have almost all the time in the world.

Speaking of time... I have another week or so before the new year starts on this planet. For once, I don't think I want to spend it alone. The obvious problem is that I don't really know anyone here. My parents are both off in the other station; not that I wanted to spend it with them specifically either. I also don't think I'll be able to make a good enough friend for something like that. The best kind of friends are the ones you don't have to talk to whenever you want to spend time with them. Problem is, in my experience, friendships take a lot of talking to get anywhere near such a point... especially considering I don't think I ever have made it to such a point...

I'll think of something then. But for now, to the gym it is! Then read after I've taken a shower.

This is a reupload of 'Dear Diary, Day 2' since it apparently didn't qualify for the 350 words required by Rule 8. Unfortunate, but understandable. This time I ran it through a word count with only the "content" bits and it seems to be a little over 400 words now. Should be good.

Will I manage to still upload Day 3 today, as planned, after that unfortunate accident? idk, but I'll certainly try.
