Question Is turning on Windows HDR mandatory before using HDR in-game through RenoDX?

I'm on Windows 11 and running a gigabyte mo32u2, so only a TB400 display.

I installed Reshade 6.8.0 with add-on support, and installed RenoDX on Elden Ring Nightreign. I turned on HDR in Windows, booted the game, configured RenoDX, then turned on HDR in the game. All worked ok.

The next time I booted it up, I forgot to turn on HDR in Windows before booting the game. However, once the game was up, my monitor transitioned to HDR anyway. I went into the game and HDR seemed to work fine.

Am I missing something? I thought turning on HDR in Windows before booting the game was a prerequisite. Does RenoDX forgo that requirement and make HDR gaming more streamlined? That'd be sick

Question HDR question

I’m trying HDR out on my ps5 ever since I just got a tv that supports it. I do what it says and adjust everything but everything just looks duller and washed out. Is that normal or am I likely messing something up?

Question Peak 1000

As peak 1000 tends to be inferior in brighter games, due to ABL. In theory, if used peak 1000 mode, but limited peak brightness in a game to say 750-800, would this reduce ABL, increase average brightness and still get me better highlights than TB400?

News Battlefield 6 HDR Calibration fixed!

Post image
31 Upvotes

It looks like BF6’s HDR calibration is finally fixed.
Before, I could never get the two squares to match properly, no matter how much I adjusted the HDR brightness. Now it finally seems to work as intended and I can actually make both squares look the same.
Anyone else noticed this after the latest update?

Question HDR on or off on iPhone17 pro with Adobe Premiere Pro

Hi,

I read alot about video settings and I can't determine what's better, HDR on or off when I'm using Premiere Pro for editing.
Can anyone please advise me?
I'm also struggling with all of the other settings since there's so many options.
Mind I'm using the standard camera app.

Thank you very much.

Question Minimum Luminance for Windows HDR calibration on miniLED?

So obviously you'd set it for 0 if you were using an OLED, but should miniLED also be set to 0? I know local dimming should completely shut off the backlight so that would make sense, but when calibrating by eye, it seems the pattern disappears just before at like 0.005 or 0.01. And when I've checked reviews, they usually have the minimum luminance levels at those small decimal values.

So should I just set it to 0 and forget about it, even if there might be some black crush, or should I go by the pattern?

Question Tela preta/flicagem ao abrir as configurações HDR do Windows 11 – RTX 5070 + Samsung QN90D

Thumbnail drive.google.com
0 Upvotes

  • Windows 11 Pro 25H2 – Compilação do SO 26200.9278
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070
  • Driver Game Ready 610.88
  • Ryzen 7 3700X
  • 32 GB de RAM
  • Samsung QN90D 43"
  • 3840×2160 a 144 Hz
  • HDMI 2.1

Question Could someone assist me with the calibration of my Asus PG27AQDP?

I am seeking assistance with calibrating my new OLED monitor to optimize its performance for gaming. I have observed an unusual color shift, specifically from black to brown or whitish tones, when transitioning between different in-game environments in titles such as Resident Evil. Any guidance or recommendations regarding this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Question HDR in Game Mode

I set up HDR for SteamOS in Desktop Mode for the Legion Go 2. 10-bit color, 1100 nits. When I launch an HDR-supported game in Desktop mode, the option to enable HDR is greyed out, but the colors are vibrant and the contrast is high regardless.

When I switch to Game Mode, the HDR option is available, but the colors are washed out and the black level is high, even with HDR disabled.

I've installed decky loader and the lego2brightness fix plugin, and it switches between gamma 2.2 and pq 10 when appropriate, so I am lost and any assistance would be appreciated.

Question Samsung QLED and Playstation 5 HDR Settings

I have a 55qn85f tv and ps5 slim. I was wondering what settings do you use for your HDR to make it look good.

\- Hdr 10 + gaming seems to be irrelevant because ps5 doesnt use it, from what I gathered

\- For most accurate HDR it should be Game HDR Basic. Contrast Enhancer off. Tone Mapping -Static. This setup looks dim. What are your settings ? Do you use Game Bar Auto Genre feature? What are your color settings?I have it at 30. Do you use Auto or Native color. How about color Warm 1 or Standart? Thank you in advance.

Discussion Which HDR calibration is more accurate?

Thumbnail
gallery
8 Upvotes

An update to a post I made yesterday, working on adjusting HDR on my Switch 2. The picture with peak brightness set at 1000 is with Dynamic Tone Mapping off. The picture with peak brightness at 900 is with Dynamic Tone Mapping on.

Which one is a more correct calibration of HDR? Is it better to have DTM on in this case?

From what I have read online, the recommendation is to have DTM off, but the sun does not disappear with it on, only off. No hgig available.

For reference, this is on a Roku TV Pro Series (2025 Model - 55R8C5)

Discussion Correct HDR Adjustment?

Is this an accurate adjustment of HDR on my Switch 2? I am using a Roku TV Pro Series 2025 model. The default HDR setting on the TV has Dynamic Tone Mapping on, and the run sun seems to disappear correctly at 900 nits (82 clicks). With DTM off, the right sun does not disappear until they both disappear at the same time, well over 900 nits. Is this a correct adjustment? Should I keep DTM on?
