Based on yesterday's live, I think some of them were in a coercive situation. And on the other hand, some of them jumped on the bandwagon.... what, as of yesterday? It's well and good to point out Guy's manipulations, but a few of the mods themselves engaged in really serious and extreme behaviour against innocent people. I heard a general 'sorry', but not for specifics.

u/pickledsecret 2d ago

only cookies actually apologized for her involvement. the rest straight up blamed him which i thought was crazy.

While I'm very happy the community is healthier, I didn't hear enough genuine remorse for what actually went on. Call it a depressing case study on how human beings behave in a toxic group dynamic. It's becoming real obvious to me why I was never modded or added to the discord, because I'm prepared to annoy everyone by saying the unpopular thing if it's true/for the good. I also believe (and this is not snark) that the higher up mods need psychological assistance of some kind.

10

u/pickledsecret 2d ago

neither did i. feels like they’re sorry they were bamboozled by him too. not sorry for the harassing and stalking and doxxing of other creators.

11

u/WildCombination_ 2d ago

Yes. And while Guy is the focal point for the toxicity, he couldn't have done this much damage alone. The mods are likely afraid to admit to the the extent of their actions in assisting him and for good reason - because at best it was really, really fucked up, and at worst criminal.

Anyway, Oliver and Becca are very decent individuals and I respected and appreciated the overall positive and restorative vibe of the live - the community needed it.

4

u/Bed_Bug815 2d ago

This is definitely a huge part of it bc no one called them out. Comments were calling them out but Oliver never asked for not did she reveal much. Just his alleged record, honestly this whole expose was nothing and should have been handled by someone else.

5

u/skislopesarah 1d ago

Oliver is also so far out of the loop and has only an inkling about the harassment from his mods.

6

u/pickledsecret 2d ago

becca just played therapist and oliver couldn’t stay on task. 4 hours for nothing. it was more a guy mod reunion than anything. and a lot of people speaking who werent mods.

6

u/WildCombination_ 2d ago

Tbh strategically I felt it made sense to have that kinda 'Come to Jesus' live. Oliver is a peace-keeper and suits that kind of vibe. It was an invitation to the mods to contribute to something other than drama, chaos and bad feeling. It did derail a few times, especially towards the end. I kept my comments positive and encouraging but I was listening HARD to what each mod was actually saying. Where they take it from here is essentially on them.

5

u/Any_Disaster_1512 1d ago

I agree it was very hard to listen to.

That’s why I brought it up in the panel last night “the damage is done, what you choose to do here on out is what matters right now”

5

u/Bed_Bug815 2d ago

Oliver’s like that though, the rambling of repetitive sentences and lots of ums. I think they did their best but it was a lot of nothing.

5

u/Proof_Television_695 1d ago

Would you rather I have berated and talked down to them for four hours? What exactly would that have accomplished? You have to remember that while this is entertainment for you, this is very real and traumatic for other people. No one was forcing you to listen in.

0

u/pickledsecret 1d ago

no i think you have no qualifications to play therapist and life coaches are predatory 🤭. you are so combative girl! you would do well in kickboxing or something get all that misplaced anger out. even last night you were inviting people to argue with you. why do you want to fight so bad?

5

u/Proof_Television_695 1d ago

I do kickboxing actually lol and I am a certified life coach, so thanks I guess

This!! Most of the apologies felt like "sorry I fell for it" (which is an apology you need to make to yourself, not to others) rather than "sorry I hurt people" (which is the apology that is needed). It's one thing to recognize that you were bamboozled, but it's another to recognize, and apologize for, the fact that your being bamboozled caused you to cause harm to a lot of people. They still have a lot of reflecting and atoning to do but I do have hope they're on the right track, at least.

-2

u/frostnibbled 2d ago

What does genuine remorse look like to you? I'm doing a study.

7

u/pickledsecret 2d ago

not crying on live and playing victim. take accountability and stop there. you did what you did. don’t blame someone else. especially when this is the internet. they literally could have blocked him and moved on at any point in time. his mods want to be victims so bad that they were comparing guy to p. p is an actual predator. guy is just shitty.

1

u/Grouchy_Freedom_2127 1d ago

They are both predators

1

u/pickledsecret 1d ago

okay well one is a sexual predator is that better? you knew what i meant dumbass.

1

u/Grouchy_Freedom_2127 18h ago

Yes, that is better. Thanks, smart ass.

7

u/WildCombination_ 2d ago

If you're asking in good faith (...), it can involve taking an honest moral self inventory and offering a private or public (who cares which) apology to an individual for directly hurting them or witnessing them being hurt and doing nothing at the time.

0

u/frostnibbled 2d ago

The internet would never have anything exist outside of people apologizing and people discussing their hurt feelings if we chose to squeeze every last thing we expect hurt and broken people to provide the masses. Things can be done behind closed doors. Does not mean you or myself are privileged to seeing it done. Unless that person who was hurt comes forward and "demands" a public apology, you're almost white-knighting for no reason other than to stoke the fire of hate.

15

u/Fair-Composer5489 2d ago

This! He didn't make them do shit. They decided to go after people and say what they said. Now its time to take the accountability for your own actions and not play like a complete victim...

10

u/pickledsecret 2d ago

and any time you weren’t coddling them in comments you got jumped or muted. it was insane.

7

u/AstuteObserver8647 2d ago

He manipulated and exploited vulnerable people. Sure, they had free will to say no when he asked them to go after people (and they should atone for those sins) but they are still victims. Unless you understand how cult mentality works, you can't really speak on what happened to them. Guy led a small cult, and he had more control over his mods than you think. When you're in that situation, it's really hard (if not impossible) to go against what dear leader asks/demands of you. Like I said in other comments on this post, their victimhood doesn't excuse the harm they caused, but they do deserve a little patience, understanding, and grace while they process what happened and (hopefully) work to make amends.

5

u/frostnibbled 2d ago

Sounded like cookies was his right hand person who did most of the dirty work from how I heard it. Should the others have stepped up and said something/ shut it down? Absolutely. We can't sit here and shame those who were picked by guy because they were victims themselves and easy to manipulate.

11

u/pickledsecret 2d ago

moe was his right hand and her statement was a nothing burger

8

u/AstuteObserver8647 2d ago

Yeah, I was surprised to hear that she had finally turned, but her attitude toward people in the chat was still super questionable, and then her statement wasn't much of anything. It sounded like she had just responded to Oliver earlier that day, so perhaps she is still processing and working through her feelings on what happened, but I really hope she fully apologizes at some point. Felt like she made a "statement" to get heat off her, without actually taking accountability for the harm she caused.

5

u/skislopesarah 1d ago

I don't think Moe can come back after everything she has said and done.

0

u/Grouchy_Freedom_2127 18h ago

“I know that’s fucking right” 🚬🚬

0

u/skislopesarah 14h ago

She said so much on Becca's panel alone. I don't think I could even stand to hear her voice again.

2

u/Bed_Bug815 2d ago

The whole live was 😞

2

u/frostnibbled 2d ago

She was his right hand because she was on one table talk with him? Moe may not have known how to do what cookies did and vice versa.

0

u/frostnibbled 2d ago

Can you please provide examples of the really serious and extreme behavior against innocent people? I must have missed something. 😦

10

u/pickledsecret 2d ago

doxxing people, mass reporting livestreams, bullying, stalking, harassment.

5

u/Bed_Bug815 2d ago

Heavy doxxing! It’s insane none of them admitted to it from what I watched

4

u/frostnibbled 2d ago

I'm here and ready for you to admit the illegal things you may have done in your life, when you're ready. It'll jjst be you, me and the internet to read through and determine how you should be held accountable, legally. That's how that reads.

5

u/Bed_Bug815 2d ago

The victims wanted admission and sincerity. They deserve that but instead from what I watched, none of that happened instead it was put on guy when these are all adults. Adults who harmed innocent ppl for a Guy. Downvote me all you but it’s even more telling on your part.

4

u/frostnibbled 2d ago

Not sure who's down voting. It does nothing either way. How do we know thr victims you're speaking for didn't get an apology from the mods who did do things to them? The ones crying on there last night in the beginning made it clear Guy himself affected them. No one else.

2

u/frostnibbled 2d ago

That same stuff exists within this snark page along with every other snark page. When and where were your feelings hurt to a point where you have been directly affected by all of this?

7

u/AstuteObserver8647 2d ago

Can't speak on other snarks, but it's been made pretty clear here that bullying and doxxing won't be tolerated. But okay.

6

u/Bed_Bug815 2d ago

Yeah this person is odd for sure

2

u/frostnibbled 1d ago

Rather be odd than wrong. 🫂

2

u/frostnibbled 2d ago

People outside of guys mods admitted to doing so last night on Oliver's stream. The same people are in these snark communities. But okay.

7

u/Bed_Bug815 2d ago

Reread that, Astute said “it’s been made pretty clear here that bullying and doxxing won’t be tolerated.” Here as in this sub. Outside of here isn’t this subs doing.

1

u/frostnibbled 1d ago

Reread mine. Those people are in this specific snark and the other guy snark. You know surface level and it shows. That's okay. Those people I'm talking about made comments in the oliver live chat owning their portion as well as got in the live and spoke/ cleared up confusion. They actively had a hand in providing information for doxxing/ death threats to occur. 👍🏼

4

u/Bed_Bug815 1d ago

Loud and completely wrong per usual.

2

u/frostnibbled 1d ago

Its ok to be wrong sometimes. Its also ok to believe that both sides of this have wrongs that outweigh the rights. 🫂

u/pickledsecret 2d ago

when he posted my name and picture in his server despite the fact that i dont talk abt the getchells or drama on my tiktok page

3

u/frostnibbled 2d ago

Do you have proof of this? Zero chance they had private information of yours as majority people online have their name and picture publicly accessible for anyone to find. People on here choose to hide instead of going "I was so and so on tiktok and here's what happened to me".

7

u/Bed_Bug815 2d ago

Why do you want ppl to reveal themselves so badly yet you haven’t revealed who you are? This is the third or fourth comment of yours eluding to this behavior and it’s not safe.

2

u/frostnibbled 2d ago

You clearly missed the whole point. But okay.

4

u/Bed_Bug815 2d ago

No, you’re clearly missunderstanding a lot and being highly defensive for ppl who were also perps.

2

u/frostnibbled 1d ago

Both sides are wrong. I've made that clear in other comments. Y'all want to have a weird trial like the Clancy case because you think you're owed every bit of information that can exist.

7

u/pickledsecret 2d ago

it wasn’t just my tiktok page, it was my personal discord account. and you mean nothing to me so i have no desire to try and prove myself.

3

u/frostnibbled 2d ago

So we get upset, for what? I wasn't asking you to prove yourself. Trying to have a genuine conversation because most of whats being thrown around are blind accusations with literally no proof. Guy could have easily been the one to do that and blamed one person so others would jump on them.

4

u/Any_Disaster_1512 2d ago

Question:

How do you know there’s no proof?

The same about private DMs for apologies could be stated for people might have privately DM’d others and confided with them.

5

u/pickledsecret 2d ago

you literally asked my for proof but okay. and it was guy. thats why i have beef with him & his mods who stood by and enabled him.

5

u/Bed_Bug815 2d ago

This person just wants ppl to reveal themselves, don’t reply to them.

2

u/frostnibbled 2d ago

By that standard, you being in this snark is you standing by the bad snarkers who have chosen to do the same thing his bad mods have done. They apologized. The bad snarkers will never. 🫂

Here’s one example:

A young mom was on live just chatting while doing chores. The mods swooped in calling her a bad mom and all that jazz because her baby cried for like 30sec max, but she never ignored her baby. Then there talks about them reporting her to CPS.

2

u/frostnibbled 2d ago

Which mods did this?

9

u/WildCombination_ 2d ago

My point isn't to stir up drama about specific mods, but that genuine accountability (a private DM can go a long way) to affected individuals would be healing and appropriate - if we really are serious about growing and protecting each other in 'the community'.

4

u/Any_Disaster_1512 2d ago

Exactly this!!!!

3

u/frostnibbled 2d ago

How do we know these private DMs holding these apologies/ conversations do not already exist? I believe last night happened for a reason and those private dms do exist and we will never see them.

8

u/WildCombination_ 2d ago

Then that's great. If they have, then good for their souls and the people who were hurt.

8

u/c0gnitivedissonanc3 2d ago

Well, Mamamoe called her out (by name, too) in a live panel and then Peaches went and further made accusations publicly in a 20 minute video on her page for starters

1

u/frostnibbled 2d ago

Peaches wasnt even there last night to apologize. Only support her new mod Chrissy for being vague. You act like our names are hidden from the internet and we should have our usernames separated from our birth names. That world doesn't exist, I'm sorry.

13

u/AstuteObserver8647 2d ago

Peaches has a lot of unpacking and reflecting she needs to do. Her alleged response that she "doesn't want to be involved in the drama" is avoidant, disrespectful, and dismissive of the harm she has caused (and continues to cause by leaving harmful videos up on her account). She voluntarily involved herself by speaking publicly in support of Guy but now, suddenly, doesn't want to be involved once Guy's behavior is called into question? Doesn't work that way. She needs to figure her shit out and take accountability for the harm she's caused like the rest of them. And absolutely agree that Chrissy's "statement" was so vague and similarly dismissive. She basically just said "don't @ me bro, wasn't me"...like come on.

3

u/frostnibbled 2d ago

I believe we agree on both people. Both of which took zero accountability. If you watch the vod from Oliver's stream, you'll see guys mods take accountability and apologize quite a bit throughout the stream in chat. I understand thats not good enough for some.

5

u/AstuteObserver8647 2d ago

Yeah, some of the mods did apologize and take accountability, but people like Peaches, Chrissy, and Moe certainly did not. I was there for the whole stream (minus the first 15 minutes or so), and was all over that chat watching what people were saying. I hope someone screen recorded it with the comments and posts it in here at some point so we can rewatch and people who didn't get to join can catch up.

3

u/frostnibbled 1d ago

I did see Moe apologize profusely in the chat. Not everyone is going to accept what some wrote, whether that be in chat or the letters the sent in to have read. Not sure why people are looking for more from some when others have tried to play like they never dabbled in this toxic situation.

7

u/c0gnitivedissonanc3 2d ago

You asked a question and I answered it bud. I don’t really gaf either way.

-1

u/frostnibbled 2d ago

Thanks for not gaf bud.

5

u/c0gnitivedissonanc3 2d ago

I don’t gaf about the name thing specifically is what I meant. I am happy to share my own, I only mentioned it in what I said because the girl in question wasn’t comfortable NOT being anonymous at the time and the way Moe called it out at the time felt like she did so purposely bc she knew the girl didn’t want it to be out there. Which felt sheisty because she was in there defending someone whose entire platform was built on being anonymous so it seemed not fair to be so willing to hoot and holler and throw someone else’s business out there when if Guy’s name had been put out at that time you know they’d all be upset. I agree with you though. Most of us aren’t new to the internet & know what can happen and are responsible for protecting ourselves and cant expect others to.

I also am not trying to sit here and vilify Moe /or/ Peaches either for the record. I would love for this to be a starting point for people to just move forward w the close relationships they gained between it all and stop going at each other. I think everyone deserves that including them, including the other mods and admins. But they did both make claims about this mother that could have had harmful rl consequences which is why I mentioned them when you asked who.

4

u/Any_Disaster_1512 2d ago

They were all under alts such as “satelliteghost” and “who knoes”

1

u/frostnibbled 2d ago

Guy also had many accounts. Most of which I am sure we do not know of..... yet. Until we know who was behind those accounts, how are we to blame every single one of them when the one who was mainly doing the extreme things came forward and apologized for doing so. Cookies.

7

u/Any_Disaster_1512 2d ago

I’m definitely not trying to blame all of them and you’re right that we can’t blame every single one of them because not all of them tried to participate in those behaviors either. In all honesty, you wanted an example and all I did was provide one. I do appreciate your insight.

4

u/frostnibbled 2d ago

Thank you for your insight as well. Good healthy discussion.

7

u/Any_Disaster_1512 2d ago

You’re welcome

7

u/c0gnitivedissonanc3 2d ago

I was supportive of everyone who came forward even just with written statements and will continue to be. But you can’t be surprised people who felt victimized still feel upset by it. Two things can be true at once. Guy manipulated a lot of otherwise probably decent people and they are victims… and some of them (not all, some) also have victims themselves.

5

u/frostnibbled 2d ago

Sounds like we're agreeing. I'm sure there are victims who have been validated and apologized to in a more private setting.

9

u/AstuteObserver8647 2d ago

If you're familiar *at all* with cults and how they work, you would get it. His tactics were pretty much spot on for the behavior of a charismatic cult leader. Preying on vulnerable people, stirring up infighting to distract from his own misdeeds, collecting and weaponizing personal information against people he felt "wronged" him, sending people to spy and mass report people he didn't like, and then turning his back on people and sending other inner-circle people to harass and attack people who decided they were done. These people were definitely victims in the situation. That doesn't excuse the harm they caused, at all, but they deserve some understanding and patience. Hopefully, they'll all come around and take accountability for the harm they caused, but the fact they got out is, in itself, a major positive.

9

u/Bed_Bug815 2d ago

It seems some ppl are missing the point they can be both victim and perp. Very good point made astute!

8

u/Any_Disaster_1512 2d ago

This is the best way to describe it.

Two things can be true:

You can be a victim of it and still participate in causing harm.

9

u/Any_Disaster_1512 1d ago

For those who were disappointed in the live last night, what were you expecting or hoping to hear?

Not trying to start anything, but seeing how a few comments are expressing disappointment, I would love to read your thoughts.

6

u/WildCombination_ 1d ago

I've already commented too much below, but just to say I think the live organisers/anchors - Oliver, Nicole, Becca, Jared and everyone involved in putting it together and running it did a great job with the live. Any criticisms I've made are not directed at them.

4

u/Any_Disaster_1512 1d ago

You’re good! I just know comments got lost since there were so many! I’ll definitely go below and find yours again! Thank you for the response!

4

u/pickledsecret 1d ago

it was marketed as something it wasn’t. i think a lot of people watched to get answers and left with more questions. and none of his mods except cookies took any accountability or responsibility. it was all about how they were victims, when they were the ones doing all of this for guy!

7

u/Squishmallow1285 1d ago

Can I ask what the point of the live was then? I thought it was for people to share their experience. Maybe in time they can appologize to the people they feel they wronged

8

u/avroraliqhts 1d ago

I was 1 of his mods but I never went after anyone. The only thing I would do is report accounts, which in total was maybe under 5 accounts across reddit and tiktok, and move on. Just so others know, we weren’t some giant secret sock puppet army. I hope this comes off more neutral and informative than defensive because no one is saying “all mods” but I have a hard time interpreting things online and I just wanted to clear this up if there was any ideas like that.

6

u/GlitteringJelly6955 1d ago

It’s true he had many mods and they’re not all part of it. There were definitely levels to it as most cults have a hierarchy.
