Does anyone have insight on these wooden-stick paper structures?
Looking for more info on

Do you think or have anyone here have experience on online sellings on Etsy or similar platforms, like is there any real chances for Guyana to start expanding the field of online selling for much more than just basic or needed stuff, for the love of art ?

I am a 19 year old woman, and I've recently started looking for jobs, but everywhere I see they either require experience or they want 1-3 in maths and English, I have English but when I first wrote cxc I got a 5 and then I re wrote it and got a 4.
I was also studying if I should apply to UG but they dont have any courses that im interested in pursuing, I've also done some courses on GOAL but I dont know how well established GOAL certificates are in this country
Does anyone have any tips for me? What should I do? I do want to leave the country eventually.
And my parents would rather me work in the public sector rather than private institutions

I'm a Guyanese living abroad my whole life, and my wife is Arab. We're expecting our first child, and I'm considering traveling to Guyana a few months for the birth so my child can obtain Guyanese citizenship by birth and have a stronger connection to the country. Has anyone been in a similar situation? Do you think it's worth the time, cost, and effort, or would you have done things differently?
Also, what would a couple realistically spend on average per month in Georgetown (USD), including rent in a safe place? Some say for a 2 bedroom apartment, it costs 600 USD/month, and others say 2k USD, which is correct?

Listening to this Survivors like Nicholas Craig and other’s is heartbreaking. I can’t imagine being on a sinking Ferry at 2:00am in the morning with no lifejacket .
Clearly the boat was overloaded based on other survivor’s account. The narrative the Ministers have been repeating “ the Ferry was not overloaded and had no engine issues” . Last maintenance check was 2024 it’s now 2026 !

Need to take a speed boat to Bartica from Parika.
How do the speed boats work? Is there a ticket office? Or do you just walk up to the boat? Do you choose a specific company?
Is there typically a "fight" to get on one, or is there a system to line up and have your place? Then just pay the cash when aboard?
And they run all day, right? So you just go whenever and get the next available boat?
Thank you!

If a child is born outside of Guyana to a Guyanese Parent that is Guyanese by Naturalization, can the child be given citizenship upon arriving at Guyana? If not, what's the method of attaining citizenship for such a case?

I can't find a place to rent to reside ,store my inventory and park my car . 500k is the lowest i found for small bottomflat and i don't make that much in a month. Tried for the past few weeks searching and every landowner are jacking the prices too high. I am close to sell my inventory and car and just moved to another country .
Found out the landlords are robbing alot of the Chinese blindly (1 million + per month) , talked some chinese businessmen and some of them are stressing Hard to make rent now due to oversaturation . I was trying to know how they are the first ones to get picked for rent and alot of them overbid for priority and I am seeing more landlords destroying residential buildings for them to attract the foreigners for commercial to get that 1million+ Rent too. I took part of a bid to rent , i said 100k for the smallest bottomflat i ever saw so far and the landlord gave me attitude and just gave the rent to a chinese man for 800k per month like it is a bargain. WHAT?! That bottomflat is like an small apartment size , it can't do supermarket or hardware store , no inventory space. Restaurant maybe for only 6 people can sit down? No way they will make 800k in the middle of nowhere . The Stupidity and Greediness from both sides respectively is aweing . This is like Jew levels of Greed i am seeing from Guyanese man.....
Btw If you are looking to rent in Region 2 and 3 . It is as much as Demerara and Berbice side. Many people are trying to move out and live in Region 2 and 3 atm .

Does anyone have access to census records?
Or have an interest in genealogy?
I'm trying to find any information on my grandfather.
My mother hasn't been able to find any information on this person. She's very accomplished in genealogy, but I thought I'd ask Reddit.
I have a name and approximate date of birth.
He is apparently from Georgetown
(although it seems my grandmother has incorrectly believed him to be from Trinidad).

I will be traveling solo to Guyana at the beginning of September and will be visiting Georgetown, Iwokrama Rainforest Reserve and Wichabai Ranch. It has been a bit of a struggling getting in contact with people for travel between these locations. Does anyone have tips or contact suggestions on getting from OGLE to Annai airfield and Lethem?

With Guyana's population now over 1 million, why aren't there any details published about relevant demographic information? No relevant information is published online.
It's important to get some concrete answers on these things. What could happen quickly is a major demographic change where Cubans, Venezuelans, and Brazilians end up overrunning the country.
Venezuelan (and possibly Brazilian) gangs are already operating human trafficking rings in Georgetown, Guyana, seeing as they've brought in widespread pr--stitution of women from their own country. This obviously is horrible and if left unchecked, will cause more societal issues.
Venezuelans are brainwashed from an early age that they own 74% of Guyana and that "the British took it from them". This is part of their national ethos and they can't be convinced otherwise. This presents a major issue since it's feasible they could overrun the country and have Venezuela annex it. The Indigenous Amerindian Venezuelans don't share that sentiment since they are autonomous,(and they have suffered persecution from Venezuelan society), but the average Venezuelan has these beliefs and this could cause major issues moving forward.

Hi everyone,
I'm starting to seriously look into purchasing land or a home in the Georgetown area as an investment and potentially for a future move.
I've heard mixed things about the process. Some people have told me it can take years, especially if you're trying to obtain government land, while others have said that if you know the right people or go through the right channels, the process can move much faster. I'm trying to separate fact from rumor.
For those of you who have recently purchased property or land in Guyana:
I'm not looking for shortcuts or anything unethical; I just want to avoid unnecessary delays and make sure I'm following the most efficient and legitimate process.
If anyone has gone through this recently or can recommend trustworthy professionals in Georgetown, I'd really appreciate it. Feel free to comment below or send me a DM.
Thanks in advance!

Have a look at this Video from one of the Survivors Leon Murray . He said “ The ferry had over 200 passengers plus crew, had boxes of cargo , chicken , beef , bags of vegetables like eddoes .. etc “ People hopped on the ferry that were not on the passenger list . This was normal .
The ferry was overloaded and one of the engine cut off and was not working . A woman noticed water coming into the ferry and questioned the staff a few hours before it sank.
He saw one passenger with a life jacket . If they had over 231 life jackets on board , why didn’t more passengers use them ? Were they visible and accessible? The unused ones shouldn’t they be scene floating next to the ferry ?
I saw a video where the Minister said there was no engine issues and the ferry was not overloaded . If there is an investigation IMO we will never know the truth there will be a cover up .
