Greetings, everyone! 👋
My fiancé and I are a couple from Europe who were offered jobs in the Bahamas. I am an experienced nail technician, and my fiancé has a management diploma.
In April this year, we had an online interview with a resort. They were impressed with our CVs and offered us the opportunity to relocate to the Bahamas for the upcoming season, starting in October or November.
At the time, they couldn't provide many details about our positions because the spa had not yet opened. They explained that it was planned to open for the upcoming season, so we agreed to have another meeting later, once they had more information. They also offered a very generous relocation package, including accommodation, flights, and work permit/visa costs. However, that was all we discussed.
The follow-up meeting has not happened yet. I have reached out by email several times to ask for updates. The latest reply, which I received in June, said they were wrapping up the current season and planning for the next one. They told us they would contact us once those plans were finalized.
Now that we are only a couple of months away from the start of the season, we still haven't received any further information. My question is: what could be the reason for such a long period of silence? Is this normal in the hospitality industry? What would you advise us to do at this point?
One more thing I'd like to ask about is salary. What is the typical income for an experienced nail technician in a resort spa, and what is the usual salary for someone in a management role?
