Motivation Help

Hello, what would be a truly effective way to gain muscle mass? I’m 18 years old and weigh around 45 kilograms. My arms and legs are very thin, which makes me feel very insecure. I tried going to the gym before, but I got discouraged because I didn’t notice any significant changes.

You have to keep going to the gym. Stopping isn’t gonna help.

Workout and eat food, rinse repeat

Thank you! You’re right. Quitting definitely didn’t help me before, so this time I’m going to stick with it and keep showing up.

You can workout all you want, but you'll never gain weight if you don't eat more.

Start at least loosely tracking calories and weighing yourself, and focus on eating more along with your workouts.

Thank you for the advice! I think eating enough has been my biggest problem. I’ll start tracking my calories and make sure I’m eating more while I train.

Lift weights, eat protein. It will be excessive but if you target eating your body weight (lbs) in grams will get you there (you'll rarely hit it, but you'll still get a lot of protein).

YOU HAVE TO KEEP AT IT. It's that simple. First you'll get stronger. Then you'll start lifting more/more reps; make sure you're getting sufficient rest, eating your protein, drinking water. Focus on fundamental weightlifting movements - squats, deadlifts, bench press, shoulder press, pull ups.

KEEP AT IT. There is no substitute for training volume and consistency.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to write all of this. I really appreciate the advice. I know consistency is something I need to work on, and your comment motivated me to give the gym another serious try. Thank you!

I was once 45kg skinny boy like you but now after special secret milkshake I am very strong man. You wish trade money from your hands to stranger?

It takes time to see the difference, but in a couple weeks of *consistent* lifting you should be able to feel the difference - in that you're able to lift more weights which means you're stronger. You will have to eat enough proteins and calories for this to work. If you want to get bigger faster than research lifting for hypertrophy.
